I still haven’t met anyone who has paid 1400 for a 929. Or anywhere close to that for a Ruger.
Now I could almost understand not knowing better and someone making an impulse buy at a shop for that, but not online.
Club member. Plus the gun was all tricked out by Mark Hartshorn, and i threw in hoster and 10 moonclips

Wife reminded me i have a second 9mm toolhead that her dad gave me a few months ago. She “suggested” I try working up a load before getting rid of it. She seems to think I will have sellers remorse.

First, I agree with the guys that the bore is oversize for a 9mm and is a .357.
I do note something though. Your bullet holes are concentric and I would have expected some yaw or pitch to show up on the target via oblong holes given an oversize bore.
So, before you ditch the blaster, let me suggest two things.
First, check the security of the sights. If you are using a dot sight, remove it and put the irons on. Dot sights, even the better ones, can fail and are not easy to troubleshoot.
Second, try some .358 coated bullets and if the blaster shoots to your standards, then make your decisions.
I have shot .358 coated bullets out of my PCC which really is 9mm, and never really had any issues with loading or function. I did notice a sharper noise and a bit sharper recoil so will stick with .355 bullets for the PCC.
GG
Just my opinion here.

Fair. Im using irons but Ill check the screws on the sights.

I will give you $750 and I will even pay shipping. With a revolver that shoots so terrible I will help you out and relieve you of your burden and make sure no one else gets this terrible revolver. I hope you let the buyer know before hand how this revolver does not shoot well and only patterns like a shotgun. I feel that you were misled when you purchased the revolver thinking that the barrel was .355, all cylinders throats reamed to same size, forcing cone reamed and cut and crown cut perfectly.
But before you sell to me I would try some of the suggestions put forward here such as jacketed .355 bullets, .358 bullets or making sure cap is not interfering with the exit of the bullet. If not my offer stands. Just a revolver guy trying to help out.
✌
Ha. Already got an offer for $1,400
i am mostly just annoyed it wont shoot factory ammo as i wanted to shoot it at a few matches on the few days off I have until spring. My work/travel schedule will not find me behind a reloading press until march. Had i bought a 627, i could be shooting my old IDPA ammo (or even factory white box) now.
-
Thats how it grouped at 20yds with my 9mm minor load (coated bullet)
i am capable of much better groups than that
factory Federal 115 gr jacketed grouped about the same.
Since all my brass has been run through a Glock, I wanted to start with fresh brass. I had purchased 2000 rounds of Federal 115 grain, idea being i shoot them over the winter then reload the brass for the spring. But that is pretty darn sad, and a waste of ammo to continue firing perfectly good factory ammo through that gun.

Actually your barrel is .357 so shooting .355 bullets will never get the accuracy you are wanting. The .358 bullets are proven to work. Me I don’t have a 929 but I do have a custom 627 with a custom .356 barrel and I strictly shoot .358’s it will group under 2” at 50 yds. Also ammunition that shoots good in one gun will not necessarily shoot good in another gun of the same caliber. Especially if you are shooting one in an auto and then try it in a revolver.
Thank you. Gun is already up for sale.

Mine always worked best with .358 bullets. Just a thing about the 929. It really didn't matter who's bullets I used. I liked ACME because they had such a wide variety of colors. I could easily separate my Steel Challenge loads from ICORE and USPSA.
I am not real cool on having to load larger bullet 9mm ammo.

They originally started out with a .355 barrel, but soon switched to a .357, seems to be the general consensus. Probably so barrel sizes don't get mixed up in production when there's only 1 (.357) to choose from.
Seems like a .38/.357 would have been a better choice for me.

Thank you. That is a bit annoying.

Hello There,
i picked up a used (but barely shot) 929. It had some machining and action work done done by a revo smith.
the action is light and everything seems tight but it groups rather poorly with ammo known to be accurate in other 9mm’s.
i have not slugged the barrel yet but I wonder if they put a .38/.357 barrel in it.
any suggestions?

Just don't smoke near the guy at chrono pulling bullets and we’re cool.

929 and my comp, I'm currently coming up with an "S" bent rod that will be long enough and use the stock DAA muzzle platform without having
to use the DAA adapter black that forever seems to be out of stock.
What holster do you use with your comp?

Does that fit the Comp-Tac holster?

Took me a while to get back to the club where I left my mag gauge.
My Glock 17 mag with the Taran Tactical 140mm basepad will not fit the gauge either.
So that sucks. Glad I only bought one to try.

Was this at MidAtlantic? If so he was CO and needed to make the 141, He was bummed he was bumped to open but this was his first big match and he's only been shooting a short time.
It was Mid A and I felt so bad for the shooter.
I just bought the same base, though for an open gun. I wanT to gauge my mag to see if it’s any different.

Only one hand on the gun.
Its a handgun not a “hands” gun.
It might not be a good plan but you can shoot one handed.

I use TTI +5/6 base pads with Glock OEM 17 round mags. If you use some fine grit sandpaper and sand the back corners of the feed lips your mags will fit the 171MM mag guage. Your goal is to break the corner. The back corner prevents the magazine from laying into the back of the mag gauges. Lay the sand paper on a flat surface and sand the corner of the magazine then check it in the guage, keep working the magazine until it fits. It does not take as much as you might think. The arrows in the pic point to where to sand. Don't just sand the corners you need to lay the back edge on the paper as you sand. Also make certain the the retention pin that stick up on the back of the base pad is fully pushed in so that it i recessed into the bottom of the magazine. I push the retention pin on the edge of a table to make certain that it is recessed or at a minimum flush. If this pin sticks down any at all it interferes with the fit in the guage.
That is right where the guys mags hung up

I have heard of people having to shave a base pad to fit. Happened to someone I know shooting open with Taran pads.
I would give TTI a call and see what they say. Report back here with what they say.
Not my mags. I was just the guy at chrono giving the bad news. Just seemed odd since I gauged a boatload of TTI mags and only that guys mags were a problem.
I was wondering why, and thought the answer might be he accidentally bought the longer base pads

Both of them fit the gauge. Is that what you’re asking?
Ran into a TTI that did not fit the gauge Sunday. Was trying to see what the problem was

Anyone know the difference in size between the 3/4 basepad that is USPSA 140mm legal and their 5/6 basepad?

Im not a fan of the magwells in CO or production.
Like a previous poster said, at some point it becomes L-10 minor -
Just bought a 929. I couldn't pass on the price. Guess ill be wheelgunning next season

Ive shot revo for years. Stopped when uspsa went to 8 shot because I had three perfectly good 625’s.
i hand loaded fir them and my .38/.357’s. But at least in a pinch those guns would all shoot factory, even if factory .45’s barked some.
