  1. Echo everything CHA-LEE states. I shoot a Limited in USPSA (9mm minor & 40 major) and steel matches and if I were starting over ... I would go with a 2011 for all the reasons posted above. EAA is terrible at every aspect of being a gun distributor in the USA and just the lack of parts availability is enough reason to buy a different brand for competition.

When I bought the Witness Limited for around $975, it was by far the most gun for the money in the limited division. In today's market with EAA Witnesses going for $1200, I would try to find a used 2011.

  2. You need the upper (slide, barrel, spring) and mags. See the two attached photos. I run 9mm & 40 cal. I originally bought a 9mm limited and later purchased a 22 conversion and 40 cal conversion. The full upper conversions (9mm, 40 cal etc.) take about 6 months to get from the wonderful EAA corp. Last year my 40 cal conversion was about $460 and now I think they went up to crazy $700 prices. It runs great in 40 or 9. EAA will tell you the upper needs to be "fitted". Nope, I just slapped the 40 cal upper on, noticed the slide was pretty tight fit so I lubed it up with slide-glide, racked the slide about 100 times before going to the range. I'll continue to run 9mm and 40 but I'll sell the 22 conversion.

It may be easier, cheaper, and much faster to buy a used 9mm.

    Good luck.

  3. FYI - Maybe this post will save same someone a little research time when buying mag pouches for their Witness. The attached image is my favorite mag pouch with the inside rollers. They are unmarked and made by: http://www.hoeppner-schumann.de/index.php/katalog/category/view/11

Henning no longer sells them but Double Alpha does: http://www.doublealpha.biz/ipsc-holsters-rigs/pouches/hoppner-schumann-speedmag-5cw-3-pack

The ones I bought from Henning a couple of years ago had belt loops, now they come with Tek-Lok attachments.
