  1. this is an older post so if its no good please discard,,, single stack,,,i'm an aviation type,,,we do lots of anodizing,,,black isn't a common color,,,( harder to inspect) but i could check on it,,, i am by no means an expert or anything like it,,,but i do have a bs in aircraft electrical systems and i have studied electrolosis as it relates to common alloys,,,ie...high strength aluminum and steel,,, if i can be of help let me know,,,
  2. tell me about the wings too,,,i'm living the event thru you,,,wongs wings sound good,,,but i would have to have plenty of beer,,,tell us did the ghost dog fall off his stool,,,or did he leave early,,,not being able to hang!!!,,,sorry be,,,no offense,,,just wishing it happens again and hoping i'm there,,,
  3. you came from out of the states to shoot with the man,,,wow,,, did you talk about another session,,, thanks for the info,,,how many attended,,,sounds like pitifully few,,,if we do it again i WILL be there,,,( i fly for free so i can go any time anywhere!!!),,, come on posters!!! tell your stories,,, ( even the ones that be doesn't want you to tell),,, he he i would love a detailed account of the things you learned,,,please relate that to the forum,,, thanks,,,
  4. old thread i know,,, i shot an lda .45 a couple of weeks ago,,,i liked it so much i bought the company!!!,,,(well not really but i did buy a po two days later ),,,the trigger pull was the only thing i didn't like,,,it wasn't the #'s,,,i think the pull on the lda was smoother than the limited i bought,,,but i don't have both now to compare,,,it was a very long pull,,,and the reset was half way,,,i tend to wait for the reset,,,if its a long way off it slows me down,,,(i'm fixing that on my limited!!!),,,i'm sure you could adjust that somehow but that was my only gripe,,,i loved the way the gun felt,,, my para is s/a only but i wouldn't fret in buying an lda,,,they make a really cool carry one!!!,,,i would really be interested in that,,,can't remember the numbers but they are pushing it hard in all the mags,,,its a .45,,,and i want a .40,,,but i still like it alot,,,!!! probably don't help,,,or you probaby already bought the one you want,,,but i can't help sharing my ' para ' experience,,,
  5. just got my confermation notice back!!! i'm a member!!! if i keep paying to join stuff i may make it out of the newbie section,,,( just kidding!!!) i'm in,,,
  6. i know this is an old thread but i want to chime in if i can,,, i have the luxury of a range in my back yard so i understand it is different,,,i practiced what i consider now as alot during the last summer,,,between 3 to 5 k,,,i found that 200 or so was about all i wanted to shoot as i was getting bored,,,i've tried many drills,,,( i want to try many more this season as i am having my range completely redone!!!),,,i tend to want to spend time on accuracy alot,,,i come from a target shooting back ground and i can literally do it all day,,,i have a problem with speed and anxiety,,,it seems what ever i practice when i get to the match i forget it all,,,this may be solved in the zen shooting forum,,,i'm going to explore that soon,,, i enjoy shooting and i feel that i get better the more i shoot,,,but i'm plagued with the ' match time blues ',,,i would like to make my practice help my match times and i know that in a way it does,,,but i can't see it now,,, the one thing i'm sure of is that my dry fire work is the key,,,i've just recently started dedicated dry firing at home,,,and i'm really interested in how it will help,,,i suspect tons,,, all is yet to see but i know that if i shoot more than about 200 i'm not learning,,, i would like to try one of the marathons,,,that would be fun,,,have to get the loader up and running before that thou!!!
  7. ,,,she tried to dial the local chapter of 'we hate guns because we're stupid' and realized she didn't pick up the phone,,,she pick up the gun and accidentally...
