I would like to see the cross section throat of a super barrel after a bunch of 9 major compared to the correct caliber shot.

Most fun matches let you email and ask for a check and will adjust scores according. According to the rules it is your responsibility to check scores and that's why most big matches require a signature on each stage. It is up to shooter to verify their scores and you get what you get if you do not.
I had a friend jump on the plane at the Nationals and not verify. One stage was entered 155.67 instead of 15.67. If I remember right that dropped him like 30-40 places

I can shoot 9mm 38 Super and 38 Super Comp through my .40 but since they all 4 have different dimensions not sure why I would even try. Just because you can do something doesn't mean its a good idea.
That was an extreme example but I guess I draw my lines closer than others.
I use D cell batteries in my flashlight even though I could probably make C and even AA work
Oh and yes you can convert to 9mm using the above suggestions but remember the good Cheaper i don't pick up brass and the bad I can't reuse brass much, sometimes a bad one sneaks in and jams(course a Super can jam this way too just not as often)

I've been carrying my STI Tactical 5.0 as my duty pistol for several years now, with no complaints or
reliability issues. The pistol also serves double duty as my Limited gun.
Do you think knowing somebody that knows how to tune STI mags helps?

Area 8 checked a mag at chrono

Welcome to the forums! Where in SW Ohio? Tons of USPSA in this corner of the state!
Including a match Sunday in Oxford. USPSA is way more fun
Match in Circleville Saturday too

If I have to fire 16 - 28 rounds, I start with the 170 mm.
Fewer than 16, I start with a 140 mm. (9mm major).
If I need 32 rounds, I'll start with the 170 and reload the 140.
I'm more consistent (faster) reloading a 140 than a 170.
I don't worry about the 170 coming out of the gun - I just drop it and reload the 140.
BUT, I'm only a B Open - you might want to wait for the M & GM's to chime in.
That's how I do it. I try not to reload a 170 but sometimes the stage design dictates you should.
Dropping mags is part of the game.

That was akai stroked shorty. Tons of holes. I'm literally switching to CFE this weekBill,
What type of bbl and length are you usingni. Your blaster? I want to try 115 grns and CFE in my gun.
Thanks in advance
My gun is 5 in new KKM barrel no holes which is slow so ill be in the same range I think. Both 38 Super 115 gr MG

I posted data on another thread. 38 Super 8.2 115 gr Montana Gold 1.235 Blow your gun up its your fault. That's what I'm shooting for the rest of the year.

Storage is the key. I understand that they have the original lot of Bulleye that they load and check. Its supposed to be perfect. How old is that?
-
Treat it like a club match and your placement will be higher than you think.
Go out and try to "win the Nationals" and you will probably have more penalties than stages.
This year is a special "large" Nationals and is pre World Shoot so I would plan on lot's of difficult shots and positions.

I recommend inviting people. Eyes and ears and provide loaners if necessary. The real important thing is to engage new people. Try to remember what it felt like the first time you shot.
I do this shooting legally and have no problem people knowing what it is.

I like to motivate correctly. Gator pit in each side.
I don't like that one two step thing. Judgment calls could factor in. Use barriers and make it so they gotta stay on to shoot stage fast like said above

I find autocomp initial pulse "harsh" for lack of a better word. Now as said I would shoot it if it's all I had or free. After shooting the same powder for 16 yrs (one of the secrets to shooting fast) this year I had to switch cause you get what you get. It was easier to switch I think cause I'm shooting way more and better. Guess what ? After natls I get to switch again. I think it will be fine. Hey sponsor pays for it but half the price and 200 more round per lb makes it a no brainer. CFE in October

