  1. Hi Patriot From the big 3Gun matches I have been to, I see a lot of FN FAL's and copies in the He-Man class and the folks that want to shoot major. A few of the reasons you see them are the push button mag release, the cheep and plentiful 30 round mags and the very efficient muzzle break on them. Now don't get me wrong, I love my M1A and used it to shoot in 3gun and High Power matches till the mid 1990's. But if I had to do it again, I think I would get a FN FAL for 3gun.
  2. Here is a pic of my ARMSCOR 38 super brass. This batch was bought in September of 2003. These were new brass, NOT FIRED This wasn't a hot load. You can tell from the condition of the primer. I will NEVER buy ARMSCOR brass again.
  3. THANKS JEFF Now I have to get a new firearm(like I can afford it)
  4. How many rounds is 'several at the beginning', and what manufacture were they? It might be just a little dirty and need a little cleanning.
  5. I'm getting to the point where 3Gun should be Bolt rifle, Carbine and Shotgun. In a tactical stand point, the only time you need a handgun is when you have exhausted all your long gun ammo.
  6. If your a USPSA member you should check out this months Front Sight magazine. It has a good article on the TecLoader.
  7. These arn't roll pins, they're solid pins. Do you know if this still applies.
  8. Anyone know about the post ban Colts proprietary muzzle break? I want to remove it and can't seem to be able to remove the two pins that hold it on the barrel. Are they tapered like the gas block/front sight? Or does colt use some sort of lock tight or do they sweat them on. I know Colt is always a little worried about the Feds. hence the use of the blind pinned sear block.
  9. There is an inherent problem with Remington 1100 and 11-87 that most people that own them aren't aware of. This problem can keep you from being able to reload with your TechLoaders. This is the scenario. Your blasting away at all them nasty poppers, not counting your rounds. You run your shotgun dry, the bolt doesn't lock open and you pull the trigger and click, nothing. ‘Shit’ I should have been counting my shots. You yank out your TecLoader and try to ram home four fresh shells. Then this is when your loader turns into a grenade and all your shells are all over the ground. Has this happened to you? Want to know why. First thing you need to know is that locking the bolt back after the last round fired is directly related to The velocity of the bolt, which can be related to a couple of thing. How clean your gas system is and the power of your load. Now your wondering how this relates to reloading your gun. I'll tell you. There is a device called the Intercepter Latch, it's connected to your trigger. It's what keeps the next round from feeding out of the mag tube before it's time. Do you see where I'm going with this? You pull the trigger on an empty chamber and now the Intercepter Latch is out of position and is now blocking the mag tube opening. You see, it thinks there is a round in the tube, It doesn't know, It's a gun. Anyways You try to speed load and the first shell hits the latch and blam-o, shells everywhere. Moral of story boys and girls? Can you say, don't run your guns DRY
  10. The 3 major things I have done to make the TecLoader work reliably is to install a (1)EasyLoader gate. (2) is to change the ramp angle and polish the ramp face. (3) PRACTICE, PRACTICE and PRACTICE EasyLoader Gate
  11. Do you feel confident now that your brass could look like this too. Others have had this problem also, I'm not the only one. For a few dollars ($72 per 1000 Armscor VS $80 per 1000 Remington) more I will buy Winchester or Remington brass from now on.
  12. Yes im from the US of A This brass came from the US distributor in Las Vegas in November
  13. DANGER Don't buy Armscor brass This picture is from NEW factory brass. As you can see from the primer it's not over pressured.
  14. Anyone know where to find that handguard on that M14
  15. Check out Leupold's and Simmons website for their illuminated reticles Leopold Simmons
  16. Well Mr Packman I went into my safe and brought out a few of my AR's (colt, Armalite and DPMS)and tried an assortment of mags, new and well used. And every mag I tried moved for and aft in the mag well at least 3/32 of an inch.
  17. The 3 gun matches we shoot around here are mostly set up with over 30 rounds for a COF, usually 32-34 round count. Made this way so 99.9% of us have to make a re-load. I find this a little more challenging when you have to think about making a re-load and where to load. I have a Readi-Mag on my rifle and 2 fully loaded 30 round mags are a little heavy. So If I can get away with it I use 2 20 rounder‘s. (which is most of the time) And with sitting your rifle on your mag as a mono-pod isn't a really good idea. I have seen a lot of malfunctions attributed to this as your rifle is moving your mag forward and back and tipping the bullet up and down. Also you are pushing the top round hard into the bottom of the bolt carrier causing extra friction and slowing down the cycle of the action.
  18. My M1A NM that I use for Iron Man competitions
  19. Hi archangel On 11-87 barrels (except slug barrels) there is a gas check valve on the welded on portion under the barrel. There should be a gas cylinder collar (shown in the schematic) If this is missing you will have problems as you describe. The gas cylinder collar is the part you install last befor you put on the hand guard.
  20. Hi Big Doggy I shoot as many 3 gun matches as I can find(about one a month) but I feel I'm on top of what's out there. I see 25/75% on reloading to buying shot gun shells. I personally shoot Remington Game Loads 12ga-#6-1oz-3 1/4dram. I can buy this for $3.19 to $3.39 for 25 shells. Also This shoots the best out of my 11-87. It might be pretty hard to reload shot shells for under 13 cents a piece. The same goes for rifle, 25/75% on reloading to buying. And rifle (5.56/223) ammo is being sold over the internet cheaper then I have seen since the Assault Rifle Ban of 1994. I have been buying Federal Lake City and Winchester Q loads for $3.00 a box of 20 rounds. And for 99% of the matches I shoot they are perfect for my needs. (55gr full metal jacket boat tail) And your on the right track with the Remington Reduced Recoil, if they function in your shotgun. 3 gun is the cats ass. I would give up all my IDPA and IPSC matches(about 6 matches a month during the late spring to late fall) to shoot two or three 3 gun matches a month. "Maybe not" I would probably just shoot more matches a month..... Here is my 3/4 Gun gear Nowlin Para 38 super Remington 11-87 Colt Comp HBar And my MOR Remington 700VS when I shoot a 4 Gun Match Moderator Edit: Let's stick to the topic and omit the pictures you already have in the Gallery forum. They mess up the formatting and make life hard for people without high-speed connections.
