  1. I just got the red/green model and it does not work with my laserlyte target bummer on that.
  2. There is a 45 in works. The current one doesnt work in thumb safety, 45 or vtac models. Last update was januraryish so should be soon
  3. Yes it is the same, in your case .75
  4. Trade it in for an OBR;) As far as getting the DPMS to shoot out to 1000 meters, almost all of that is barrel and if your barrel is free floated(which it is). You might want to consider just having someone rebarrel it with preferably a kreiger, or at least a fulton armory one(around 400 dollars). Why mess around with the stock sub standard barrel? You can buy a better one for your purposes instead of recrowning, cryoing etc. Other than that reload your own ammo and you might make it. Past 800 the 308 cartridge, especially out of an autoloader is not ideal. Of course it can be done, but much easier by bolt actions and cheaper to. And significantly easier by different cartridges. The stock DPMS is the bees knees at 600 or so. Especially considering I can buy 3 for the price of one OBR, LMT etc.
  5. I love the M&P's just because from a shooting standpoint they seem to shoot superiorly. However there are alot more problems with them than glocks i'll definately give you that. I wonder if it's more just the M&P 9/40? I 4600 rounds exactly through my 45 so far and its been fine. I guess we'll see later on. Than again ToddG's 50,000 round test is pretty interesting.
  6. New or not they do crack eventually. It's not that big a deal. Just replace it when it happens. The newer slide though definately is a must, the old one(very unlikely that anyone still has it) is the one that was having all the problems.
  7. I use the M&P 45 midsize for everyday concealed carry. I had the trigger worked on and its almost a necessity. You can do some of it yourself to get it down to what the 9's are stock. http://www.burwellgunsmithing.com/M&Ptriggerjob1.htm. I have the safety on mine for two reasons. The biggest one is it acts as a thumbrest and helps me achieve the same grip everytime quickly and easily. Secondly is obvious...it's an added safety. Especially since my trigger has been worked on its nice to have on a carry gun.
  8. Heard bad things myself. But 19.99 was to good to pass up. Ordered 5 magazines with regular shipping. I was set to wait a long time for the package. It showed up in 4 days. Go figure.
  9. That's reassuring. I know it's accurate enough to hit the A zone at 50 if I do what I'm supposed to, so its accurate enough, but its hard to get used to seeing that space when all my other guns (1911/2011) are tight as they can be and still function. Thanks. BB all polymer pistols are that way. there is alot to the argument that a loose top end is far better for reliability also.
  10. Cool thanks for the info, i know theres definately not a huge demand for this item. I'll keep checking your site to see if it shows up.
  11. does anyone know where to get an M&P 45 magwell that would be legal for say IDPA CDP. I noticed that it looks like langdon used one when he got third at nationals with his but i didn't get to see alot of pictures so i can't tell. I don't want to use those POS ebay ones and the open class style ones are to big. Anyone know
  12. The picture is of the bench. This is the link to it from Lowe's. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=prod...&lpage=none I'm trying to figure out if I can run something simple like a lee single stage breech lock press or even the lee turret press. This is my first reloading forray and I need to do small(less than 100 rounds per week) of both rifle and pistol. So i'm going to try a simple press for a while and see how it goes.
  13. I have a small and humble setup that I mostly use for setting up weapons. This is my weapon cleaning station/gunsmithing area. It is a cheap $85 sale prefabricated unit from Lowe's. I was looking at getting into reloading. Will I be able to use this bench to mount a single stage press? It looks that since there is no overhang, the lower portion of the press would hit the cabinet drawers no? I have no problem fabricating another bench for $30 or whatever it would just be nice to keep it all contained.
  14. Has anyone ever encountered this http://www.dpmsystems.com/? Heres a gunblast article http://www.gunblast.com/DPM-SWMP.htm Just wondering what everyones take on this is. It's a replacement for your recoil spring and some kind of magnet. Any reviews other than the gunblast?
  15. http://www.kiesler.com/police/productdetai...6&pid=22021 Is this a good deal? Seems to cheap.
  16. For what its worth, we ordered our commemorative M&P45 Desert Tan's with engraving back in December and havent received them yet. I'm about to ask for my money back.
  17. Not sure I understand the "aim over the target" comment. The HK USP uses a conventional post/notch sight system. If the sights are zeroed properly, it should be a simple matter of putting the front sight right where you want the bullet to impact. (?) The sights come zeroed from the factory in the european style which is where your POA needs to be over the center of the bullseye to have a POI of dead center at 25m. Other sights like SIG's from the factory are designed to have a POA of the pumpkin on the post style with the sights below the lowest part of the center ring at 25m to have a POI of dead center. Really only a difference of 1-2 inches which is more accurate than I am at 25m without a rest anyways.
  18. Jimmy thats exactly what was happening I think. Since it was my first time doing IDPA and I was all amped up I think I ended up doing like isoceles at first because Im still trying to switch and then after the reloads or stage movement I would find myself doing weaver. So I was doing some horrible hybrid of the two. Not recommended;) More snap cap drills for me:( Oh well more snap cap drills are always good to slowly whittle away at my USP's double action trigger. Jane, I'll try the DVD. Books can only show you so much you know?
  19. Wow had my first match today. Was way more fun than I expected. I've shot USPSA before. I think USPSA was definately more fun but I didn't realize how much I need to slow down. I hit every target and had fast times. But I had minus points on every single target! Really need to sloooow down. I'm in the military and use the weaver stance. I tried at this match to do the isoceles type shooting. I found it very hard to line the sights up with my arms fully extended(i'm 6'4" so those arms are long). When using weaver its very easy as the sights are about 1 foot from my face instead of 3-4. I was using novak rear all black sight with a fiber optic front to. Kept hitting low, probably because it's an H&K USP and im not used to the european style sighting system where you aim over the target and not pumpkin on a post style. I bought brian's book so maybe that will sort things out for me. It's very distressing to shoot so bad when thats a big part of my job. Should I go back to weaver or keep trying the isocelles. I don't care that i've spent 1.6 billion hours training on the weaver, if the isocelles works better i'll switch to that.
  20. Ah good point, I forgot the LTC isn't one of the models with the double action LDA trigger. Oh well. I think im going to try taking off the magwell and shooting my custom combat(its a 40) in production until I get better and can do limited 10 easier. It's just tough to do as the 45 and 9mm ammo is free at our range. I haven't found out any info on shooting the custom combat in production. It should be ok as its not really a model, just a regular USP that came with the jetfunnel kt and FO sights. It's not the combat competition which has the double action/match trigger and is definatley not good for production. Maybe ill pick up a S&W M&P. They do a pretty good LE discount, I think I can get the 9L for something like 480 dollars. In ammo savings alone itd probably pay itself off in a few months. Thanks fellas.
  21. So I found a good deal on a para LTC. I've only shot a few matches with my USP Custom Combat in limited 10 and im getting spanked by pretty much everyone that shows up. They all have 1911's raced out minus optics and im just starting out. I'm looking at shooting production and as a side bonus I can get free 9mm at my range (active duty military gets free 9 and 45 ammo for IPSC at this range). So my question is the para LTC only has a 9 round capacity. How much would this minus 1 round per mag change after the first one affect the stages? Would there be situations were I would have to do say more tactical reloads?
  22. I have a springfield EMP i'd like to use for IDPA. How much of a hinderance would the 9 round magazine be. First series would be 10 rounds due to one in the chamber. Additionally I have a M&P45 that I could use or if the sprginfield wont work I can buy a M&P pro series 9 to use as a range gun/trainer.
