  1. HI there,

I want to change the comb on my versa max. The owners manual says to follow the directions that came with the additional comb, but no such paperwork came with the comb. I don't want to break anything. Can anyone tell me how to swap the combs out?

    Thanks,

    Ted

  2. Last Year:

I paid their bill. Check cleared, they said it did not. I fought like heck with their bookkeepers to prove that the check cleared.

    This year:

I paid their bill (once) They swear I paid them twice. They fought like heck to prove I paid twice, even though I can account for all four our checks. They are stubborn and sending me a refund anyway.

Three months from now they will get their head out of their rear and I will get dunned by them demanding the payment back.

They did not appreciate my suggestions on how to improve their general ledger.

  3. I picked up an 12 guage express two months ago on the cheap. The fit and finish of them are getting worse. If you look at my 1996 or so 870 express and one that was cranked out last year, the finish and fit is even worse. It is horribly rough to pump and everything has so much machining chatter on it. Pumping it feels like you are pulling a cinderblock through a stone lot. It is somewhat annoying to shoot.

My real 870 wingmaster trap gun is a beauty though. It is quite a few years old but I do not know exactly.

  4. You did not drop any points for an entire match so your points down total is -0. Some people add to this the requirements that there be no procedurals or non threats either.

  5. I came across a 26" varmint upper for an AR15. Would that be any good for 3 gun or would it be far too unwieldy?

I was going to try using it for at least a range rifle. The closest rifle range to me that has more than 100 yards is 40 minutes away in new jersey but my AR is far from Jersey Legal. The 26" upper would be legal provided I changed the buttstock on my lower.

    Thanks,

    Ted

  6. Spam sucks. No arguing with that.

But I have to send this file to a guy who has his email address set up with a sophisticated web based spam filter. It is so sophisticated, I cannot get the darn thing to work.

In theory I can go on this web page and click through some stuff so the filter knows I am a real person. In reality, it will not load right and I cannot get through all the hoops.

I guess when this fella starts needing the file he will come looking. But when he does, I won't be able to respond to his cry for help- as I won't be able to get through his spam filter again.

I suppose what is going to happen is he is going to think I 'dissed him.

  7. I have to admit to being very shield curious. I talked a friend into buying one, will be shooting it next week. Shame on glock for sitting on the single stack polymer concept for years and not making a 9 or .40. S&W deserves whatever CCW margin they earn with this gun.

  8. I used to have a residential contracting business. Now with the exception of a few customers, I only do commercial work.

When I went on an estimate, I was auditioning customers as they were auditioning me. Sometimes, if I thought they looked like problems, acted too weirdly, thought they knew more than me, or I had concerns about their ability to pay, I'd drop the estimate like a vegan with a cheesesteak.

I prefer commercial work. I hate dealing with architects but my checks clear.

Not all contractors are bums. You usually don't stay in business for long if you are.

There are differences between the low end guys and the expensive contractors. Sometimes you get what you pay for, and often the lowest bid has hidden costs.

    Good luck,

    Ted

  9. I would suggest contacting Comp Tac. Their customer service is pretty good.

I have several Glock Holsters from them. They fit all my glocks, except for this one G19. The trigger guard is thicker and it will not go into my CompTac setable cant holster. It will fit my Comp tac paddle though. I guess it us a variation in the frame.

  10. Hey All,

I am just a casual 3GN shooter right now. I committed to shooting a few matches in the coming months. A few years ago I picked up a Millet DMS scope used from a friend. I mounted it and sighted it in- then shot some local 3gun with it. Long story short, I really do not like this scope. For slow shooting, I can get the eye relief right and get nice shots off. For anything on the cuff, I cannot seem to get the eye relief right and am always looking into a blob instead of an image on the thing. I tried moving it around, but I still have trouble with it. I tried other shooter's 1-4X scope mounted gun, and did not have this problem. I don't always blame my gear for trouble but in this case, Epic Fail on the scope purchase. At least it was only a C note.

I do not have a dime to spend on a scope right now. I pooled some friends and have come up with the following scopes. They are decent models, not the cheaper stuff.

Handgun scope 1-4X. Could kick it Jeff Cooper Scout style-and mount it on the rail that is atop my free-float fore end, though I have no clue how well that would work.

    Rifle scope 2.5-8X

    Rifle Scope 3-9X

    Fixed 9x

I could also rock out the irons, I have a set of A2 sights I can bolt on the rail. I do have to admit though, that on the smaller targets I simply do not see them as well as I once did.

I probably can borrow a set of offset iron sights to use with the above scopes for the shorter stuff too.

Any thoughts on what I should do?

    Thank you,

    Ted

  11. There are cyclists who firmly believe it is safer not to have reflectors, lights, bright clothing, etc. They feel the lights make people hit them because you tend to s,teer towards what you are looking at.

I do not agree with the ninja cycling theory but it has it's fans.

The only cyclists who drive me nuts are the bike messengers. They have a major tude and the "in" bike for them to use is a fixed gear with no brakes. I've seen more than one get doored cause they cannot stop fast. Silly hipsters, brakes are for bikes.

  12. Jar,

I never said IWB was illegal. But I cannot remember the last time I saw an IWB at a USPSA match (and I run a monthly USPSA match) so I considered it rather immaterial for the discussion at hand.

With regards to people wanting to shoot IDPA but have illegal gear. I had some hipster come to my IDPA match this month to proudly tell me his gear was illegal for IDPA so he would not be shooting tonight. I asked him what it was, and it was a full-size ported 9mm handgun. My thought at the time was why you want to port a full size carry 9mm? I'm trying to decide why he told me that because he honestly believed he had the best carry gear or he wanted me to see how comfortable he was on his cross.

My carry holster and mag pouch is not IDPA legal either, but I just switch them out for when i shoot. Everyone has a different plan on that one though, but I am not very rigid on such things.
