  1. I want a USPSA Production gun with a 5in barrel.
  2. Great video My goal right now is to be smooth first. I'll try to add speed with more practice later.
  3. We did my uncles 20g with slugs. Not an open gun but hunting gun
  4. This will be first full year of competition type shooting. I picked up an FN SLP for my shotgun. Now I would like to upgrade my rifle. Last year I used my Stag AR with Burris AR332. I would like to get a better rifle set up. I've been looking at the Noveske 18" Rogue Hunter 5.56mm. I'm thinking of buying just upper and putting it on my Stag lower. Any thoughts on upper versus complete gun, or other option. Also want to add a 1-4 scope rather than red dot.
  5. You answered one of my questions. I have three mags for my FNX 9mm and three mags for my G23. How many more mags would be suggested to have? You need to have a minimum of four mags, and preferably at least 6 mags, to shoot production. Also, a compact gun, especially in .40, is not ideal for the sport, although you shouldn't be discouraged from trying. I figured the compacts aren't the best, but for now two or three more extra mags will be the way to go. I was leaning towards the FNX 9mm also.

  7. Thank you for all the great info everyone
  8. This will be my first time shooting the PSA. Will there be vendors set up?
  9. Thanks for the info on guidelines I should of been more specific like timers, target size and dummy rounds
  10. How do you go about dry fire practice? What is the correct way?
  11. I'm very green around here. I was shooting my SLP the other week for the first time and had a few fire burst out of my gun also. I shot 25 rds of Federal 2 3/4, 7.5, 3 dram with no flames. I then tried some older Remington stuff my cousin had. I shot 4 rds of that with some big fire balls
  12. I just ordered this the other day for my SLP. Picked it up for the 10rd matches. http://www.powerfactorshooting.com/briley_magazine_extension_with_coupler_package_dea_p/8rd-9rd-mag-extension.htm Might help the budget.
  13. They did group very well. I shot two boxes of each with alot of rounds not cycling the gun. I'm shooting a new SLP with about 50rds of target load and 30rds of slugs threw it so far. Will that gun cycle better after more rounds. I thought I read they are stiff in the beginning.
  14. Dean, I thought the dates were posted for the State Shotgun and Rifle matches at Topton.
  15. I tried three different slugs today. Win. reduced recoil, Rem. low recoil and Wolf. Wolf was the only one that cycled the gun. Winchester shot the best groups. It was pretty cold, mid to high 20's. I never shot slugs in a match yet. Does the target size get bigger out past 50yds? If not... I'm in big trouble Keep testing I guess. And more practice.
  16. Did some ammo testing in the shotty's. A few things about the B&P, the round is a tad longer than the others and did cause some issues in my Otto caddies. We had a Benelli, an 1100 and a SLP. None of them would cycle the B&P slugs, I mean not even one round cycled! The 1100 has the ports enlarged, so this was a tad disturbing. These three guns ALL run Rem, Win, Fed, Wolf reduced recoil rounds 100%. The recoil was much less with the B&P slugs than the others we tried. Accuracy was acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Looks like I'll have to find a pump gunner to pawn these off on. Wow... you just saved me money. I was gonna order some B&P. Thanks for the post.
  17. Might be a silly question but what brand slugs and buckshot are you guys using for 3 gun and shotgun matches? I'm looking to start stocking up.
  18. I did it again yesterday I blew the first stage by not even engaging a target. After the stage was over I sat down and thought to myself... I didn't even see my sights on the last two targets. I just pointed the gun. After that did alot better except for the third stage with four of the eight targets in row, I skipped one for another 10 sec pen. I had 20 seconds in added time for missed targets. Other then those two big screws ups I didn't do bad. After looking at the scores just hitting the targets I move up four spots. On the positive side... I did very well on the last stage with only one 1 second pentaly. I also was shooting my FNX 9mm for the very first time. I bought it on Monday and didn't get any range time before the match.
