  1. Here's my first ever 360° match video. This was taken using the Ricoh Theta S camera. You can watch this using a compatible browser like Chrome or through the YouTube app on your phone. You can pan around the screen or move your phone around you to watch the video from any perspective you like. Enjoy!
  2. Thanks Scott! I know a lot of folks in this forum would probably go "Duh!" but I'd thought I'd share this with everyone anyway, you never know, there might be naive open shooters out there like me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I've resisted getting a slide racker on my USPSA Open Division pistol for a few years now. Didn't really see the need for it, until I shot a few major matches. There's always one or two stages that required you to load the gun while on the clock and I've always struggled with it. Racking my slide by pinching it is not the most efficient way to do it and always makes me nervous doing it. So during the winter downtime I consulted with John from JPL Precision, my gunsmith, and he figured out a way to install it on my gun. And O.M.G. what a different the racker makes. Now I feel a lot more confident while loading on the clock. Getting the racker installed also made me think about the other mods I used to have on my gun and went about streamlining everything. This made everything lighter, improved the balance of the gun and made gun handling easier. I like it and you should to (if you don't have one yet) Loke had no racker Loke got a racker Loke shoots better Be like Loke *lol*
  4. Episode 263 - Getting 100% on the USPSA Range Officer Exam Larry is a big USPSA rules nut. He's a Chief Range Officer (CRO) and has been shooting USPSA for a long time. His passion and expertise is in the rules and enforcing them. So when it was time to take the yearly range officer refresher exam, Larry decided to turn on his camera and walk us through his experience. 5. Episode 262 - MEC 300E Sporter Trap Machine Review Steve and Dave are back with a review of the MEC 300E Sporter trap machine. Their club has never used a MEC machine and in a previous episode, they asked if MEC were to watch the episode, to give them an opportunity to review it. Lo-and-behold, someone from MEC did contact them and sent them a unit. Here's the review and a side by side comparison with a Promatic trap machine. 6. My first match of 2016 and it was a fun one. The stages were elaborate and fun to shoot, all except that blasted classifier. It's almost impossible to consciously shoot 100% in it. You have to be hosing like crazy and hope it hits. My run only yielded me a 63%, and 77% if I didn't get that one mike. Apart from that, I'm lacking some dot discipline especially while moving. Oh and a note to self, don't snag fault line "ropes" with your holster anymore.
  7. Episode 261 - Larry's "Shorty Forty" USPSA Open Pistol Everyone should know by now that Larry's favorite caliber is 40S&W. It's all he shoots in USPSA and other pistol sports. He's shot USPSA in Limited, Production, Carry Optics and now Open. Larry has always wanted to build an Open Pistol and based his new build on his Carry Optics gun that he made a while back. He calls this gun, the "Shorty Forty". Blog - http://www.powerfactorshow.com/2015/12/28/episode-261-larrys-shorty-forty-uspsa-open-pistol/ YouTube - Subscribe to the show on iTunes here
  8. Episode 260 - Happy Five Years! Wow it's incredible. We made it to five years. That's 260 weekly episodes since we started the PowerFactor Show. Rick, Steve and Larry celebrate five years on camera talking about our ups, our downs and what the future holds for the show. We can't thank our fans, viewers, supporters and sponsors enough for allowing us to do this. Let us know what you'd like us to cover on the show and send us your match videos so we can critique them on camera. 9. SO FRIGGING WET & COLD! I told myself not to shoot a match when it's cold and pouring after my disastrous Marysville USPSA match a few months ago, but how can I not shoot this? it's a charity match for kids. Some really crappy stages as my dot was all over the place. Need to make my target smaller, instead of a full target, just focus on the A zone. A couple of good ones but not good enough. Good to hear that this match raised $2,000 in cash for the charity. Awesome! Glad to be part of it.
