  1. I shot this one today with Lea County Action Shooters in Hobbs, NM.

Shooting Singlestack minor with my brand new pistol. First time I shot it was today. In fact, I don't think I've fired a handgun in about 11 months

On the first string, I shot left to right, reloaded, and went back right to left.

Right hand only I shot right to left.

Left hand only I shot left to right.

    Times were 11.06 + 6.25 + 9.07 = 26.38

Left target: 6 alphas, 2 charlies

Middle target: 6 alphas, 1 charlie, 1 delta

Right target: 3 alphas, 5 charlies

That's 15 alphas, 8 charlies, and 1 delta. Minor scoring gets me 100 points.

    100 pts / 26.38 secs = 3.7908 HF.

    According to classifiercalc.com, 37.8070%

    According to cmcalc.com, 37.81%

That's actually one of my better scores. Considering that it's my first time shooting that gun, and that I've been out of it for nearly a year, I'm not unhappy with it.

  2. Bobby added the FO front sight and the short trigger as well as doing a trigger job. I added the grips and reverse mag release. Other than that, it's stock.

I haven't even gotten to shoot it yet, but tomorrow is match day and I plan on using it there. Hopefully I can drag my butt out of bed in time to get there early and test it a little before match time. But unless it goes completely tits up (doubtful), I'll be shooting it in our local match tomorrow.

  3. Yeah, I'm thinking Limited 10 only because the 6" barrel makes it too long to fit the box for Singlestack. (I don't think Accu-rails are an issue at all.)

9mm/.38 is minor in any divisions other than Open or Revolver. Since it's obviously not a revo, you can shoot major in Open or minor in Limited/Limited 10.

So L10 looks like the division where that gun would be most competitive.

  4. The number of shooters shooting Major PF in production has to be fairly small.

Probably, but I've done it a few times. My Production pistol is a .40S&W. I don't reload, so I've shot factory ammo and been scored minor.

I'm sure I'm not the only one in that boat.

(And when I tried minor PF .40 from AA&A, the gun doesn't run it reliably. Needs a different recoil spring or something. Just not worth the trouble to switch it back and forth between one spring for one ammo for a defensive weapon and a different spring and ammo for a game gun. So it stays Major and maybe I'll get a dedicated Production Division gun one of these days.)

  5. Mike if you are planning on going let me know. we can share the ride and fuel expense. I was looking at this as well but was shying away due to miles.

    Will do.

I don't know how serious about this I am just yet. I was just scanning through looking for potential matches.

I put in for a New Mexico antelope hunt that would've been around that time but I didn't draw a tag <_<

So I just might justify the expense with a "well, I was going to do that, but now I'm going to do this."

  6. Is this thing full or can someone just show up and enter?

I don't think it is full right now & I guess the possibility is if you show up, you might happen to find there is an opening. I really suggest if you want in, just send your entry. Of course, you can play the odds & show up Friday with money in hand & maybe have weekend openings.

    Hey Mark,

It's highly unlikely I can make that one anyway. The timing isn't good for me. But at my job you just never know when you'll suddenly wind up with an unexpected weekend off.

  7. Oh yeah, expecting my new blaster on Tuesday. (I'm hoping he remembered that Monday is a holiday when he told me that. I'm not positive he can send an overnight package on Monday. Otherwise I might not get it until Wednesday! )

What makes it worse is that I'm sitting around doing nothing this weekend when I could be at a match shooting my new pistol. Yeah, I have other guns I could shoot, but I'm too amped up over this one to care about the others right now.

I expect to be real busy at work the next week or two. It may be very difficult to get off next weekend to go to a match. For that matter, it may be difficult to get time to make it to my FFL to pick up the gun when it comes in. :surprise:

A couple of vehicles in the driveway. Take the time to knock? No, lets just leave it on the steps. :angry2:

Both FedEx and UPS are sprinters around here. They usually ring the bell. My computer chair is about 20 feet from the front door and if I'm real quick to jump up and get to the door when I hear it, I might see him getting back in his truck. Pause for a moment to set down my drink and when I get to the door, if I see the truck at all, it's pulling away around the corner.

  8. Very nice. I have been reading and hearing a lot of great things about the CZ bolt guns.

    Thanks.

CZ rifles are impressive. A $15 trigger kit you can install yourself at home in 20 minutes makes them competitive with the $$$$ Anschutz guns (IMO).

    CZ 452 Varmint .22LR & Leupold FX-3 25x40mm with 1/2 MOA dot.

I've won a couple of local NRA silhouette matches with it.

I'm getting ready to take it to the NRA National Silhouette Championship in Raton, NM in July to compete in Smallbore Rifle and Smallbore Hunting Rifle.

I saved it, but I wish it was larger.

I've seen that two or three times recently.

I don't know the exact threads where I saw it, but I can tell you what I was doing when it happened.

I do a search. Look at the search results and see a bunch of stuff I want to read. I quickly go down the list and press down on the scroll wheel on my mouse (which is the same function as right click, then open in a new tab, using IE by the way). I may do that for six, eight, or ten topics, then go through and read them one at a time. One of the tabs may show that error message. By that time I don't remember which thread it was supposed to be.

  11. I'm IN!

Just got back from mailing my entry form and match fee.

I've never been to any but Level I matches. Been meaning to hit the Texas State Limited for several years, particularly because it's convenient to me. My grandmother lives just outside of Breckenridge, so I have a place I can spend the night for free.

I have shot a couple of local matches at that range and keep telling them I'm going to make it down for the TSLC.

  12. Winchester White Box is crap ammo. I would never recommend it to anyone. Their quality control, or lack thereof, is inexcusable.

    True.

Some guns will run it just fine and some won't hardly run it at all. I think that's where some of the debate comes in; those who have not had problems simply do not believe the stories from those who have had issues with it.

(I'm sure some lots are worse than others too.)

I've been lucky. My guns run it fine, other than being a little dirtier than other ammo.

Not my first choice in ammo  but it's nice to know it will work.
