  1. Mags came today and nope they wouldn't engage mag release. Take off base pad and the metal sleeve will engage. Might try doing some sanding of pad or just look for different pads. Any ideas?

These are not Marked Made in Canada, correct?

Me- I would sand down the top of the pad.

  2. I've gotten a 140MM STI magazine to fit using a lot of filing. I had to reduce the front and rear of the mag to allow it to drop free, as the spring and trigger bar were hanging on the mag.

Maybe I reduced it too much, but I can over insert the mag beyond the magazine catch. It requires a lot of force to remove once over inserted. It also can only happen with the slide locked back. I'll try adding something like a sleeve to the mag body to prevent this over travel.

I know Mike Seeklander added a set screw to prevent this. I do not know the details. Its also possible that the Dawson Posilok magrelease might help but I do not have one to try.

  3. This seems like the right place to ask this -

Currently running a carbine stock/buffer tube/spring with a "H" buffer. 16" mid gas Wilson Combat Barrel, JP lo-mass BCG, Syrac adj gas block and Surefire MB556 brake.

Going to change to a MOE stock/rifle buffer tube/TTI light spring.

My question is ---- will I need to remove one or more of the weights in the "H" buffer? As near as I can tell the JP lightened buffer weight is the same as the "H" buffer so I should be close?

Your H buffer is a carbine length, you will need a rifle length buffer.

Bummer. I knew you couldn't use a rifle buffer in a carbine tube as it was too long, but thought the opposite was ok. Evidently not, so it's off to order the JP Low Mass Rifle buffer.....

Before you order the JP, you can buy a regular rifle buffer and remove the steel weights and replace them with something like a a length of delrin rod. Mine came out to 2.9 oz and much easier on the wallet.

    This works quite well.
  4. I'm hoping it's something simple like "I bet you've got the leg of the spring on part X on the wrong side of part Y".

My money is on the slide lock spring being in wrong. See it all the time on Glocks. There should be a lot of tension on the slide lock lever. If not it just flops around and keeps locking the slide.

  5. I can vouch that the svi magazines do not work in the gun. I hav yet to find an sti mag that someone would let me borrow

I have several friends with custom 2011s and tuned STI or SVI mags.

The tuned mags work without modification and are 100% reliable.

    I have the target model-51680

I think the issue is that all mags are not to the same specs and might require some fitting.

Dawson has a video and tools for this meant for STI frames.

Most tubes out of the box are a bit too wide from the mag catch to the top of the tube

I was in a shop yesterday going through different STI/SVI mags and some were very close - others not so much.

If you want to run those mags its probably best to send the gun to a smith for fitting.

  6. Ken, Is that .350 back and front or .350 back and a bit wider at fron ( like STI Specs)?

I've been using STIs primarily and with tuned mags even with lightened recoil spring reliability is there.

My mecgars, paras are another story . I was planning on tuning them at a later date.

    Thanks for the info

  7. The more I look the more I get confused about these mags.

    http://www.us.advancedtactical.com/shop/product-detail/2011-A-2-22TCM-9mm-mag-Mecgar-17rounds/

These say a2 only and my model 51947 at least says a2, where I can find it anyway it's not even on armscors website. Wish this page gave a model number to look for them elsewhere.

Those are for 22tcm/9mm or 9mm models with factory magwell- 51679/51947. the feedlips are modified for the 22tcm but work with 9mm also.

    it should fit yours.

  8. Interesting, is the above linked mag different then what comes in a Normal 9mm hi cap version?

http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/1371120.htm Found these that sound like they will work With factory mags and are cheap.

That's the pad that is on the 20rnd preban para mags. It will fit the mecgars. it will not fit the models without the factory magwell without reducing the top

It should fit the models with factory magwells without mods but as I do not have one I cannot confirm

Do these mags work %100 when using 9mm? And does anyone know if they have ribs that limit capacity like the tcm mag?

The only ones that have been 100% are STI/SVI for me

I have 4 or 5 from the above link.

    Nosedives galore initially

I have 2 that work now after opening the feed lips and replacing mag springs with Wolff.

There is also a trick using a9/64 drill bit to deepen the feed groove. i have not tried that

The new Para 18.9 mags were even worse and supposedly they are also mecgar