  8. i wasn't around when this happened,,,could someone that went share with me what you did,,, what was the best part,,, what did you learn that improved you shooting,,, how much did it cost for us lesser types to meet with the man,,, how many people went,,, did every one get some one on one time with ghost dog,,, how many did he drink before he got tired of everyone buying him drinks,,, and most importantly did you talk about doing this again!!! thanks,,,
  9. thanks carlos and ericw,,,i'll start looking,,,i've seen the factory fold-outs,,,good idea and cheap,,,but i will find a way to verify every piece of info,,,my father reloaded as far back as i can remember,,,( very limited thou,,,only revolver magnum loads,,,and hes to damn head strong to ask questions of,,,definetly not the ipsc type!!!),,,i did learn from him that reloading is not a game,,,its a hobby but a very serious one,,,i WILL play this game safe,,, carlos,,,this isn't a reloading die thread but i have to ask,,,i was told by a buddy that redding dies resize the case far enough to take the 'glock buldge ' out,,,so i bought a set as i will be reloading police range brass,,,40s&w,,,mostly shot from glocks,,,did i buy the wrong dies,,,i just found out about egw,,,i'm sending my para in for george to work on it when my number comes up,,,should i get the egw resizing die or will the reddings do the job,,,i don't care about the extra cost,,,i don't want a BOOM!!! thanks
  10. i hope this the place to post this,,,if not let me know,,, i have a question for the newbies,,, what class/gun are you shooting,,,how much do you dry fire practice,,,how hooked are you,,,where are we all located,,, i got involved in this thru a friend,,,shot three matches this summer/fall,,,shot a 1911 copy called a randall my father gave me ( shouldn't have,,,its a limited production model,,,oops!!!),,,shot the next two with a g-19,,,i really sucked,,,but i had a great time,,,spent most of the summer working on the basics,,,( i have a range in my back yard!!!),,,shot an lda .45 a couple of weeks ago and found that i shoot a double stack 1911 frame way better than the glock,,,two days later i bought a p16-40 limited,,,i've shot approx. 150 rds so far ( its really cold in indiana now!!!),,,i love it,,,i'm really looking forward to shooting this summer,,,for the first time i come home and WANT to do my dry fire practice!!! just wanted to know what the other newbies out there were doing,,,
  11. thanks i'll check the site out,,, ok,,,you got me and i like it,,,i'm usually the one quicker in the mornings,,,( i work midnights so i'm actually unwinding while most are just starting),,,but i have obviously met another early morning zinger specialist,,, thanks again and i'll be ready to duck next time!!!
  12. i'm new to reloading,,,i see that there are a lot of reloading manuals out there,,,dillon pushs the lyman one pretty hard,,,is that one the best,,,i'm planning on reloading pistol calibers,,,40 s&w, 9mm,,,mostly for ipsc but i would like a manual that is fairly broad in the loads,,,i've looked through some and helped a buddy use some so i know the general layouts,,,i just want to buy one not several,,,if that is possible,,, thanks,,,
  13. i have a couple of para questions,,, does it hurt a para to dry fire,,,do i need to get snap caps,,,i have a g-19 that i got used to dry firing a lot,,,so i need to know,,, i need a good break down book or chart for the 1911,,,specifically the p16-40 limited,,,there are a great many of them on the market,,,does anyone have an opinion on which would be the best,,,i'm fairly techically minded and i would like to explore doing some work on my gun myself,,,ie...springs etc,,,i need a good book that i can use as good reference,,, thanks,,,
  14. just a note as it seems i inadvertantly started this string,,,being even poorer than the ' poor black child ' above, i bought the 16-40 limited because i couldn't believe how much better i shot the double stack 1911 frame compared to my g-19,,,( that i had been working with all summer!!!),,,i just recently started following this forum and i really like it,,,i wish i had the cash to play with the big dogs and the sv, sti's,,,like twix i would love to play that game,,,but i'm happy with the para for now,,,i've learned alot about some things i want to do to it here and i've got lots more to learn,,,i may regret not waiting to get an sv, sti later,,,but right now i'm just jazzed about getting to shoot the para for next years matches,,, oh this is the glock forum,,,i considered trading my g-19 in on the para,,,couldn't do it!!!,,,i may shoot the para better but i love the 19!!!
