grip your revolver as high as possible, the trigger as low as possible/comfortable.
I shoot a lot of 125gr plated bullets with vihta N340 & N320 in a compensated 6.5" barrel. It's a custom s&w mod 10 with a 1 hole compensator. I shoot it just for fun but he is fast, flat and accurate

be carefull, if your firingpin is in the forward position and you rack the slide you can loose your firingpin stopplate (1911)

Mark,
read this about the extractor (from brazos website)
http://www.brazoscustom.com/magart/ejection%20perfection.htm
don't know if the standard STI extractor is like this, I doubt becouse Brazos has to tune them this way
(voor een Aftec extractor kan je contact opnemen met Romain Baeyens in België, die heeft er mss nog enkele. http://www.shootpetoet.be/Baeyens.html) sorry for the Dutch language

check your triggerpull a few times a year. checked mine on my Baer (after 6 years) to compete for the Belgian championship PPC and found that the pressure was dropped under 1360 grammes.
little bending on the left spring and I'm back in bussines

gun is not mine or for sale...
I'm just impressed by this gun. I've never seen an 1911 with left side extraxion.
the gunsmith made it for himself couse he's lefthanded and tired of shooting right side orientated pistols.

the gun is now with the gunsmith, waiting for a new barrel (in belgium that can take weaks to months), gun never worked fine and the gunsmith can't find the problem by now.
gun is well lubed, springtension I don't know.
can the full lengt guide rod couse this problem?
If we know the problem I let you guys know, but it can take long. Getting the right components is a Hell in Belgium, the most US manufacturers don't deliver to Belgium and if they do it takes weaks or months...
gun is stainles, but not verry tight so I doubt the metal is "rubbing up"

last week I was talking to a fellow shooter, his friend had a custum open race gun based on a caspian slide & frame and is almost new.
after the gun is fired the slide come's back just for about 5mm and than freezes. frame and slide are not thigt like a Les Baer, the recoil spring is verry light (in my opinion), caliber is .38 super, load should be major. comp is a 7 or 9 port.
they removed a few ports from the comp but it's not helping. cycling by hand is not a problem.
is this a common problem when building a open compensated racegun?
they try a new barrel when it arrives but I don't think it's the solution...

Few years ago I saw a S&W mod 10 with a wilson combat sight welded on by a Gunsmith.
are there pics of non-adjustable Smith's with adjustable sight's?
I know LPA has an adjustable sight to replace the original adjustable sights using the hole's in the frame, perhaps I can dril the holes in a mod 10 frame like they did with my other mod 10 for mounting a reddot scope.

K-frame grips?

on the bottum of the page there is the PPC grip, I have small hands and use this grip on my open class mod 10. K nill is a German brand with top quality grips, but not cheap.
actually a vriend reproduced the grips in some kind of epoxy, so you can chose your own collor (he stopped making them, troubles with K nill :-( )
this is my fun shooter ( won the Belgian pin championship with this gun)
