  1. I use 4.7grs of N340 behind some cast 200's @ 1.135" and get a 172PF in a Glock 22. I tried some 320 but I couldn't get close to making Major with it. Very soft recoil.
  2. I shoot 200gr out of my Glock and find the recoil very light with VV340 at 170PF If you cast, I had Tom at Accurate Molds come up with this for me http://accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=40-200F-D.png
  3. +1 for Dawson. I have their adjustable rear and .300 tall, .100 wide for the front
  4. I'm a little late to the party, but I had better luck with N340 than 320 with 200grs. With the same powder charge I got more velocity with the 340 out of a Glock 22.
  5. Does a G22 count? (only 3/4 of an inch away!) Dawson sights Dawson Heavy Magwell Glockworx mag release Vanek trigger Bar-sto barrel Tungsten guide rod, 13lb ISMI spring Stippling done by me (talk about tedious work) Doing all the work myself: priceless
  6. I use N340 for the 200's I cast @ 1.125", 4.6gr. I couldn't get near major with the same charges using 320. I'm using a G22 though
  7. I use 4.4gr of N320 loaded at 1.135" w/ 180gr lead to get to about 170pf out of a G22. I've since switched to 4.4gr N340 with 200grs as they feel softer. Have you been able to chrono any?
  8. I probably took a few thousandths off of the area just back from the 'B' in barsto. It was a really tight fit until I did that, and it still locks up the slide much tighter than the factory barrel. I also did the same with the bottom recoil lug you referred to
  9. Not to ask a stupid question, but how do I go about that lol Edit: Nevermind, got it figured out! Thanks
  10. Had a thought... Wont stage 1 of the SDB decap my fresh primer?
  11. Just got a SDB last week. I can get below flush but I don't feel like the depth is consistent, so I got out the hand primer last night. Primed 640 while watching the Cowboys rebound like a phoenix from the fire before being blown out of the air at the last minute. Really wasn't bad at all doing of of those, and I do not care for the upstroke-priming on the SDB anyways.
  12. I just did a little fitting on a semi-fit Bar-sto. Did a small amount of careful filing on the front where it locks up, not really any on the bottom lug. What really helped the fit become tight, but not too tight like it came, was filing just a bit off the back recoil lug. Now it drops right in but really tightens up the frame to slide fit. No vertical, and very little horizontal play as compared to the factory barrel. The tight fit also put several surface scratches in the finish so I put my own version of a brushed finish on it. I like it and that's what counts lol
  13. I'm fairly certain if a case got powdered twice it wouldnt hold all of it, or at minimum more easily notice it at the top of the case when I set the bullet on.
  14. Appreciate all the advice. I'll definitely be more sensitive to something like that happening again.
  15. Its brand new so I wouldn't think it'd need the cleaning or lube. I'm using 4.3gr of N340
  16. Yeah, I know I had some stoppages. I just gotta be more careful and check each case.
  17. So I'm testing my 40 reloads and somehow one of them didn't get powder in one round using my Dillon SDB. Has to be my fault, not blaming the equipment. Well I hear a soft "poof" and the slide doesn't cycle. Next round wont chamber. I guess the primer had just enough pressure to get the cast boolit stuck halfway into the rifling. Easily cleared once I got home, but really made me think about how much attention I need to be focusing on my reloads (not that I was half-assing it, but I dropped the ball clearly). I'm just glad I wasn't able to chamber another round and blow my Glock 22 up injuring myself (thankfully no one else was at the range at the time if such were the case). I also need to be much more aware of my pistol while firing. Only the second time I've had it out at the range. A very sobering experience, and thankful it wasn't worse. No one will ever be shooting my reloads as a rule from now on. (One thing with the SDB is that in cycling the press it does tend to "splash" a few kernels of powder out moving from stage 2 to 3. Slowing down should cure that (I wasn't blazing it to begin with), and help me be more attentive to my powdered cases).
  18. Another dumb question. If the once fired brass is roll sized is the GRX process necessary?
  19. Me too! I ordered another 1000 once fired brass... The first 700ish went surprisingly fast, maybe a couple hours if that. I don't have the funds for a stainless media set-up, but I ran a couple handfuls of brass in a 1lb powder bottle for 20 minutes in my vibratory tumbler and it did a very good job of cleaning them up. A drop of Dawn and lemon dishwasher soap. Still some grunge in the bottom of the case, but much cleaner and no grease on the cases.
  20. Thats what I did originally, per Redding's instructions, and that's how I got the cases jammed together. Working great now though. Edit: It wasnt contacting the base, but the top of the plunger. Now I see the error of my ways! Thanks Steve
  21. Sarge, You got me to thinking and I was able to cut the case off very carefully with a dremel without damaging the pushrod. Got things set up correctly and things are going smoothly. My reloads without going through the GRX all ran fine, but this allows me to give each piece and inspection which I do like. Thanks
  22. This WAS my Shadown Target Duo that I had to part with... Probably would've been cheaper just to keep it, actually, I know it would have. Oh well...
  23. So this happened when I was trying to set up my Redding GR-X. I'm guessing I don't have the die in far enough to where it pushes enough of the case through to avoid this? I'd give it another try but I did something even more stupid by putting a case in up-size down in the push rod to try to get these out, and now I have a case firmly stuck in the push rod that isn't coming out. Wonder if I can just find that part somewhere. Thanks!
  24. So I've now tried out two rounds of my first reloads for 40. 4.3 of N320 will make major using 180's from Unique precision. Pretty snappy and I'd like to get a 14 or 15lbs spring if I run this (using 13lb right now). 4.4gr of N340 wasn't getting me close to Major, barely cracked 800fps. Now 4.4grs of N340 with the Unique 200gr's was very soft and ample for Major, could probably even drop a tenth. I've decided to cast and have had Tom and Accurate Molds to work up a design for me. Here's what he has right now, waiting to here back if he can bump it up to 195 and stay under .650. Thanks for all the help everyone

    Frakenglock

Exactly... If I went with an STI I wouldnt have had the funds to reload which I really enjoy, and its so simple to do anything I'd ever need to on a Glock.
