  1. I bought the fiber optic front sight from Dawson, not the blank one. It dropped the aim. I then thought "Hmmm... Ok... Maybe I need to get the rear sight as well..." So I did and it went worse. It is not a good product. Even with the sight covering the bulls eye, it still drops. You end up having to align the dot with the top of the rear sight, AND cover the bulls eye to hit it. Please, do not believe me, buy their sight for the K100/GP6. Please, go ahead. I am done trying. So, you bought the wrong size front sight and you're blaming it on Dawson? Did you group the gun with the factory front sight? If so, was it POA/POI? Dot or tip of blade? Did you buy the SAME height as factory front sight from Dawson? After the install it changed your POI with the dimensions being the same? IF that is the case then yes, there is an issue. If you bought a different height front sight then you need to stop calling the Dawson product poorly designed... You really should clear this up as you're disparaging a retailer/manufacturer and your posts are REALLY confusing as you DIDNT link to the sight you supposedly bought... I bought the only fiber optic available. It was not well designed as it drops the aim. If you have your slide machined, then maybe sinking a Bomar in your slide will help fix it. The fiber optic that I bought cannot be found anymore on their web site and there was only one available height, it was the same in design as the blank front sight. This is why the X-Calibur is such a great gun. Again: do what you want, be happy. I am only trying to help. So...at the time, you bought something that didnt work for you for whatever reason. Do you have measurements of both sights? How did it change your POI? How much of a deviation? Dawson offers different sight heights now so you have other options to tune your POI to your load. Your findings are hardly worth a condemnation of an entire product line, especially considering this phantom product you speak of no longer exists.
  2. I liken this to Glocks traditionally shooting high out of the box. Some guns LOVE the .215 front sight and some need a .235 or .245 front to bring the POI down. The best course of action is always to group the gun with the factory sights, measure your factory front and then buy accordingly.

  4. You are preaching in the desert...because you're only right IF you want a black front sight. http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=8000186D-1388518386 There are plenty of sight height options if you want a fiber front. Condemning an entire product line without looking at the entire picture is bad form bud.
  5. They drop your aim. They were not designed properly and I strongly advise against using them. If anything, get a Bomar cut in the slide for E/W adjustment and then, maybe, use the Dawson or even better the Grand Power fiber optic front sight. Im not following you. Dawson offers multiple heights so that you can adjust your POI... Are you saying the Dawson sights mechanically affect the gun to cause it to shoot low???
  6. Nick, What exactly is wrong with the Dawson sights?
  7. No, it will not fit in a standard m9 holster.
  8. Anyone have anymore info on this? Pictures, etc? I scoured the web but its probably too soon after IWA for anything to actually show up.
  9. Agreed, the triggers have great potential. Unfortunately the guns are hamstrung by shitty sight options.
  10. Did you check Google? Brownells? Beretta themselves?
  11. The Wilson sights are a .125 thick front with a .150 rear sized notch. Most people shooting competition prefer a thinner sight setup.
  12. Grand Power pistols are already used by law enforcement in several police forces around the world. It is true that a decocker would be a plus and could help obtain a contract, it is not a necessity considering the fact that many police forces allow their officers to carry a ... 1911 (in condition 1, of course). We're also mostly talking about the X-Calibur on this forum, and for us a decocker is barely a necessity. Speak for yourself. Shooting sports arent really about needs, its more about wants.
  13. Did your CZC hammer work with the SRS kit from CGW? Ive heard that the kit is not compatible with the hammer.
  14. From a training perspective, ive gotten incredibly lazy with the factory decocker on my P09. That is why i was curious as to whether or not grand power would be offering the xcal with a decocker. I would wait if there was such an option.
  15. There was some mention of factory decocker models... I dont see them listed on the US site. Are there plans to bring those over as well? Say, a factory decocker excal model?
  16. Do these have the same trigger mechanism as the xcalibur line? Or, have the newest pistols been updated?

    Two P09 questons

No trigger return spring issues and im up to almost 6k rounds on my original CGW's trigger spring. The sight dovetail is not the same. You're stuck with sights cut for the P09 or a custom dovetailed cut to make other sights fit.
  18. Im sure this has been discussed but im asking again. What is a reasonable street price based off of the MSRP? Ie, what have you guys paid?
  19. Not really. The pivot poin on it is all kinds of weird. The ledge is not exactly positioned properly either. You have to use more of the base of the pad of your thumb rather than the tip of your thumb to disengage it.
  20. Buy once, cry once. The gun itself is only 440 bucks.
  21. Sorry guys, my sentence was poorly worded. I meant, if you put a GUN WITH a safety on the table, there's a possibility of it coming off. Since the Glock has no manual safety, that possibility doesnt exist. Sorry for the confusion.
  22. The point im making is that the glock has no "damnit" factor. Meaning, you put the safety on, drop it on the table and an edge catches the safety, taking it off. There you go, DQ. It can happen. Its just something to consider in the grand scheme of things. The safety on the P09 is horrific. The decocker at speed is less horrific but not exactly great. The SP01 safeties also suck unless you have weird thumbs. They are NOT 1911 safeties. Just some food for thought.
  23. What are the rules like in regard to dumping pistols in 3 gun? With a DA/SA gun does it have to be decocked or...what? IF the gun has to be decocked, i would go with the G34 since that is the most simplistic trigger system. If you can just fling the thing away, i would go with the P09. The P09 is a softer shooting gun than the G34 and the sights track better due to the more natural grip angle or whatever magical mojo CZ puts into that gun.
  24. Dawson has a ton of very workable sight options.
  25. Yes. They are a factory part. Rock on.
