I was going to show this to a buddy of mine and now I can't find it. Is it gone for good or does anyone know where I can get a link?
-
If you got one of those barrel facing cutters from Brownells and re-crowned the barrel back .050 you'd be good to go. Might have to cut the slide face back the same amount to match (depending on how far the barrel sticks out of the slide now) but you could do that with a flat piece of thick glass and some 100 grit wet or dry sandpaper and water.
That has been considered, and not completely ruled out.

Shown with my pseudo-Wilson shotgun, a Remington 870 inspired by the Scattergun Technologies Standard Model.[Wilson magazine extension, Wilson mag spring and follower, Wilson oversize safety button, Wilson side-saddle shell carrier (which I'm pretty sure is made by TacStar), Surefire forend/light, XS big dot tritium front sight, ATI adjustable stock.]
-
Details, before I added the scope:
Wilson Combat Recon Tactical in 6.8 SPC with the 16" fluted barrel <click the link for specs from the website. -
Wilson Combat Recon Tactical in 6.8mm SPC II with the 16" fluted stainless barrel. Wearing a Leupold VX-R Patrol 1.25-4x20mm in a Wilson Combat Accu-Rizer Scope Mount. Also has Wilson Combat Quick Detach Sight Set as a backup sight system.
-
Mock-up using parts from other guns:
Mainspring housing/mag well, thumb safety, trigger, and mag catch are from my STI USPSA Singlestack. Hammer is from my Kimber Ultra CDP.
Those grips will probably end up on it, but everything else will be black.

Welcome.

New baby
Commander-size Rock Island. .45 ACP.
I've been experimenting with kitchen-table gunsmithing. So far I've limited myself to small parts that can be easily replaced if I screw them up. Before I start hacking on frames and slides of more expensive pistols, I decided to get something that doesn't brake the bank if it ends up as scrap.
I didn't realize when I ordered that it has a bull barrel, making it illegal for Singlestack Division (4.25"). No biggie, I didn't get it for competition anyway.
Plans include checkering front strap, slight undercut of trigger guard, mag well (maybe the Stan Chen weld-on which don't extend the grip and, IMO look bad-ass), beavertail grip safety, extended thumb safety (probably ambi), new grips (already have from Esmeralda), new trigger, new hammer, trigger job, flat-top slide, tritium sigths, and open up the ejection port a bit. If I manage all that without destroying it, I know a guy who does really nice engraving and I may have him fluff it up a little before having it refinished.
-
Please concider my humble aplication.
I only have a few Limited-10 classifiers on file, but I also shoot CDP in IDPA.
And to help my aplication I rebuilt this 1911 as my carry gun (hopefully without offending JMB).Original.jpegLeft.jpegRight.jpeg

Welcome.
Let me know if I missed someone.
Trini, I'm waiting for word from the membership committee.
-
What ever happened to the monthly standings? I enjoyed checking them, not that it mattered, but.....
I've been slacking.
And the newer forum software doesn't work as well with the way I was listing them. Working on that.
I'll get them up, but I'm not sure when.
-
Look quick. Before it gets taken down.
That link didn't work for me today.
Try this:
This must never die.
-
Just read your thread mgood, glad to hear it worked great for you I'm really looking forward to some practise and shooting a few matches with it, I won't be shooting it much over the next few weeks as I'm preparing for our IPSC provincials and I'll be shooting the CZ shadow in production and don't want to complicate anything learning a new gun/sights & grip till after
I think you'll love that pistol. I do.
I'll be shooting my CZ 452 Varmint in a smallbore rifle silhouette match tomorrow.
-
I haven't been on the forum in a while so I just saw this post.
I've had the exact same set up for about a year. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=153190#entry1737454
STI USPSA Singlestack 9mm.
I have ten-round mags from both Tripp and Dawson. It runs flawlessly with either.
-
Supply and demand.
If someone is dumb and/or desperate enough to pay that, I hardly blame the merchant for selling it for what he can get.
-
Happy birthday, John Moses Browning!

It's a mess. Now I've got to figure out how to make the columns line up on the new forum layout.

When you clean your car out(under seats and trunk) and find enough loose ammo to shoot a match.
Been there. Done that.

That's cool!
Here's mine:

I think Les is more than qualified.
lol
In Nemo's absence, I guess I'm still doing this.

Welcome.
Let me know if I missed someone.
-
. . . at Texas state limited. . . . God it was hot. . . .
Yes, it was!
I zeroed one stage. The last stage Saturday I was about to die of heat stroke.
I barely paid attention to the stage description, did a half-assed walkthrough, then sat in the shade with my head down, not even watching the others shoot, until it was my turn. I didn't care at that point. I didn't even notice a whole array of targets. The RO looked pretty surprised when I unloaded and showed clear.
Not making excuses. I know that preparation, hydration, et cetera, is part of the game and I was unprepared. . . .
I saw a couple of people there wearing BENOS shirts. Meant to go introduce myself and never got around to it.
Don't know if that was you or someone else.

Good shooting, and you learned some valuable lessons. So it was a win-win
Gotta love shooting Limited with SS gear
Thanks.
I proved something that I'd heard several times before. You can't win a match with one stage but you can lose a match on one stage.
Zeroed one stage out of 12 and still shot into C Class range in Ltd with my SS rig.
I really wanted that belt buckle.
I've been beating just about every D shooter in every division at local matches for a while but getting whipped badly by most C shooters. So I thought it was worth a try. Still think it was a good strategy.
I'm just proud I made it through my first major and didn't forget my holster or belt or something.
And didn't DQ.
Although, there was one place where I might have been DQ'd. After a stage, one of my squadmates asked me if I AD'd there. I was trying to figure out why the gun didn't fire, and it fired. I said "I was trying to make the gun fire, and I was pointing in the general direction of the targets. I just didn't really expect it to go off right then"
I later figured out that I had not completely depressed the grip safety and when I changed my grip to see what happened, then it went.
I "modified" the grip safety before my next match. It still moves normally, but it doesn't do anything.

Not making excuses. I know that preparation, hydration, et cetera, is part of the game and I was unprepared. (Hey, it was my first major.)
Kristin Jarrard did especially well on that stage. Throw out that one stage and I win D.
Oh well, maybe next time.
I was 75th out of 91 shooters in Limited Division and, I think, 114th out of 140 over all combined divisions.

I shot Limited Division at the Texas State Limited . . . using a 9mm 1911 and all Singlestack Division legal gear and placement.
Sort of challenging them on their own turf.
I almost won D Limited.
I know, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. But I had NO chance of winning in Singlestack or L10. I came within a hair of winning D Ltd, which would have gotten me a cool belt buckle and $250 STI contengency money. (With which I would have bought a frame to build another singlestack, probably in .45.) I competed where I thought I had the best chance of winning something. I had just that month moved up to C in SS and figured I had a better chance against the D Ltd shooters than against the C SS people.
