  1. I had the USPS to just chunk a case of MG on my front stoop. The box burst open. I rounded the bullets up, went to the PO to complain and ask them to weigh the contents to see if many were missing. The sourpuss lady would not cooperate and said that I needed to talk to the postmaster, who was not there. I left the box at the PO and asked the postmaster to call me, which she did the next day. I explained the situation and asked her to weigh the box. She could not understand how the determine the number of bullets from the weight, which I explained in great detail. She said she would look into it. The next day she called back and said she had counted ALL THE BULLETS and said I had 3507 bullets in the box. I took her at her word and picked up the box. Don't know if she was lying or not but I record the number of bullets used when reloading. Will find out eventually. Government stupidity.

  5. I was scoring a stage several years ago when a piece of jacket from an adjacent berm came whizzing at me. It impacted in my ear lobe and pierced it. When the shrapnel was about 1 foot from me, I saw it BEHIND the driving glasses I was wearing! Needless to say I started wearing wrap around glasses.
  6. I think you have it figured out perfectly. When I installed a V-TAC handguard, I allowed the red Loctite to set up for 1 day, then attached the barrel/ inner nut. I torqued it up so that the inner nut was aligned with the gas tube (mine was 75 lbs), then loosened the inner nut for a minute. Then I torqued it back again so the inner nut indexed with the gas tube. The torque reading was at 65 lbs, pretty much in the middle of the recommended torque range.
  7. A friend had a CM 1100 that would not run anything less than 3.25 Dram loads when new. It was oiled liberally and shot several hundred rounds to break it in. Still it would not shoot anything less than a 3 Dram load reliably. Then one day at a 3-G match this friend stepped up on a stage and commenced to firing some VERY LOUD loads. The squad started to closely watch the shooter (who is left handed) and noticed that every time a shot was fired we could see a flame from the ejection port fly out past the right ear of the shooter. Someone asked what was going on and I guessed that the shooter was using 3" shells. ShooterSteve then stated that could not be the case since the CM1100 only has a 2.75 chamber. About this time the shooter finished the stage and we verified that he was using 3" shells in the 2.75" CM1100. We then examined the gun closely to see if anything came loose. It appeared to be okay. After that the gun would run any load, even the lightest load. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS !!! Today the gun runs fine except for the occasional broken pin. I'm sure that is not related to any previous use. But seriously, make sure the gun is oiled well, put the splits in the rings 180 degrees apart and spray the gas ports out with disk brake cleaner when you have it apart.
