  1. I trim all my .223 brass. I've got some test rounds loaded. Can't wait till the weekend so I can shoot them.
  2. Thanks for the follow up. It's a Bushmaster, 1-9 twist .
  3. Ok, I worked out all the bugs (I think) and I'm ready to load some .223. I have some Tac and Xterminator powder. Only confusing part is finding the right OAL. Loading 55gr. Hornady FMJ with mixed brass for plinking. I'm finding some charges for Xterminator. The OAL I find is 2.250 and 2.260 Which do I use? Any help
  4. Thanks, for all the tips on length. I never thought about it.
  5. I hear ya on the opinions. People I've talked to think it's best for an AR.
  6. I just orderd a Dillon crimp die from Enos .com. for my .223. How do I go about setting it up? Iv'e done pistol dies, but not rifle.
  7. I'm new to rifle loading. So how are Remington and Winchester .223 bullets?
  8. Thanks, Both ends seemed to fit the mouth of the case. So I wasn't sure.
  9. I picked up some used tool heads, along with some powder dies. Anyway, the funnel for the .223 powder die... Which side is up or down? One end has groove around it.
  10. Ok, so I found a job I don't like. (one of my other post I mentioned that I like every aspect of reloading) After I tumble my .223 brass to get the lube off, I find some media in the primer pocket. What a pain in the flash hole. Now I don't have a flash hole deburring tool. But I fiqure this will be the best way to deal with it?
  11. This really is fun stuff. Loadig pistol has just become kind of mechanical. Don't get me wrong, I still look in each case and pay close attention. It's just that there are so many steps to loading rifle, that it's more interesting.
  12. I know it seems like a dumb question. But I really enjoy doing it. I find every aspect of reloading to be relaxing. Oh, and it's .223 brass on a Dillon 550. It's been tumbled, so I'll resize, deprime and trim. Then set aside till I get some bullets. Thanks for the support.
  13. I don't have all my equipment and componets together yet. Can I resize, deprime and trim cases. Then set them aside to load later?
  14. Thanks for the info everyone. I hope to have everything to start in the next month or so.
  15. Upstroke, Pretty sure but now I'm goint to be extra aware of it. The OAL of mixed brass is something I didn't think about. Crimp is .470 that's not an issue some are longer, not shorter. Thanks for the reminder's to not become complaicent when loading.
  16. I will eventually star loading .223 for an AR. Two things I'm having trouble searching up. 1, I have a hard time telling which brass needs swaged. Can I run all of it through my Dillon Super Swage? Just to be sure. 2, I know basically how a case gauge works. Is it all I need to check my loaded rounds. For instance now I pull my barrel ( 1911's) and drop them in to check. Any info would be appreciated.
  17. I ran out of cases. When I run more I'm going to have all stations going.
  18. It was the only station I had on. I think I see what your getting at. Didn't know that you needed something in all of the dies. Makes sense though. Thanks
  19. I've been running some .45 ACP lead bullets on my 550. Iv'e adjusted my seating so I'd get an OAL of 1.25 After running some they were 1.26. Again I'd set it for 1.25, again they came out 1.26. Three or four times this happend. No big deal, when I drop em im my barrel they are even with the hood. I just thought it was kinda wierd.

  21. Thanks, I made a bunch with 5.4 grains of Unique. They shoot well, I appreciate the PF info.
  22. Another vote for Monkey Grips
  23. What do you think of that load using 5.4 of Unique Dave?
  24. I did get around to shooting some of these. OAL was 1.200, I used Win231 and Unique. The loads with 5.4 grns. of Unique were the ones I liked best. No function problems, accurate and less smoke.
  25. Kimber Custom II, When I took the barrel out and dropped one in the chamber it was above the top maybe a couple of hundredths . Let me clarify. I'm not using proper termanology. Not headspace, but when I do a drop test test in the removed barrel, they fit good and are flush with the hood.