  10. Yes, but when you shot your Single Stack did you enter in the Limited division for the greater competition? Or did you enter your SS in SS because of the inherent differences between the guns? I shot single stack because it was nostalgic and cool to shoot a 1911 in 45ACP and carry 8 mags on my belt
  11. I think you should be shooting in one of those divisions to have any say in whether they should be combined or not. *ahem open shooter* hey, I shot Single Stack and production a few times and I am classified in Revolver. so there
  12. I think they should just combine SS, L10 and Production into one division and call it PRODUCTION. damn, saying the word "production" so many times just makes it sound funny now. *lol*
  13. Episode 259 - Should We Get Rid of Limited 10? With the change in the USPSA organization and the appointment of a new President, there has been a lot of chatter around how the sport is going to evolve when it comes to the divisions. There are many members who think that some divisions should be dropped because of lack of relevancy or participation, most notably Limited 10. Steve, Larry and Rick are together this week to talk about Limited 10 and whether it should be dropped from USPSA... or not. 14. Episode 258 - Action Shooting International (New Beginner's Shooting Sport) Rick takes the opportunity to sit down with Robin Taylor and Sandy from Action Shooting International (ASI) to discuss what the sport is about and why it was created. ASI is a beginner's action shooting sport catered towards introducing new gun owners, concealed carry users or those interested in shooting to a more dynamic and fun activity. 15. Episode 257 - Another Carry Optics Update Larry is back with another update about his adventure in the Carry Optics Division for USPSA. Here he talks about the latest modifications he's done to his gun and shows off some recent match videos. 16. The Movember Charity Match run by the DownZero crew is a yearly match to promote the awareness of Prostate Cancer. They combine the USPSA stage design principles but with IDPA scoring. It's a fun match for a good cause. If you're male above the age of 40, go get a yearly exam and start tracking your PSA levels. Early detection is the key to survival. As for my match performance, it sucked. Well not quite, the stages were fun, I had some decent runs but I made a stupid decision to test some new primers and bombed stage 6. Since it's time+ scoring, that cost me the entire match. So, learn from me, don't ever test anything at a match, big or small.
  17. I can get 29+1 in my 170 MBX mags at the start. Can fit 30 into the magazine itself but i can never seat it into the gun. So 30 reloadable is BS, 29 reloadable is possible but not reliable. 28 works super reliable, never had a jam since I started using it as my primary mag. I would definitely recommend them.
  18. Episode 256 - Larry's Pet Peeve - USPSA Scoring & Overlays Larry is starting a series of episodes to discuss his pet peeves with competition shooting. This week is about USPSA Scoring and how to use an overlay properly. 19. Episode 255 - To Reload, or Not To Reload Steve tackles the much discussed and debated question about whether you should reload/handload your own ammo or buy retail. This discussion is skewed towards shotshell reloading for clay sports. 20. I was mentally more sound for this match, no crappy no-shoots or mikes and edged out a decent performance. Too many extra shots though, it looks like I definitely need more shooting-on-the-move practice. The classifier was a first for me. Never seen that shot ever, even on youtube.
  21. Episode 254 - Prize Table Stuff Most of us has experienced this, we've paid good money to go shoot a big match, be it IDPA or a USPSA Level 2+ match and although had lots of fun, didn't place well in the match. We look forward to the prize table. In IDPA, the prizes are given randomly whereas in USPSA, the prizes are given depending on your final placement. We've all gotten lots of stuff, from bags, to muzzle brakes to certificate for bullets. Rick got to walk the prize table at the recent Washington State IDPA Championships and got a few things he'd like to share with us. A BCM Gunfighter charging handle, UnderTech Undercover holster shirt and a Calbico Channel Cleaning tool. 22. Episode 253 - Is it a Shooting Position or Not? (IDPA Stage Discussion) Rick is back after a hiatus to dive into an interesting stage at the recent Washington State IDPA Championships. It was a slightly controversial stage with lots of shooting options. There was also discussion around what the best way the stage should be shot. Watch as Rick walks us through them and do let us know what you think. 23. Halloween is one of the best times of the year, a time where we all get to put on costumes and pretend to be someone/thing else. This year's Halloween Mini-Monster match was organized by the Down Zero crew and it was really fun! I shot the entire match as Darth Vader. It was really hard to shoot while wearing the mask though but I had to do it. Thanks to all of you who came in costumes!
