  1. Seeing the laser move with recoil is a good thing. Forces me to hold the gun tightly and control the recoil like using a real handgun. You want to minimize laser movement and recoil to improve your shot to shot times just like with real pistol With my airsoft there's little recoil so I can be relaxed with my grip which is not realistic shooting.
  2. I just got the Coolfire Laser Trainer for my SVI Infinity .40 pistol. It's the best dryfire device I've used. I have $1000 worth of Tokyo Marui airsofts (Infinity and Glock handguns.) The Coolfire is so much better because you're using your own gun. The felt recoil is much better than my airsoft handguns. Here's their website: http://coolfiretrainer.com/ It's $399 for the Coolfire setup. I got their 1911 kit for my Infinity: http://coolfiretrainer.com/asccustompages/products.asp?fav=0&fpage=1&page=1&categoryID=9&productID=10&pStart=0&recNum=2 Here's the most informative video about the Coolfire... http://www.carbontv.com/videos/14eGtyczrjD1383fVU2h6BcegaR4rntA I made a quick video with my iphone. Not the best video but you get the idea
  3. jcollin160, are you using the EGW adapter? It costs $75, is it worth it over a Docter adapter which sells for $40 ?
  4. found these pics on the web... glock with Docter sight and adapter mounted: gives you an idea of how high the scope rides with an adapter installed: Forget about "co-witness of the slide" with this installation http://www.ccfa.com/reflex.htm
  5. Thanks DumboRat and TeamGE- I didn't realize that "co-witness" of the slide and scope was that beneficial. TeamGE- I wish I knew you were selling them because it's nice to support fellow practical shooters. I already ordered the Docter sight and adapter. I wonder if I should even bother with Arrendondo Pack- may be way too high with the adapter? Will have to consider machining the slide later if I like the Docter. TeamGE- you really like the Docter? I wonder why more top shooters aren't using it on their race guns. It seems like Docter type sights are more natural to use then the C-more according to what I've read. I've heard objections because the Docter sight is on a moving slide. But I read on JP' s site that you will not notice the sight move.
  6. I am considering a DocterSight for my SVI Infinity .40. I've read alot about it on this board and the Docter seems to be the one go with vs. the Optima or JPoint. I spoke with someone at Arrendondo and they said the doctersight adapter is "crap" and will not hold well. But he said the Arrendondo installation is permanent and you can't put a Bomar back on it afterwards Well I want to use the Docter adapter because I'm going to put it on my limited SVI gun just to experience optical sights. And be able to remove it later for when I decide that open is something I really want to get into. Then I'll get a full open gun and perhaps use the Docter on that. So are these Docter adapters really "crap" and will not hold at all? Arrendondo's " Installation service includes: machining of slide, O2K-1/DRS-1 Power Pak mount and installation $110.00 (includes shipping). Turnaround: 2 days." Fairly good price, IMO. Does the Power Pak really make a difference? machining of slide http://www.arredondoaccessories.com/ARR-Do...tor-install.pdf
  7. I am interested in getting an AR for 3 Gun Limited. I would like to go with JP Enterprises because I purchased a tuned SVI .40 pistol from him and it works beautifully. And because JP was pleasant to deal with. Does anyone have the CTR models he sells? They look awesome, IMO. Especially with the laminated wood stock. I'm still trying to figure out if this CTR-02 for $2195 is worth it over the pic below for $1695: Of course I can't use the optics if shooting limited... This one sell for $1695: Does anyone have experience with this JP globe sight? This is info from JP's website. Looks interesting... "The IPSC Limited rifle category now allows compensators but not optics. You must use “iron sights”. However, there’s nothing saying that they have to be “military” sights. Therefore, you may use the the JP quick-detach globe type front sight for a rifle that shoots like it was scoped. Anyone who has used this type of sight knows the level of precision is on par with optics, provided you can see the target with the naked eye. Interchangeable inserts offer the ability to taylor the sights to your taste or to the type of targets you have to engage in a particular stage. I prefer the fine cross hair for most IPSC standard paper targets out to 200 yards and the small aperture insert for small steel plates and long range. The rear is a rugged A-2 type adjustable sight without the handle." Thanks, Peter
  8. Thanks KBear. You're right, practically the same.. InStep 5K Jogging Stroller by InStep from Target $89.99 Ruggedgear's Double Hook $39.95:
  9. I emailed Johnny Lim and got a reply the next day! He states he's building one now and can make it either a Phantera or Tigercat. I asked him what was the difference between the two and Johnny replied, " The difference between the two design is just the compensator, the phantera is and is a lighter gun (Tamer Comp)..shoots very flat but has a little sharp kick feeling..( JJ racaza shoot this gun Phantera)..I shoot this gun also because we both like a gun that is flat and lite and has a little kick....the Tigercat (Turbo Comp) is a little heavier, lot of people like this style because it shoots flat and soft..(athena Lee shoots this gun)..Now I built this both guns in Hybrid barrel...unless otherwise specified.. " I am torn between the Limcat or the IMM SVI. I am encouraged by some forum members saying that the IMM is the "best" they've ever shot. Limcat and IMM will be hybrids... No one in my area has either gun so unlikely I'll get a chance to shoot before purchase. I was concerned about Johnny Lim's followup service because I read he could be difficult to get a hold of. But his quick response was encouraging. Pat and Leo, the IMM is really in another class? How much were your guns? How long for build time? How come Team SVI is not shooting the IMM? Or do they?