That is why I like 38 Super. I can use any powder that I would like to and 9mm can't.
Which powders are these Bill? I've heard the comment many times but no specific powder referenced. I ask with honest curiosity, because I know in theory 38 should be able to hold a larger charge of slower powder, but in practice I run into a lot of 38 guys running faster powders with heavier bullets than I do in my 9.
I'm sure I'll misstate one but how about 3n37 3n38 AA7 n105 to start? I only use 115gr bullets so a heavier bullet might open possibilities
Well Bill, I've never used any of those powders, but I use SP2 and VV says 3N38 can use the same data so that's where I base my assumptions:
I've made 181PF with a 115gr bullet over 9.5gr of SP2 (I pushed the charge weight all the way to 10.0 and didn't get any more velocity), I I would assume similar results from 3N38; 3N37 is faster and according to the VV published data takes roughly 85% of the charge weight to make the same velocity, so that should be no problem; N105 is slightly slower than 3N38 (the data shows ~1.5% more powder for the same velocity) so since my normal load is 9.3gr of SP2, I would think 9.4-9.5gr of N105 should safely make major; AA#7 is certainly too slow to make major in 9mm as it seems to take ~15% more powder than 3N38 to make the same velocity.
I have read posts from multiple users here that say they shoot 9 Major with both 3N38 and N105 (if I can get my hands on some I intend to try both).
The point of my previous comment is that I don't know anyone shooting 38 super using powders in this range, most guys I talk to (and who's pistols I've shot) are loading HS-6 or AutoComp under a 124gr bullet so while I know 38 super has the potential to create more gas, but I think there are a lot of 38 shooters not using that potential. On the contrary, I think I am squeezing every pit of potential out of the 9x19 case and am very happy with it (that's not to say I will never borrow/buy a .38 super gun, do my own load development and fall in love ).
3n38 in 9mm? I guess if you don't mind loading 1 round in 5 sec as you try to not spill it. Depending on your barrel's speed (actual powder load) the OAL will change as the powder forces the bullet up. I am sure somebody will tell me that they made it work. Great. I'm getting ready to load 1K for next weeks matches and practice so I don't have time for problems. I am still glad that I shoot 38 Super for the reason I stated. 9mm is great cause you can leave your brass at matches. I think its up to you to decide which is important to you.
I don't like Autocomp and could tolerate HS6/CFE if that's all I had. If Autocomp gave me cases of powder free and 124 gr bullets free I would shoot them forever. Oh and if I had a sponsor that said I had to shoot a 9mm that too.

It's pretty easy. Your mileage may vary and if you blow up your gun its your own d&** fault.
8.2 1.235 in starline brass, CCI primer seems to be a good load for one of the guns I load for. Its very HS6 like.
The only negative I see is the dirt it leaves on the scope and brass is something special. You need Hoppes 9 to get it off of the scope and the brass seems to be a lost cause. I like my brass very shiny.
Oh I'll add a teammate is loading 9mm major with a little less charge because of the shorter higher pressure. He is a GM and thinks its basically a HS6 replacement

Some of you kids make me laugh. When PF was 175 of course everybody was above that in the 182 range. I have shot guns (not mine) 200+ and yes that is dangerous. Even more so with the crappy powders we had then. Blue Dot was famous for Super Face.
Don't get into the "flatter" gun but the timer is the final decision for me.
I do miss the older days of real power in DVC and am pretty sure pistol smiths that couldn't make guns run at 175 got the ear of those in charge to lower it to 165. Even Open is a different challenge at 180.

Great match value and to a great cause.

Ya missed one and possibly mis stated one
I think the necked down one you meant was 9x25 Dillon. It was a 10mm necked down to 9mm so people could go to the extreme of 18 grains of powder looking for the "flattest" gun made. It is an example of how you can go too far in any direction but was shot but such unknowns as Robbie. That's sarcasm for you less enlightened.
I don't remember a 9x22 but the 9x21 was very popular. It is basically a 9mm profile just a little (2mm) longer. It was developed by countries ( I think Italy) that don't allow their regular citizens to shoot a military round (9mm)
It is a lot more expensive than regular 9mm but it could be a compromise solution since it could hold more powder
That is why I like 38 Super. I can use any powder that I would like to and 9mm can't.

Never replaced a frame just sold guns after 3 barrels/comps to get something new. Cracked my first slide this year with around 75K. Almost every other single part on a 2011 I have worn out or broke. In no particular order Grip, Sear, Hammer, FP Stop, Pins, Extractor, Ejector are the common wear parts
