Not sure if you shoot IDPA but if you do, the grip safety can't be pinned or you risk being dq'ed at a major

Do the current STI mags function properly with the new style SVI grip or is there modifications that need to be done to get them to work?

Depends on the magwell. Wilson has one that bolts on with your grips. Some are attached to the main spring housing. And others attach independently. So it depends on which ones you get.
So, would any 1911 mag well fit on the Remington? Which would be easiest attach? And what makes for a good mag well?
The ice magwell is easy to install, it comes with a mainspring housing, so you just swap out the existing one with the new one and you are good to go. The SVI and techwell installs are easy as well but the techwell requires you to buy their grips or you have to modify your existing ones. I have the ice magwell but am thinking about buying the SVI magwell in the near future

Dp ice, SVI or tech well for the magwell, trigger job, and fiberoptic front sight, and possibly new grips depending on your preference

Look at getting it from brazos, or one of the other vendors that sells the tuned edges, they will do the work that is needed to get them running and make any tweeks

May need a more powerful load, I know a bunch of guys here that run a minimum of 1300fps otherwise it doesn't run 100%. Either that or you may not have a firm enough hold on it. I haven't had an issue with mine to date.

I picked up the JM Pro but only because I was on a budget (waiting on a JP then saving for an SV). It runs great and I am more than happy with it, but if money wasn't an issue, I'd buy one of the custom ones you are looking at.

I bought a JM pro a few months ago, I have had great luck with it. It has run flawlessly to date. It's good to go for 3gun right out of the box and the pricepoint is a big selling point. I haven't tried the versamax but have also heard good things...

I have one and have been very happy with it, its run flawlessly out of the box. And for the price you really can't beat it. I needed it for a 3gun match and didn't want to shell out the money for the benelli, fn slp, or versa max. If you can find one, jump on it

love my STI sentry, but Id probably go with a Trojan if i were to do it again because of the changes that i did to it. i could have saved a few bucks. as mentioned above you can get the Trojan Hard chromed.

You would need to change the ejector in the 40 to 45 change, but if you were going 9 to 40 it would not be an issue to do what you descibed above.

Thanks for the info, it seems that a 50 yard zero with a 6 o clock hold will be the way I go since most distances I will see will be less than 200 yards anyways.

Thanks for all the replies, just as an update, my friend bought the 9mm eagle and it has run flawlessly from brazos. He opted to get the stock magazines too since it is going to be used for IDPA exclusively.

I'm looking for some suggestions as to where I should sight my scope in. I picked up a trijicon 1-4 accupoint with the triangle reticle and am not sure where to start as far as sighting it in for 3gun. I will be shooting mostly local events with distances out to 300 or so. I also only have a 100 yard range to work with. Should I sight the scope in on 4x magnification at 100 yards? Or another distance. Any help is appreciated

I thought AR uppers were a dime a dozen, then my friend let me shoot his JP, needless to say I now have a JP rifle on order.
I have heard good things about the other companies too but I voted for JP since I have used one.

What is the better optic, the trijicon ta11 3.5x35 or the trijicon ta31 4x32? Any input that can be provided is appreciated

Thanks, for the replies, I got it straightened out with JP, it didn't have the smaller comp listed as a possible combination when I was doing my riflebuilder, they got it fixed and i'm going with the small comp so I don't get bumped to open.
They are great to work with by the way, i'm glad I am getting my rifle through them

I'm getting a JP rifle built and am not sure which comp to go with. The tactical(smaller) one or the larger one. My concern with the larger one is that I don't know if it will put me in a different division for USPSA multigun. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I voted 47d's because they run in all my 1911's in 45, I have one etm for my 9mm 1911 and it doesn't run in my gun...I know this is not apples to apples but its what I based my vote on.

I have the STI Sentry and if I were to do it again, I'd probably get the Trojan from brazos, reason being is I changed out most of the differences between the Trojan and the sentry... That said, I have had great luck with STI and would definitely choose them again for "a non-custom" 1911.

I agree with the other posts telling you to reconsider. I went out and bought an AR because it was cool, then my friend let me try his JP. Needless to say my bushmaster is being sold to fund the JP purchase.
But that's just an opinion. It's your money spend it as you'd like...

Out of the 2 you mentioned, I would probably go with the Baer. I do love my STI but the Les Baer is on my short list of guns to acquire in the future.
