That's the numbers I'm used to getting lot 2219 was really slow. Lot 2224 is taking 4 tenths more to get to 170

  2. No never have. Most of what this gun sees is around 150 pf practice rounds. I shoot a lower pf in practice because it causes me to grip the gun to steady the dot. Only during prematch practice and matches does it ever see 173 pf

Plus the Extractor is pristine not a bend scratch crack nice nothing. Just as pristine as the day the Smith who fit the and cut the slide tuned it

  3. ok guys back fro mthe range

I loaded up some of my old auto comp I had left over as a control

9mm Major trubor with 3 holes

7.6 grains of auto comp ( old Notes says 175 pf This was before the 3 popple holes)

    124 JHP PD

    Tula SRP

    avg 1374 1371 1368

    SD 8 6

    pf 170 170 169

these numbers are right on the money so that validates my chrony and scale ect

so I then run several loads of hs 6 lot 2223

    8.8 grains HS6 Lot 2223

    124 JHP PD

    174 169 172

    again major pressure signs

soooo this might still work for you guys with no holes ect but if you have alot of holes or big comps you may want to be real careful.... I am surprised no has posted anything like this yet...

  4. OK so over the last couple weeks my 9mm Major trubor has been ever now and then failing to extract. I figure after about 15K rounds the aftec springs are ready for a swap. I clean pretty regular and pul the extractor about every 1500K and clean the tunnel so I pulled the aftec today and this is what i found. Now mind you out of the last 2000 or so rounds i have only had a few not extract maybe 5 just shot a match last wek and had zero issues

    20140111_172158-1.jpg

as you can one of the tabs have broken off the srping holder.

so then this catches my eye. thing is I dont have a clue how long it has been like this this is a new top end it may have 8K rounds on it.

    20140111_173015.jpg

is it actually broken or is that some sort of relief the smith who fit the top end put there... looks broken to me. posted the pic with the painted stock slide for refeance

but then there seems to be no isses with feeding or extraction.

the extractor passes the tension test no problems

    20140111_180854.jpg

so should I even worry about. Its primary gun right now till my new gun comes in from the smith. if it runs should i just continue to shoot it? and send it in when i get my new gun running ect...

what are you guys thoughts ?

  5. assume your katana has Popple holes and the old style comp you will be very unlikely to find a load that will work the comp and be as soft shooting as a faster powder that doesn't work the comp.

With that said i have tried several loads in my trubore 9 major with 3holes

    Hs-6 at around 115 pf with a 121 7pound spring

Tight group at 125 pf with a 124 9 pound spring

Wst with a 121/124 be careful with this one its an awesome load but you might have to stay with a 124 and as light a spring as you can get that will still strip rounds off the mag cause it doesnt take much to start seeing preasure

    Autocomp

My experience has been when using a duel purpose gun... Major and steel... Most often you are better off just using a faster powder and adjusting your spring weight

There is no point in giving charge weights because you are going to need to run as low a charge that will cycle the gun at a given spring rate for me it was 4.3 grains of wst with a 121 @ 1.165

So with that said and the powders you have on hand my top choice would be clays first then 7625

I would start at the given starting charge for 9mm ignoring the oal... Since I'm sure you are running at around 1.165 be prepared to run a 6 or 7 lb spring

I have always found that medium charges are not as good as just straight up full uspsa load or fast burning low pf loads. The medium charges give to much flip and doesn't justify the the little bit of comp work

Scratch all this If you are shooting a dedicated steel gun with a comp made to run at lower pf

Good thing here titanium is your friend

  6. Practice doesn't make perfect it makes permanent. For every rep you do wrong it will take something like 10 times as many to repair the damage of that wrong rep.

Before even thinking about going fast all your fundamental skills must be so ingrained at a sub conscious level that you are only calling on them to perform the action required. You cannot shoot with speed and your grip is not correct or your stance is not right.

This is a game of building blocks where each component builds on the other. People always tend to focus on shooting faster and seeing faster but fail to realize that is only a component of the skill. How about the ability to shoot from a stable platform aquire the sights go through the firing cycle ect at the speed it takes to shoot fast.

Unless you can make the fundamentals happen faster than you can pull the trigger and without thought it doesn't matter how fast you can see you won't be able to consistently hit what you are seeing anyway

I firmly believe that you should not try to shoot faster than your fundamentals allow. Once you are fundamentally sound than start fine tuning your vision and expanding your control zone.

Race car drivers have to get a permit when they are kids just like everyone else...
