  1. Last time I used 3N37 I was running 7.9gr at 1.165 with 124gr JHP and small rifle primers. Was getting 170pf with full size gun no barrel holes. It will heat your gun up but if you have no other choice it will work.

  2. I have both a 550 and a 650. Ran the 550 about 20+ years and decided to get a 650 to run my high volume stuff on. The 550 is a great unit and easy to learn on. The 650 is a little more complicated but will put out a lot more ammo than the 550 in the same amount of time. Caliber conversions cost a little more with the 650 than the 550. Conversion time really isn't that much more with the 650 over the 550 once you have done it a few times.

If you have no need to make thousands of rounds per month, don't want a bullet feeder or powder check than the 550 would be the press to go with. If you think you will want to increase your output or add accessories go with the 650. You could also purchase the 650 without the case feeder and be basically like a 550 with auto indexing plus an extra station for later expansion.

If I had to live with a 550 I could do it no problem but my 650 with the bullet feeder is fantastic for me. You will have to decide what's best for you. Good luck!

  3. Your list looks complete. I've never owned or operated a 1050 so no words of wisdom for you there but I have loaded a lot on the 650 and 550. I agree with others, get the parts kit. Even though everything is covered under the warrantee, waiting for a replacement part to arrive is frustrating even though it is free.

I have broken two indexing rings, one was my fault for forcing it when I had a jam and the second one was just broken when I went to use the machine. Both times it was covered no questions asked. I don't believer I ever broke anything on my 550 but it doesn't get the use my 650 gets now.

As far as having both a small and large complete primer setup never felt the need for that because there really is only one more step involved when changing them out and the is the one screw on the bottom holding the primer disk, change disks and drop in the primer magazine and its converted. I do agree having a spare powder measure assembly is handy, saves you some time of getting your powder charge dialed back in however it's not necessary.

  4. My Edge will run reliably with factory length rounds. I only load long so I have more variety in rounds. My 180gr JHP Montana Gold with VV-N320 powder shoots very consistent and soft loaded out to 1.200. It's just a matter of what works best for you and your gun.

  5. Thanks for the info guys , got everything all set . I tried forwards and backwards and I went with forwards for now .

What are you shooting? I wear mine in the front for single stack and production. For open and limited I wear it in the rear since I have mag pouches in the front.