  10. Check out this skirmish: heavy duty shooting.... http://squadx.ukairsoft.net/video/squadx384kb.WMV http://squadx.ukairsoft.net/article151.html
  11. Yeh, I'm not sure if I'm ready for a hybrid. This is actually the SV Open Masterpiece for sale on speedshooters.com " These are the ones that Team SV are presently using. "
  12. I'm looking to get a top of the line open gun. I'm looking at the SV Open Masterpiece or a Limcat. Too beautiful guns, IMO. Anyone have either guns and have any opinions on them? Speedshooter.com has the SV open masterpiece for $3400 in stock Limcats $3495- has so many exotic details!!! :
  13. Pistol Pete- there are two types of gas gun- blowback and NON blowback. The blowback ones does cycle the slide. The spring ones are really not as good, IMO- but they're much cheaper. I don't think the spring guns cycle the slide. I'd get the gas blowback for more accurate IPSC practicing. From what I've read the Desert Eagle model has the most powerful recoil. But it's not 1911 style gun.
  14. nice Airsoft Western Arms SVI Infinity on Ebay -- someone can try to get it on the cheap: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=31685
  15. Jim, try Ebay. Also try these two sites. I've ordered from them with good results. They're both based in the US: http://www.airsplat.com http://www.precisionairsoft.com/index.htm And if you really want the best try Western Arms' Shibuya Custom shop version- top of the line parts... http://www.wa-gunnet.co.jp/english/cool/cool.html
  16. I agree with DumboRat. I have the Western Arms SV Pro Killer. It's gas blowback so slide recoils like a real gun- but not as strong of course. It's basically an SV Infinity. Weight is 3 lbs, pretty heavy and sturdy. It's expensive about $200 but is the most accurate and best out there. The WA SV actually can be used in my ghost holster- that's how similar it is to the real thing. http://www.airsplat.com/P_383.htm Actually my newest shooting aid is the Beamhit. It really is dry firing on steroids. It's a very nice device. Cost $365 though. But worth every penny IMO. This is true trigger control test. I'm a convert.
  17. I use this. It has different sound effects for each area hit. I found that it really helps me with trigger control. When I have perfect trigger control I can hit the small center target. And you don't have to reuse paper and you know what you're hitting with the sound effect. I have 3 setup around my place. Square Sounding Target: http://www.airsplat.com/P_306.htm Peter BTW- I read on airsoftplayers.com - put a light source in a box and place a target in the opening. The light will shine thru after each shot and let you see where each shot went.
  18. http://www.firstshotcounts.com Grant M. Hermening , who is a retired policeman has the best prices I could find: (He told me he just sold $12,000 worth of Beamhit to local police) Beamhit® 700 Pro-1 with INTERNAL laser--- $365 -- really great price because I was going to order from Beamhit for $480. Beamhit with external laser-- $240 Wakal- Grant said you could have used A Zoom snap caps which would generate enough vibration to activate the laser: I told him I had an STI Edge and he recommends that I use the A Zoom. Dick- Does the Windows computer version it crash alot? I want the computer version because of all the options but sometimes I like to Keep It Simple.... Did you download any cool targets?
  19. I've read a alot of positive things about the Beamhit. I have an STI Edge .40 caliber and Glock 19 I'll be using. I'm thinking of getting the one with the INTERNAL LT 500 laser. Is it worth the big cost over the LT 100? I think I'll get the one with the portable target. Not sure if I want to deal with the Windows computer version. Though there is alot more options, many cool targets... Does anyone have the computer version and is worth fooling with? Thanks, Peter from Magills.com: A- with external laser is $269 B- with INTERNAL laser is $449- BIG difference in price computer version with crazy targets:
  20. Anyone have this slide on their gun? " $499- Now available to pistolsmiths and hobbyists - ready to fit to your frame STI or Caspian slide with scallop cut or block front Slide radically lightened for speed Bullet cocking serrations Trademark Brazos Custom lightning holes in the front BoMar rear sight installed Lightning Rod front sight installed Top of slide flattened and serrated Inside bore of slide polished " I admit I like it for aesthetic reasons alot. The "lightning holes" in the slide are really nice looking. Can I just get holes drilled in my STI Edge's slide for similar look? Also, I read making the slide lighter as such would make the gun snappier and quicker for next target acquisition. http://www.brazoscustom.com/light_vs_heavy.htm Thanks, Peter
  21. I didn't realize this was such a touchy subject... But I placed it on this forum because I wanted point of view from practical shooters. Shooters who compete and place many rounds thru their guns a year jhgtyre: thanks for input about the sig 239 and its size. Have you handled the XD subcompact?
  22. I am looking into these three handguns for CCW. Any opinions, experiences? The new Sprinfield XD subcompact looks enticing- " shortest carry polymer pistol in the world that features the only light rail in its class ." link to cool XD movie Sig P239: Glock 26:

    Shred 3

Shred, beautiful mini- what did it cost you? And how long did it take Dawson to build it? Thanks Peter
  24. Shooter Grrl: I was thinking about getting my STI mags chromed. Do you really not recommend it? It looks that bad with use? Thanks Peter
