  1. Looking thinner. Cool! I finally sent my lifter out to Jeff. I was hoping to save the beans for other goodies but the loading just didn't feel right so now it's a little wait time before I can get practice in. Local GS had Fed. shells for $57.50 a case OTD so I started collecting a little stash for the up coming season. Also, the Dillon has been getting a work out as well as the tumbler.
  2. I lost around 150 9mm brass to the snow / ice at a two gun match (PPC and M&P) on 12/29/12. Then lost a few more rounds at a Steel match on 12/30/12. Some days I collect brass some days I don't. My New Years resolution is to load more ammo for next season, but this season doesn't want to end.
  3. Dukduk, Looks pretty good. For me and my hands I felt the thick bump on the sides so I tapered them down. Your hands will let you know if you need to work it down. It's plenty thick on the sides and a good course file can get it down and even, then smooth out w/400 grit. I'm glad you have your JM back and have a Happy New Year!
  4. Currently I think the receivers are made of unobtainium.
  5. Personally, I'd recommend buying a rasps (very course type file) .http://www.instructables.com/id/Introduction-to-Files-and-Rasps/ That way you could get a nice flat and even taper away from the port. Then finish off with various grades of sand paper on a sanding block or wrapped on a piece of wood. Just my .02
  6. In message #25 I posted a couple pictures, here's another view. I just removed the foregrip and slowly worked it down with a table mounted belt sander. For me the ribs on both sides felt odd so I worked them out as well as tappering the bottom. I smoothed it out by hand w/400 grit to get rid of the scratch marks.
  7. My lifter, message 15, has a "u" shape notch at the end and the one in message 25 is squared off. Is mine the old style? Thanks, Steve
  8. whats the reason for the lip? like a guide or a funnel for the shells? i was gonna send mine back out for something like likestoshoot's gun I went ahead and took some more off my forearm. When I get my Mark Otto holder I can start to practice and see where I need to modify if needed.
  9. After a brief search on the net I decided to forget trying to make one and called Mark today to place my order. He'll call me when it's ready and then I'll send him a check. I know what I'll be doing during these cold winter month's, practicing. (As well as reloading, dryfire, air soft and maybe a few things around the house. )
  10. Message #12 is a "before" and #15 is an "after" pictures of someone smoothing out the extractor cut on an MKA 1919. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=161572#entry1802623
  11. Thanks, I'll see what I can find here in town and start a new topic if it works out. The leather weight lifter belt looks like a good platform to build on,
  12. For sure in the Netherlands. I'll be checking Lowes and Home Depot here in Missouri. Don, Please let us know if you find any in Texas.
  13. Great idea! Would you please post a few close up pictures of this rig? Thanks, Steve
  14. Three consecutive runs of 9+1 alternating between a plate rack and static steel without any problem shooting fast.
  15. When you get out and run a bunch of rounds through your gun, please let me know if you have any problems or issues with the gun feeding out of the tube, etc. Thanks Mike I sure will I but don't expect any problems because I just increased access to the lower portion of the tube at the bottom of the receiver. The elevator is still at the same spot to catch the shell when it's released. Weather forecast looks good for trigger time this weekend.
  16. Mbauer67, I just did that last night and have not live fired a round through it. I just copied what I seen Mark post in message #14. I've only shot one 3-gun match and at this time I find that loading "traditional, strong hand" feels good to me using APCustomsUSA.com 4x4 carriers. When shooting that match under pressure I didn't really feel a need for a welded lifter but did not like having to push my thumb so far up the tube to ensure the shell was captured. This deep throating made dry practice feel so much smoother and I hope Santa brings me a GTO or TWinS system to work on.so I can try another loading method.
  17. Here's my JM 930 after a little effort to open things up, yea I know I need to smooth things out a bit but it does load easier now than before. Thanks Mark for the nice pics and advice to see the follower showing, that makes a BIG difference.
  18. You could use some hose clamps, bread ties or zip ties to hold it back on after you pull it off.
  19. Highside989, I'm glag you're enjoying you JM on Black Friday instead of standing in line somewhere, or sitting a work like me with nothing to do but cruise the internet. Once your JM is broken in you may want to try some of the weaker Winchester Universal 2.75, 1200fps, 7.5 shot, again. Mine seems to run fine with these now but I have about 2K through mine.
  20. Kurt, There's should be no worry going to Sparta. Just make your guns legal for taking into Illinois and all should be good. Living right accross the Big Muddy, in St, Louis, I've often felt the same about going into Obama's home state. A feeling of loathing comes to mind as I have to disarm myself to be "legal" when crossing the JB bridge and enter Illinois. As I drive just below the speed limit through Columbia, IL and next Waterloo, IL. I feel more relaxed having passed their local radar traps. Once I reach Red Bud, IL. I start to get excited because I know good times and good people are only a short drive away. Steve
  21. If you get a pair of these you can adapt the the 4x4 with tec lok and remove them very easily when you know you're going to go prone. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Safariland-ELS-KIT1-2-Black-Equipment-Locking-Kits-w-2-Forks-2-Receivers-/380486358358?pt=BI_Security_Fire_Protection&hash=item5896c11556 The original AP Customs 4x4 already comes with the tec-lok. Correct, that's why I wanted to convert mine so I could remove them EASILY when not needed. With the ELS it's done it seconds.
  22. Then they remove them and go with conventional chokes?? Like I said, I don't have one but it looks like a great way to go. Plus it's cheaper and easier than buying several chokes. Looking at the Poly Choke website it appears there's a vented AND a non-vented model. Look at the following link, I asked about this back in Sept. but haven't acted on it since I already started a choke collection. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=135287&hl=poly%20choke#entry1789153
  23. Thanks Steve, it was great shooting with you!!!!! But, my sons name is Devin. LOL Sorry Joe, I corrected my mistake. When I was writing that post I couldn't remember your son's name. I thought it was "trunk monkey" or Aaron. My buddies in the room at the time, Bacardi and Coke, convinced me to go with Austin. LOL That's a fine young man you have there, I'm sure you're proud of him. I hope to shoot with you two again in the near future. Steve
  24. I started buying entended chokes for my JM 930 and now wish I had bought a Poly Choke II instead. http://www.poly-choke.com/choke2.htm I may get one and sell my seperate choke tubes over the winter.
