  1. drop by the CPSL match tomorrow at Greenville gun club, starts at 10:30. It is a very fun match with a hybrid of IDPA and IPSC rules, occasionally a carbine or shotgun is thrown in. It is very laid back and new comers are very welcome. In fact, bring you gun, holster, mag carrier and 125 rounds or so and have fun. the scoring is simple and the best way to introduce a newcomer to action shooting. Tomorrow is all handgun. chuck PS: also look into the Skip-J range in Anderson for monthly idpa and other matches. You can easily shoot every weekend around here.
  2. 2 targets in the van with one no shoot. this was a tough one. as the sun changed positions, the inside targets became very difficult to see and you essentially had to shoot at the mass and hope for the best. For the most part this match rewarded accuracy better than most of the local matches I have been to that seemed to involve more running with targets somewhat closer. It was run very well and all had a good time. it helped that the weather was just about perfect for a change.
  3. my older Gen 2 guns had the dull finish and my newer Gen 3s have the slicker finish and now my Gen4 34 has the duller finish again. I much prefer the duller finish. I have to put grip tape on the rear of the Gen3 guns so I can get a good grip, but not so on the dull finished guns. Both finishes seem to wear with holster use and I find that perfectly ok. the tenifer is impregnated into the steel and has no effect on the finish you actually see, that is why you will not get rust on the shiney parts of the slide. glocks just seem to look right with the dull finish to me.
  4. I wonder if they were not speaking of multiple targets being engaged with out changing positions, such as an El Presidente. In that case I can see keeping your sight picture and moving the gun to the target. I do not see how you could maintain a sight picture while moving to another engagement
  5. it seems to me that my natural tendancy during longer focused shots is towards a modified weaver type of stance, but during the fast paced shooting of most of a match I just let my body find the fastest position to pull off the shot with accuracy. So in reality, the shot and stage design dictate my stance for the most part.
  6. I am trying to get to that course also and have read the AARs on using 9mm as opposed to the 45. However, it would seem to me that if you only shoot 45, especially in competition, you would want to take that to the school, so as to become as proficient as possible. Perhaps you will not qualify as high with it as you would with a 9mm, but is that really the point? Maybe time to switch to the Wilson 9mm for good.
