  1. Hello,

I was wondering if grip tape on the bottom side of the trigger guard, where the weak hand index finger rests, is production legal? I would like to have my production rig as close to my limited as possible in this regard.

I tried to search, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Closing would probably be a good thing... ;)

I recall seeing a couple of cases here in Austin, now, where they've done investigations, and then refuse to release the details. While I don't feel that anything wrong occurred, based on what I knew of the cases, it does tend to give one the feeling that something untoward is going on...

Yep, close it down. Can't have us "civilians" having a discussion about police brutality. Who knows? We might organize and do something about it.

Remember folks, police have no *legal* obligation to protect you. Just ask Jessica Gonzales.

My problem is not with "civilians" talking about this, but posting accusatory remarks in an area of the forum where someone with an alternate opinion, like myself, is not allowed to comment. I don't disapprove of transparency in law enforcement and criminal justice, I just HATE it when people form opinions without all, or nearly all the facts. And I am a police officer if you were wondering.

And just food for thought, do you realize how many unemployed drug dealers live and leach off of there unknowing, innocent grandparents and relatives. I doubt that the 92yoa lady was dealing drugs out of the house she lived in for 17 years, but there is a possibility that someone who was dealing was living there, and just happened to not be there when they served the warrant.

If we want to discuss this over PM, I'm available.

  3. Another option if you want a steel frame is to buy a Springfield Hi-Cap .45, strip it for the frame and sell off the rest. The frame will take Para Hi-Cap mags, or if you get the mag release modified, it will take STI/SV hi-caps. Just an idea. Might look like this http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...eel+limited+gun

Definitely endores AFTEC's for the extractor. And also the C&S Ignition kits.

  4. Parts like hammers, sears, disconnectors, safeties and guide rods fit either type and are non caliber specific. Fire control parts should probably be fit by a gunsmith to work properly.

AFTEC extractors are awesome in my opinion.

  5. This is why I switched to steel frames (Springfield Hi-cap) after dealing with this problem on my STI for about a year. I could induce hammer follow by choking up on the gun and tightening my grip, like I would do in a match. Tighten grip, double and triple, loosen grip, normal function. I switched to a steel frame and have had none of the problems of follow.

Probably anecdotal, but it's my .02.

  6. Did everyone see that in the first couple episodes, when the Suresh guy is in his father's apartment, the guy comes to kill him. He disarms the guy. The gun the guy came to kill him with is an STI/SV variant, looked like and open gun with no C-More.

  7. Hello,

I already searched for IONBOND on this thread,

    http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...nbond&st=25

but didn't find what I was looking for.

I saw Taran Butler wearing this brand on his shirt at nationals. It seems that they do the PVD coating and have several locations nationwide, including fairly close in Oregon near me.

I was wondering if anyone has had any firearms finished by them and how was the service/price/timeline?

    Any help appreciated.

  8. I agree with Flex, I pay attention to my percentage overall versus the guy that gets 100%. I have seen percentage gains at the last two nationals and Area 2's. I have taken this to mean that I am improving. I believe it's the only way you can truly track progress against the top guys. Rob Leatham shoots as well this year as last year and a three percent gain against him speaks volumes about your training. Though three percent may seem paltry, gains at higher level get smaller and smaller as you progress.

However, on the other hand, I like the classification system because it has shaped my training to work towards more workable short-term goals. As I moved from B-A-M-GM, my skills progressed, as my classifiers became more consistently better. Classifiers represent gun handling skills, all of which apply to shooting well at major matches. It is however, harder to predict that you will shoot three percent better at the next nationals because of all the factors involved. Typically major matches show the appropriate distribution of the classes in the overall results, sometimes with a few exceptions.

I think if we simply take away awards for class finish, it would be a much simpler way of making the larger matches completely "heads up."

    My $.02

  9. I think they should amend the stage description to indicate what they want specifically. If they want all shots fired from within box A, they should say that. On stages that typically have faultlines, the faultlines are labeled. Assumption and Intent have no place on a classifier diagram. One sentence could have made it all better.

  10. That is inspiring man. I was going to get a grizzly mill for a while, but then decided against it. Seeing what you did remotivates me to just get one and start doing that on my own guns. Thanks for the posting.

  11. I had Rich Dettlehouser build me a limited gun on a Springfield Hi-Cap frame (same as para in most respects). He attached a SV trigger shoe and insert to an old para bow so I could have the interchangability of the SV trigger, but with a sweet forged frame.

  12. As a lefty, I drop my middle finger back and push the mag release with the tip of my middle finger. I don't have to shift my grip and it makes for a very positive mag release. It came from shooting a Beretta in the army and a Glock in the Academy. Since there were no lefty instructors, pretty much had to come up with my own. It's the only way i've ever done it.
