  1. I use to tumble using 50/50 corncob and walnut. I recently switched to washing. I bought a cement mixer, add 5 gallons of brass, 5 gallons of water, 1 cup of cascade dishwasher detergent and 1.5 hours later, rinse, dry and I'm done. The end result is just as good as tumbling if not better. The brass isn't as shinny as tumbling but darn close. I will say the brass inside the case is cleaner. Don't have to worry about media being left in the brass, etc. I will also say I WILL NOT go back to tumbling. The time savings is incredible. Cleaned 5 gallons of 223 brass, 5 gallons of 9mm and 5 gallons of 40 S&W in one day and had time to do other things. That's good for half a season if not more.
  2. Have a problem on STI 2011 9mm sear spring. The first leg (to sear) is popping off. I'll put the spring in, try a few trigger pulls and it works. Put it together, try about 5 more dry fires and the hammer starts following. Take it apart and see where the first let is off the sear. There is some wiggle room and didn't know if there was a trick or better sear spring that would help this. Thoughts?
  3. That helps! approx fps with Autocomp at 4.5gr? what about titegroup? See 3.6 - 147gr - 929fps but only at 27,500psi. Didn't know if 3.7 or 3.8 would just send the psi to high to fast. Power Pistol - 5gr at 975 at 1.1300" - looks like it might work too. As you all know...finding the powder is the hardest thing. PS - STI 2011 loading at 1.1400" so yeah, little long. Thanks again for the help.
  4. Looking for a recipe to load some 147gr MG and Zero JHP to around 145 to 150 pf. Need some extra KO rounds for some 3G matches for heavy steel poppers at 35 yds. (Note: before someone gives a smarta$$ comment, shot 124gr at 137pf and hit the center round of popper as well as head and wouldn't fall...had to double tap center round area fast to get it to go down...everyone on squad had same issue). I see Hodgdon Longshot with 4.7g is 1004fps which is around 147pf which is good. Any other good recipes? (i.e. VV N340 or N350, or Autocomp, or ???) Thanks in advance.
  5. Can we reserve a golf car in advance or is it first come-first serve...and will there be enough for all?
  6. Thanks to JC I have the Nook running practiscore which is exactly what I see/use at the USPSA matches. Question: at the 3Gun matches, the Nooks are also used, but the scoring is 'TimePlus'. I was able to 'view results' on the Nook from the Practiscore website of a previous 3Gun match. For curiosity sakes, I went in to edit a shooter and see the scoring is set-up different (Time Plus Scoring). How can I get this type of scoring on my Nook? Thanks!
  7. Well, well, well. User error. Thank you!!!
  8. Got a Nook. Went to Root'n-score-it and downloaded everything to MicroSD card. Go the new Nook Version v1.2.1 too. Put the SD card, got the "Root'n-Score-it" where it has wait while we boot about 40 seconds. Then it goes to new page "Getting Started" - Root'n Score-It prepares a NOOK for PractiScore. Process will take 2 minutes...press "Next" to continue. I pressed Next...nothing happened, so I just let it wait. It's as if it is locked up. I've did the soft boot (power for 20 secs), but still keeps doing the same thing. What is the deal?
  9. Here's my problem. I have to use something like a full length sizing die or neck die with an expander (& deprimmer). Some of the brass I picked up at matches (some not mine) and the neck/hole is bent. I have to expand in order for the trimmer to work properly. So, in station 1 use something like a neck sizer die (collet die), then station 2 swage, then station 5 trim, then on station 6 I have to use an expander again...so that the bullet will seat. Note: this is with 223 ammo.
  10. Another question...using 1050 to process .223 brass. I'm thinking the brass needs to be expanded before the trimmer (make round again), but it also needs to be expanded again after the trimmer (for seating bullets). So what's the best thing to do? I was initially thinking (1) size, (2) swage, (5) trim. But set it up (1) Lee Universal Decapper (doesn't expand), (2) Swage, (5) Trim, (7) size/expand (note: decap pin is about 1/16" from touching shell plate). But...the decapper doesn't expand good enough for trimming. Thoughts??? Buy another sizing die for (1)??? Or?
  11. Good info. Thanks again. I think I will stick to 1050 processing everything, then throw it on the 650 to load.
  12. Which Nook do I need to get for Practiscore? I've used some that are hard to see in sunlight. Note: will only be used for scoring...some of us will use it just to see how we are doing before the scores come out each day.
  13. Thanks guys. I was pretty sure I knew the answer but wanted to check. Problem is that I may grab some brass on the ground that isn't mine. Don't wanna risk skipping the trimming. Thanks again!!!
  14. I can't figure out a way to do it, but thought I would ask. Can you process and load .223 with a 1050 (as in trimming and loading in one complete step)? That is versus, processing it on the 1050, then loading it on the 650. Thanks.
  15. Nice one... BTW, the classified section is where you can trade. Just put the acronym WTT. Thought about it...just didn't want the hassle.
  16. Thanks guys. Mike - that's what I wanted to know...basically the dynamics and properties of the powder change thus affect the velocity/burn rate. Wish someone had some TAC to trade, but that stuff is like finding a needle in a haystack. Yes, bad idea to blend it...but nice if it would work. When I tried to use it and it spilled out all over the press when trying to load...I thought...what if. I ended up just poured it back into the jug and stored it away...been using TAC ever since Thanks again.
  17. OK. I know this is going to sound crazy, but have a question. I have about 8 lbs of Varget and it doesn't meter well at all in my Dillon 650 so I don't use it. So I had this crazy thought...granted it will probably change the dynamics of the powder...but what if it would work. So, get a blender (like a food blender you use in your kitchen). Pour 4 lbs of Varget in it. Get a 200 ft drop cord..unplug it from the wall...check 10 times to make sure. push the button on the blender on, go 200 ft and plug it in. Blend the powder for 30 seconds. unplug it...wait for 20 minutes and check it out. If it doesn't blow up...would it work? Would it change the dynamics of the powder? Granted I'm curious if it would work...but not sure I would do it. Thoughts?
  18. I guess it just likes some shells and doesn't other shells. Mine will not cycle Rio, Federal, and the other less than 2 3/4 dram shells. But it WILL cycle Remington Gun Club 2 3/4 dram, Winchester AA 1145fps and 1300fps shells with ZERO problems. I ran all Remington Gun Club shells at this past weekends 3gun and didn't have any issues. Benelli support said it will not cycle anything 2 3/4 dram and under. Only 3 and up. With that said...guess I'll be using the ones that work and every once in a while try the Federal and Rio shells to see if they work...since I have like 2000 of the those collecting dust.
  19. I have a Vinci. Used it at a couple matches and all was good. Now for some reason the spent shells won't eject...as if not enough recoil to get them to fully function. Called Benelli and they were not helpful...saying I didn't fully break it in...150+ rounds of 3" magnum shells (granted I did 100 3" magnum and all worked good). Question. They don't have a low recoil spring, so I'm thinking of getting another spring and cutting a coil off. What do you think? If so, then which spring? (036A - Inertia Spring) or (100X - Bolt return spring - betting this one, but didn't want to assume if someone else knows)? Thanks.
  20. mleeber - call or email Charles. his number/email is on the tarheel 3gun website. looks to be the only thing to do...
  21. Any word on the online link that gives the schedule, squads, etc? No email yet...just didn't know if I was looked over...
  22. This is good info. I ordered an STI for 'x' company which they build on December 15. They said I would have it March 15th (so that's 13 weeks). I called a week ago and they said they were 6 weeks behind. So looking at dates...that's about 20 weeks if they don't postpone again. Note: I ordered the gun before the high demand kicked in overdrive.
