So would a smaller sight like a Holosun HS507C/Trijicon RMR or something more like HS510C/EoTech? Be a better choice. Does it even matter?

Green dot vs Red ?   Dot only vs Circle vs Circle with center dot? Yes I have been thinking about this for a while.

I think I'd like a really large window like the M21, but I have an RMR on my clays gun and it seems to work just fine. I have a Romeo 8H on my 3 gun Gen12 and LOVE IT!  How's that for a lesser than good answer? hahaha

If you run both eyes open, I don't think it matters on a long gun.  (multiple contact points to maintain eye-to-sight reference)

A discussion about putting a red dot. On a Sporting clays gun could(would) be interesting. To me it would be a lot different than an "practical"set up.(3 gun/)

If you watch some of the shot-kam videos out and about, you will see what I see when "claying" with a red dot.  I think it works pretty well.

That is a bit of a broad brush.  Must be a story behind this sentiment.

There are some fine people that shoot Sporting Clays.  I'm one of em 😉

I agree there are certainly some fine people in the the Clay games (you can me and...hahha), but Shotgun World has deleted my post of the two clay guns that I built for expressly for Sporting.

    The reason:

"By definition, Troll post = one made for no reason other then to stir the pot and start arguments, it meets that criteria. Most clubs do not allow that style firearm on their SC courses. Steve".

I admitted to wanting a discussion (Pro or Con or just Inquisitive) of the guns specifically from the competitive sporing clays community.   But after I negotiated with "Steve" I have been confined to posting in the Tactical section or Gunsmith section and..." then stay on subject with the forum title. Steve"

Are Sporting Shooters THAT fragile that they can't even see a photo???  I can't mention in the text I built them for Clays and they completely within the current rules?

I am sorry but at least that Mod Steve is a Fudd.  Shame because I am probably older that he is.

I need to throw a few bucks in the hat of this forum as I had no idea other forums we so closed off.

We are lucky to have this for free expression.

    Yours in Sport,

    Patrick

  4. I believe this episode "explains it".  Beyond that I will say...It is my fault.

I shot the Oregon State Championship with a 18+" Gen12 shotgun and it was not well received by those who

complain about such things.  For the record I conducted myself with calm professionalism,  My demeanor was not and issue.

This was the gun in question.  The rule is now 24" unless you get MD permission.

Quick correction, grams not grains, clearly this is my first shotgun.

The comp works against (resists) the barrel reciprocating (moving back into the receiver) and that can negatively effect an otherwise very reliable shotgun.

What are you goals? Have defined goals and that should direct you to the correct answer. If you are shooting for fun and do not care about outcome then shoot matches. Many in USPSA do just that. They practice little to no dry fire, or live fire drills and shoot only matches. If you truly want to progress quickly then dry fire drills, then confirmed by live fire drills (practice) is required. For the majority of locals I attend my results are a product of my level of participation. And by level of participation I mean practice. The commitment to truly get better requires these things.

In the beginning it's good to go to as many matches as you can to understand how the game works and get an idea of some of what your weak areas are. After that it's up to you to decide what you want to be in regards to skill level and what level you want to compete. Many find competing with others in their same classification is enough. Others want more, and more requires work.  Maybe alternate weekends. Dry fire does not require you go to the range just the time to do it at home. It. Is best to confirm your dry fire training with live fire training.

If you are going to dump tons of time in dry fire I would recommend books, you tube videos, web sites for study material from the likes of Ben Stoeger and/or Steve Anderson or someone of that caliber. Dry fire training performed incorrectly will only hurt not help.

One of the best answers to this question on all the web, to include... recognizing>>>   "If you are shooting for fun and do not care about outcome then shoot matches. Many in USPSA do just that. They practice little to no dry fire, or live fire drills and shoot only matches."  <<<

Very important update.  I just received a call from Genesis Arms regarding my purchase within the past half hour.  Allegra (sp?) explained to me that they are experiencing supply chain issues due to the Covid, which I understand, as the company I work for has experienced supply issues, as well as volatility in material prices due to the lockdown/work restriction measures in some areas of the country.  She assured me that they are processing orders as quickly as possible and stated they will keep better lines of communication with customers to allay any uncertainties.  Status as of this moment is, I'm staying the course and waiting for my Gen12.  Looking forward to posting in the future as to just how bad-azz it is.

I think you will be well pleased with your decision.  I am!  So far my Gen12 has seen several 3G and Sporting Clays events. Waterfowl later this year.

    What's an @kurtm????

When M.D.s quit designing stages around What facet of shooting do I want to test with this stage/ scenario based stages, and started thinking Round Count was king was when it started to slide. Anymore I see most 3-gun matches as, " hey to be better and bigger" we need stupid amounts for rounds. Stages designs that have this as their base......go scatter out a bunch of targets.....make it about 50 rounds of pistol, 30 rounds of shotgun and 70 rounds of rifle. Bigger is better! Well now reset raised it's timely head so these same M.D.s said we need a target system to suck up a bunch of rounds and won't need much reset ......hence crap targets like spinners, polish ate racks etc. And the idea of carrying all 3 guns on you came in vogue too, when would you ever sling a rifle to shoot a shotgun???? Once again no thought to what you want to test, just get that round count up and scatter a bunch of crap out there.

This Cat knows!  And I agree!!!

Take a 12 gauge bore brush,

Get a copper scouring pad at any grocery store.  Cut it into about 1/2" strips. Wrap it around the brush. Put the brush on a cleaning rod. Put the rod into a vise with

most of it sticking out. Run your barre up an down the rod. Turn the barrel around to do the choke end.

    Done!

I do the same but use a  cleaning rod chucked in a drill motor.

  10. Just read through this thread again for the 5th time.

Some of you know that my dear wife is slowly dying of metastasized breast cancer.

I am her caregiver (have lost my job to do so) and for months now I sit and watch her decay.

In-between her endless hours of sleep she has moments of lucidity mixed in with dementia.

Perhaps this is a test, perhaps karma owes me this, perhaps happenstance is at play. I just

know that my dear girl should not have to leave this earth so soon. And to have to suffer the ravages of this

insufferable disease while waiting her time is brutal for both of us.

Do you have a Patreon? You are one of the few guys worth giving money to if it helps keep these reviews going.

I am considering it, but right now I'd be taking money without being able to return much. Struggling with health issues at home.
