  1. Stages 2 and 3 I was actually testing to see if the SCAR would have a FTF due to the pressure on the magazine since I haven't run that many rounds through it and I wanted to really test its reliability. For future reference though I'll for sure base it on the table. Thanks for noticing that. Summit Point is located in West Virginia at Summit Point Raceway http://spshooters.com/ In shooting heavy metal, I have to stick with irons, unless the match is big enough to offer heavy metal optics division. Thanks on all the other advice though too. I noticed I was crowding the wall. Being a life long high power shooter and NRA expert, I feel my off hand is pretty solid, however, that stage had a time limit of 120 seconds and only five people finished the whole stage. There were a few who tried it offhand (it's at 100yds), and they got held up there and didn't even get to the shotgun transition so I played it safe with shootin prone. Stage 2 (the first stage my squad shot) was my first time firing my new Benelli and doing a reload in competition was during this match haha so yes I have lots to practice. I have some snap caps that I practice with frequently now... THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE AND HELP SO FAR!
  2. The holdup I had on stage 1 and 2 with the shotgun were caused by this: It was out of the box ammo too not a reload
  3. I ordered a G34 from hi-caliber guns located in WV *no affiliation* They have a great program and deal for military and LEOs so I couldn't resist the price and what they were offering. Plus the boss wants to try out IDPA and she likes the feel of it the most out of all the pistols (am I in trouble when there's not even a ring yet??) haha Well I guess that works... I can now use the excuse "OH I thought you'd like to shoot it too" in the future..
  4. haha he laughed at that.. his HK21 just got finished being built too... the luxuries of being from Nevada I s'pose
  5. I'm thinking it'd only be useful for closer range matches, or IDPA DMG matches where distances would be closer. There's a close match to where I live that only allows pistol caliber rifles too so that'd be a start. I heard one guy used his carbine for rifle and pistol since it was chambered in 9mm...
  6. My buddy's only "rifle" is an mp5 and he'd like to try out 3 gun... as long as he doesn't throw it over to full auto I assume it'd be legal in some division right??
  7. I know I was a bit slow on rifle, but please critique my performance. I had two FTEs with the shotgun due to ammo not shotgun, other than that I took first in my division. It was also my first 3 gun match Gear (heavy metal): FN SCAR 17s Benelli Supernova SA Trophy Match Stage 1 shotgun only Stage 2 3 guns
  8. Do you recommend going with the tritium sights or some type of adjustable sight?
  9. I was talking to a guy Sunday who said if you send it in to Glock they can refit it with different springs, trigger etc for basically 57 bucks... ???
  10. I'm going with the Glock 34. Next question, is $505 a good price or can some places beat that? -Should I send it in to Glock to have a trigger job/ new sights put on it or somewhere else?
  11. what sv-cop said, square up your stance a bit more and you'll gain a bit more stability than that lean you've got goin on (from what it looked like). Otherwise pretty solid shootin, speed comes with time and practice- slow is smooth and smooth is fast
  12. Ya a few of the shooters did complain about it, since it was only a club level match though we just went with it, it wasn't too difficult a stage Was definitely interesting though
  13. Since it was a BUG match, the match director had some creative license to mix things up a bit... At least that was the reason given to us. All I know is one guy in my relay shot it and was notttt happy.
  14. We had one crazy stage with a barrel to shoot through then 5 targets set up pyramid style at about 3 6 and 9 feet from the barrel with a swinger that would swing and block all the targets as it went through its range of motion. On the signal you had to pull the stop for the swinger w/ your strong hand, kneel and engage targets but if you hit the no shoot swinger it was a FTDR... Geez it was an adrenaline rush not to hit it.
  15. At yesterday's "BUG" match, (I shot my 1911 in CDP), I averaged 1.4 draws. One stage was to draw SHO and from retention fire five shots, I did it in 2.1 and down zero from 1 yd and the same thing at 4yds SHO (extended) in 2.7 not too bad. I placed 1st in my division and 2nd overall, an SSP shooter took 1st overall by 4 seconds
  16. I called czcustom and they said their shadow was within weight and legal for SSP. I think I like the metal frame over the Glock composite feel too... I'll give it a couple more days, maybe tomorrow at the match I'm shooting someone'll have a CZ or G34
  17. Thanks a lot. I'm trying to expand my shooting experience to more than just rifle work. So far I've thoroughly enjoyed IDPA, thanks for all the help too on this forum.
  18. I think I'm pretty sold on the idea of a CZ, the CZ Shadow, if it makes weight for SSP is the gun I'll go with, online it says they're 2lbs 7oz w/ the 19rd mag, which is right at 39oz for the division. Anyone know of a good place to buy them from online and have shipped to an FFL?
  19. Maybe it's my 1911 mindset, hammers, sears, triggers etc, little performance mods I s'pose. BTW I just drove to a shop and handled the CZ75, I must say it's a very solid 9mm. Not what I was expecting for feel and weight
  20. Ohhh that's good to know about the Hi-Power (is my noob showing?) Haha Hmmm seriously considering the 34 now, this weekend I'll get the chance to shoot them both to see how they run. For the CZ does anyone have issues finding parts/ accessories etc?
  21. motosapiens- I do believe it's legal if you modify it a little bit to make weight, it should come in right around 38ounces and the phantom's even lighter. dskinsler- thanks for the info on what you did, if I go through with the G34 I'm sure I'll be making some modifications and that'll come in handy. I do like the aftermarket support Glock has and the availability of everything for them. solaritx- thanks for the heads up, I'll find him and send a PM. With the CZ I'm curious what people like, the decocker or safety or the phantom model.
  22. Another question, what's a typical price to pay for the trigger and other mentioned upgrades? Not familiar with Glock aftermarket stuff...
