Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I shoot one handed and sideways-gangsta style-and I'm snake fast but can't hit a barn door to save my life; my gun jams alot, too. So I say accuracy.
  2. Anybody out there wear ballet shoes? Texas, maybe?
  3. I learned to draw Iso about 20 years ago. I learned it in stages (steps), but was slow, because I was mentally "stopping" at each stage, i.e. consciously thinking about where the weak hand went before the grip, punching out, proper sight picture, good trigger break, etc. I didn't get fast until the only thing on my mind was to engage the target when the buzzer went off. Once the memory was ingrained in the muscles, I was many times faster just "zoning" the draw. There was never any video of my draw (that I'm aware of), so as far as I know I may have looked "correct" or just plain goofy doing it, but my rounds were getting on target fast; that was the goal. No points off for incorrect weak hand placement!
  4. That was outstanding! Fast and accurate. If you stick with it and compete nationally, you'll stand out soon.
  5. I think that's an outstanding idea; I'm gonna work that out myself. I like to train (outdoor range/not in a match) to draw, engage and reload with my weak hand from my carry (strong side AWB) holster. Felt pretty spazzy at first, but hey- might need the muscle memory one night.
  6. I guessed your age @32, and you need 2300 calories a day to maintain that weight with no exercise. Cutting back to 1870 will cause you to lose up to four pounds of fat per month. You'll lose more weight than that initially, but no more than 2 pounds of fat per week. That's the max possible, no matter your regimen. Losing weight is really no more complicated than burning more calories than you ingest. About 3500 calories burned = 1 pound of fat burned. Or, do what my darling bride did and buy a Wii board; in conjunction with a diet in which she eats nothing "white", she lost 42 pounds in 3.5 months. Chuck R.
  7. I shot 37,000 rounds in 6 weeks about 20 years ago at a shooting school and got it bad. Had to lay off that tendon as much as I could for nearly a year before it went away. For some reason, rubbing 3 or 4 subsequent layers of Tiger Balm helped; I think it just took my mind off the pain. Dumbbell curls seemed to help, as well. The ticket, I think, was not duplicating the trigger pull action with other activities. Rode a desk until it finally got better.
  8. You can get a 3" 12 ga. Rem 870 Express with a 7-rd mag for about $300. Put 6-shot in it, and you woudn't have to worry about your friend being a no-shooter or lawsuits from penetration. That would give him time to learn how to work a handgun while he saves up some money. That's what I did with my wife before she was Mrs. Chuckie.
