When compared to the 650, yes.

    This.

The 550 system is workable and if you have never owned a 650 you would probably be satisfied. I have loaded thousands of rounds on my 550 and when I got the 650 I couldn’t believe how maintenance free the primer system was. Still have and use the 550 but my 650 is the workhorse.

  2. I have a 550 and 650. The 650 has all the extras bullet feeder, case feeder, ...

I prefer the primer feeder on the 650 over the 550. Maybe the 750 has improved over the 550 but I don’t see anything about the 750 I have to have.

If I were buying new today I’m not sure I would buy the 750 over the 650 unless they were the same price and even then I would like to see more reviews on them after people had loaded a few hundred thousand on them.

There’s a little hand filing on the mag base lip required to retain the Springer +5 pads securely. Instructions on the Springer website.

    True

Have used in several matches without issues. There were instructions provided with the bases when I purchased them.

  4. I got that notice too but they didn’t have CCI SPP in stock.

I was going to do a price comparison between them and Powder Valley because it’s usually cheaper at PV even with Brownells discount but they didn’t have what I needed so didn’t price check. Plus I had a $10 discount from PV for signing up for their newsletter I never used.

But you can’t beat 1¢ hazmat!

Thanks for the heads up on the CCI primer rebate. Saved more money!

  5. Since I already had three 17 round mags that came with the gun I just ordered 3 Springer bases for them. Had some Grams 9mm spring kits from my open gun I put in them and easily get 23+1 reloadable. So far they have been reliable.

What are the bases that come with the Legion?

They are Henning with the Legion insignia on the bottom.

I use just standard plastic Sig pads on mine since I don’t run the magwell. I’m not an IDPA member but I did read in their rules you can’t use weighted mags. Not sure if that means weighted base pads or not.

Probably 17 for factory if they are hot. I run 14 with my ~130pf 124gr reloads.

I had to look at my paperwork for the Legion. It came with 14 and 12 not 17 and 14. I know I was using the lighter spring so it is 12 not 14 as I stated above. It works fine with both but I have faster splits with the lighter (12lb) spring.

  8. I called when I had issues with the battery door latch.  They created an account and put a rush order in so when they received it they would get it repaired faster. It was in their shop less than a week.  When I got it back the latch was replaced an they even replaced the circuit board even though I wasn’t having any issues with it. It was only 30 days old and had what looked to me to be the newer board as seen in this post.

Anyway if I were to do it again I would call first and let them setup everything on their end first if I was in a hurry.

  9. I had to send one back because the latch that holds the battery cover closed came off while shooting. At first I thought my X5 Legion through a piece of brass to my head until I tried to look through the lens again and noticed the battery door was blocking my view.

Called CS to see if they would just send me the latch and spring but of course they wouldn’t. They did create a rush order on my account so that it would get repaired ASAP. They received it on Friday and it was repaired an back in the mail by Thursday.

I also mentioned on Tuesday when I called that I needed it repaired ASAP because I had matches that weekend which is why I was trying to purchase the parts to repair it myself. I also mentioned I had planned to purchase a second unit for a backup and the CS rep said he would make me a great deal on a new unit and have it shipped second day air for free so I would have it before the weekend if I was interested.

Needless to say this was a no brainer because the price they quoted me was considerably cheaper than the one I purchased online and that was the cheapest I could find.

Second unit is running great and between the two I have over 3000 rounds on them, most of which is on the second unit. Hopefully I won’t experience the issues the others have had with them.
