  1. For a NIB G34 is $515 a good deal? There's a local place that does sweet Glock deals for mil/leo
  2. Cycled from coast to coast last summer, burnt 25 pounds in 20 days, can you lose weight cycling?... yes Longer distance cycling will burn more fat and create leaner muscle. Shorter sprints will burn fat and give you thick muscle
  3. I'd like to stay in SSP division with this gun so single action 1911s are out As much as I'd like to stick with a familiar platform I want to try out SSP
  4. I was looking at the Glock 34, you don't like it? It's ok, but I'm at a point where I'm less than intrigued with plastic pistols. I think this weekend I'm gonna be able to test shoot one, we'll see. Anything specific you don't like? Recoil management, trigger etc?

  6. I'm thinking about trying out the 9mm world (always shot .45) and I'm thinkin about shooting SSP a bit too, mix it up ya know? In any case I'm askin if anyone's had good/ bad experience with these pistols and recommendations for either, I know this'll end up turnin into a Chevy/Ford argument but I'd at least like to know the pros/cons of either Thanks for the help -Sid [edit]- Just wanted to put another metal frame in there that I've been eyeballing...
  7. True, and that is good info to know next time I'm at the range with a timer. BTW that'll be Sunday I'm shooting a BUG match, should be interesting. Thanks for all the help though This noob to IDPA does appreciate it
  8. Ya the indoor range I was at was very picky about "rapid fire" shooting, although they allowed draws from the holster... So in my defense I was slowing it down quite a bit. I've never been criticized on my form or technique either for being sloppy and focusing on just being a speed demon on the draw, unless it's my coach, but he'd say Taran Butler needs work *jokingly of course* haha
  9. Thanks for all the replies and help. As of right now I'm still unclassified so I'm working on my draw time the most and "mozambique drills" as I have an upcoming classifier. All the other advice I've taken on board and will be practicing those skills a lot.
  10. I have a Kimber conversion kit, you'll have to modify the mags if you want it to fit in a 1911 with a widened magwell. It seems they were designed to fit flush into older 1911s and flare out on the bottom. It really liked 40gr high velocity .22lr, but there were a few FTFs, I'm positive it was due to the spring pressure not being strong enough to push a round up as fast as the slide returned, thereby jamming the fresh round at an angle into the chamber... but it was accurate out to 50yds and it has the same adjustable target sights I'm used to.
  11. Mozambique drill from yesterday @ 10yds w/ SA Trophy Match .45ACP. All strings <2.5 seconds
  12. Thanks, the comments are appreciated. At my first match it was my draw that held me up big time, I took 3rd by like 20 seconds and I had 0 dropped point on 3 of 5 stages, I think it was mostly due to the fact that my holster was crap and I was using a hoodie that kept snagging the grip... Since then I purchased a 5.11 vest and Serpa holster My last range visit I practiced the draw, double taps and a bit of the mozambique drill. Trying to get out of the service pistol slower rate of fire habit is a pain
  13. I'll post vids the next time I shoot. I have dry fire practice vids now with a par timer, drawing under a second however I feel anyone can blaze outta a holster in practice so it's slightly unrealistic.
  14. I'm fairly new to IDPA, but not to competitive shooting. Just curious what a "fast" draw time is. I shoot CDP and I've been practicing with my 1911 and Blackhawk Serpa holster both concealed and non-concealed... From buzzer to trigger pull at 7yds I've been averaging 1 second (no cover garment) and 1.5 w/ and not "point shooting" all hits in -0
  15. I'm a noob on this forum.. but experienced shooter (Palma, IDPA, High-Power, Trap, Skeet, 3-gun... ya) my .02 1)Front sight, front sight, front sight, breathe and squeeze 2)Like in gambling, your last bet (or shot) doesn't matter anymore, forget it and see #1
  16. New to this forum, checked it out a few times. I'm an NRA High Master for High Power rifle, I've shot Palma for 6 years and a fairly new 3-gunner. My setup is a SCAR 17s, Benelli Supernova, and SA 1911 trophy match (I shoot Heavy Metal). Just sayin hello to all and this is a great forum! Btw I'm not FROM Maryland, just here for a few years (military). Originally from Oklahoma.
