  1. Data Iv'e looked at for jacketed seems a bit longer too. Hodgedon suggest 1.100. I might try and see how it fits.
  2. I havn't been doing much loading (or shooting lately) I have some 115gr lrn that I've shot in my Glock. They are a COl of 1.140 work fine. When I tried them in my P-38 they jammed. Tking the gun apart and looking I found they were not seating all the way in the chamber. So I made a few dummy rounds at 1.068. They fit pretty well in the chamber. ( I don't have a case gauge for 9MM right now) So I have to start a new load work up. None of my manuals have a lot of lead data. But anyway, am I on the right track here?
  3. Thanks everyone. I've never heard of them,so I wondered about the quality. The price seems good and the db level is decent.
  4. Anyone here ever use the ZEM hearing protectors that the NRA store sells? I was thinking of trying a pair.
  5. Thanks everyone. That's a great read looks for targets.
  6. I.ve been trying to load long also. It seems like maybe even most of the data I've seen keeps them on the short side. 1.100, 1.090 and such.
  7. I know this has been asked, but I'm having a hard time finding it,in search. I have manuals, an older Hodgdon for example that don't list a COL for loads. Can you help me with understanding this concept? 1. If no info is given, how do you determine COL? W/o being dangerous? 2. Is there a formula for determining COL. Such as when you reduce a load 10% to get a start point? 3. I know to use my barrel to do a drop test (in leu of a case gauge) is there other equations or factors to look at? Thank you everyone for helping me to learn to think for myself.
  8. I had the exact same thing with Win231. About every one in ten would hang up in the chamber. (about 1/3 out of chamber) Maybe lengthen or shorten COL?
  9. I understand there is a big difference when you fiqure in bullet shape, coefficients, and other aspects. But the diff. between Hornady and Hodgdon..wow.
  10. Same here, A very light crimp for my AR's.
  11. I'm looking at loading .223 55 gr. Sp. with H335. My Hornady 7th list's this load max 23.4 I think. I don't have the info with me. Hodgdon has a max at 25.3. Same COL 2.200 My speer and loadbook has everything from 24.0-26.0 (some don't give COL) This seems a big difference. Any thoughts?
  12. Thanks for the help everyone.
  13. I've been loading them at 2.250 which works perfectly in my guns. So would it be alright to leave them like this? I really don't want to change my OAL.
  14. I have loaded Hornady 55gr FMJBT and Hornady 55grSPP, both with cannalure. I loaded them the same length. The cannalure on the FMJBT is right at the case mouth. The Spirepoint is a little above it. Is this because of the diff. in a boat tail as apposed to the flat point?
  15. "I wish everyone would just buy good ammo so I could pick up good brass." I hear ya. Does the Dillon screw in like the RCBS?
  16. has not set their status

  17. I'm using RCBS rifle dies. I've broken two decapping pins. Just checking to see if anyone using Dillon dies have ever had this happen?
  18. Told ya it was a dumb question. Good answers though.
  19. I have an 8 shot Tac Star mag extension. I damage the spring and I can't find a replacement for the 8 rounder. I like the metal tube. Anyone know where I can find a spring? I've looked at the usaul places.
  20. Ok, I know this is probaly a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway. Do you use anything to clean the powder hopper (the glass part inside) I would think various chemicals may not be a good idea.
  21. Thank you, I have some 231 I'll take a look at it.
  22. I thought I'd follow up on this. I only took two guns. The one I shot the most was the Glock. I loaded two charges 4.1 and 4.3 I shot thirty of each out of the Glock and had one FTE on each load. The Glock has had hundreds of factory rounds through it without flaw. I'm wondering about COL, now.
