Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Good topic, I know of two GM's in the Mesa, AZ area that shoot nothing but Glocks. I know of another in Texas. It can be done..........the 1911 trigger is easier, but it is more the shooter than the gun. Steve
  2. Hey Brian, being the trained observer that I am, I completely did not see it. I went back and looked beyond the "forum". I remember hearing that you worked in corrections...............that must have sucked! After being a cop for 13+ years, I could never do it. Keep up the good work and let us local boys know when the new book is done so we can good on of the first prinings. Steve
  3. Brian, how do I get to the bio page? And where is the main page i see people refer to? Rob told me who he thought the lady holding the baby was...........and the gentleman.......is he wrong? I didn't start shooting at Rio until right after the academy in 1988. I look back at it now and there is hardly anyone still around from then. I can't imagine how it looks for guys like you and Rob. I am sure you remember when they would have the Tuesday night shoot offs. The first time I got to shoot in one was the first time I shot my .38 super, I had just got it built by Clay Faulkner when he was working for Guy. Man that was a nice gun......that would have been late 1988 or early 89. I got all the way to the final match, my hands were sweaty and I ended up getting beat by Tom Adair. I related that story to him and he laughed, I sucked pretty bad back then alot more than I do now. But it's still a blast. I wish more guys I work with could see that. Anyway, thanks for the great forum. Steve
  4. Brian, good question, I won't answer, because I already have the book and I talked to a good source.........those are some great pictures, I wish I was shooting then. Did you go to high school here? I have to convince the Mesa High grad that Chandler was AAA when he was going there. He probably has bad memories of Chandler kicking his butt on the basketball court. P.S. the only one I knew was Mike Henry besides yourself. Steve H.
  5. Greetings Guys, I have been shooting the Glock since 1989, and had an original G22 in 1990. I have shot alot of reloads through it, back before I knew any better. My first Desert Classic was in 1992 and I was shooting a load of AA #5 with a 155 Lead Semi Wad cutter. It made major and that was out of stock barrel. Like I said that was before I knew better. In around 1993 I had a KB with the same gun, but shooting a 165 jacketed bullet with Win 231 powder. No major damage to the gun, but I did learn some things. The cambers are very large to allow reliable feeding, the brass had probably been reloaded 6-8 times and blew out at the base of the case. Since then, I have been shooting a G35 since they came out. I put a KKM barrel in mine and when the PF was 175 I loaded a 180 grain bullet with VV 3n37, but since it come down to 165 I have been using VV N320. You need to only use your brass for about 4 reloads, then pitch it. Load the round as long as you can and still have it function, it will usually get stuck in the mags as they are feeding up in the tube. Good luck and stay with it. I have had some good success with my Glocks, and with all the stuff on my G35, it still costs me under 1000 bucks. STeve
  6. Gee Thanks..........I see, now that you are the Open Rifle champion, you want to come back and kick all us lowly limited shooters around some. Just kidding, I welcome the challenge, you will just be another one of the better shooters than me. I did like your picture in Front Sight, did you notice the ad for Browning shotguns in the same issue? Kind of funny when you consider who won the limited shotgun, huh? Later
  7. Good post Kelly, I agree with everyone else on the post's. I see your point about getting more shooters if a scoped limited division was created, but I think alot of shooters get involved with limited usually out of financial reasons at first and if they work hard and practice with what they have and spend their hard earned dollars for ammo and reloading gear they will see results. (long sentance, huh). You were a good shooter with iron sights before you started shooting open. You GREAT shooters keep shooting in OPEN class. I personally would like to see the SOF and MM3gun go with just iron or open class, that is if I can finish the MM3gun. Steve
  8. Hi Brian, great post.........I think this is the biggest problem facing new shooters (an old shooters like me). They see people shooting fast and think they can just throw the gun up there and get the shots to go where they want them to. If we could teach our cops to do this, our job would be alot eaiser.........but I guess if it was easy, everyone would want to do it. Everyone reading on this board should have a copy of Brain's book, I bought it as soon as it came out and still read that thing all the time. I should probably buy another as the binding is starting to come apart, there is information like this on every page. I know it has helped me everytime I read it. See Ya, Steve
  9. Greetings, great site Brain, I concur with Kelly, the Jakenator is what I have on my 20" Colt, and it works great, and looks great too. I have a Smith on a 16" and it looks great and works good as well, but Jake's works better in controlling muzzle rise.
