  1. Yeah, I'm sure I just did it out of order. I don't remember what order I installed the pins, but I didn't know to make sure the top one went in last, so I'm sure it was user error! I was able to straighten it with some pliers and install it correctly, it snaps back properly now. I looked around at Brownell's and elsewhere online and couldn't find just the slide stop spring, only the slide stop lever with a spring. Can you buy a spring by itself? Thanks for the help guys, Heath
  2. I didn't put on an extended slide release, just the extended mag release. First time it locked back shooting, though, that's what I thought I'd done. Then when it wouldn't rack closed on an intial load, I knew it was something else because my thumb was no where near the slide lock release.
  3. OK. I think you guys are right. When I field stripped it, the slide lock didn't seem crisp. It was mushy, went down when pulled up, but mushy. Detail stripped it and it looks like the spring on the slide lock is bent out of whack. I think I remember it being flat before and now there's a 90 degree bend in it. I'm gonna try to post some pics to confirm that I have indeed fubar'd my spring and need another. Look them over and let me know if I'm wrong and this spring is normal. Thanks for the help, Heath
  4. OK. Have a brand new RTF G17. I installed an extended mag release and a 3.5# connector and had a gunsmith put on a set of warren tactical sights. Took it for its first shoot yesterday and on the second stage of fire it slide locked open with rounds still in the mag. I did an emergency reload out of habit and when I racked the slide it stayed open. I looked in the chamber and nothing was jammed. Racked it again, still stayed locked open. Pushed the slide release and it shut normally and fired fine for the rest of the stage. Stage 3, load and make ready, inserted the mag and tried racking it again, nothing, slide stays locked back. I push the slide release and it closes normally, functions properly throughout the stage. Stage 4 same thing, won't rack shut, but hit the release and it closed and worked fine. Stage 5, still won't rack closed on load and make ready. I close it with the release and it slide locked open again with rounds in the mag. I pushed the slide release and it closed normally and I finished the stage. Any ideas what's going on?
  5. Great match last night, Gary! Thanks for all the work you did to make it happen. Had a great time at my first match ever. Gotta figure out what's goin' on with my new Glock, but had a great time overall. Now to get better! Heath
  6. That was great, for the first shot, then I needed a new monitor!
  7. Alright, first thing that came to mind on the topic in general was that these guys are really majoring in the minors. Sweatin' the small stuff and losing the forest for the trees.
  8. I can't tell from the pics I find online. Does this have a standard glock dovetail rear sight that could be replace with any other glock rear sight? Just wondering if I could outfit it to match my 17's sights for consistent sight picture?
  9. DOH! Oh well, better late than never, I guess. Its OK to shoot if you're not yet classified, isn't it? Yes it is. And since this is a prize match and not a trophy match you still have a chance of winning something. Cool. What's the entry fee? Couldn't find it on the webpage. Also, what kind of round count could one expect? Just curious how much ammo I'll need to search the world over to acquire!
  10. Have you talked to the RO? The club I shoot at has rules posted against quick fire and holstered shooting. But I told the RO what I was practicing for and asked if it'd be ok if I shot from my holster and did some fast shooting drills and he said, "no problem. Just go down to the lane on the end and you'll be fine. Thanks for asking, though." Worth asking. Worst they can do is say no and you're no worse off than before you asked.
  11. DOH! Oh well, better late than never, I guess. Its OK to shoot if you're not yet classified, isn't it?
  12. Very cool! Are you having any IDPA classifiers between now and then? I live in BG and am looking to get involved.
