  1. A friend who is a manufacturer in TX sent me this image., He built and donated this rifle to the USMC for a raffle at their Birthday Ball. Info below: >>Mr. *****, here is a picture of your completed weapon, I plan to deliver it to you this week. Please let me know when a good time would be. I'd also like to discuss your raffle/Auction plans as I have a few ideas. We are very happy to be donating this rifle to the USMC for their Birthday Ball. It is an honor for us to give back to our servicemen and women. There will be a written press release complete with pictures documenting the weapon as a custom Tactical Arms of Texas "Sacrifice for Freedom" limited edition rifle. This rifle will not be duplicated due to its special circumstance and is a limited edition of 1(one). This rifle was officially deemed complete on 9/11/12 and displays all 50 stars of the flag. Due to obvious reasons of limited surface area, all the stripes aren't depicted. The weapon is fully functional and is not just a show piece. We will be offering a limited edition line of "Sacrifice for Freedom" rifles in black with the "Sacrifice for Freedom" challenge coin on the right side of the lower receiver of the weapon. I look forward to hearing from you Have a great day Trey Trosclair CEO Tactical Arms of Texas,PLLC 713-459-1105 Cell 281-778-8653 Fax ttrosc2@yahoo.com <<

    .45 ACP

Advice Sought: I've been reloading for a couple of years. Only 45 ACP and with W231. I load a 200 Gr LSWC over 5.6 Gr of W231 to 1.255 OAL and taper to .469-.471. This give me 870 fps typically as an average and makes PF for major. I find w231 incredibly dirty. Is this a characteristic of the powder or am I loading too hot or too light? Thanks for the advice. RMD
  9. Yeah the shirt WAS funny. Almost worth the price of admission to get that shirt. Great match from a noob. Thanks guys. RMD
  10. Let me add my thanks to the AMU, the RO's, the stage workers, the stats folks, and the soldiers that took the burden of resetting the stages after each shooter. Thanks to Squad 15 who, despite being pretty much all Yankees (Except Wynn), put up with two Southern noobs and even offered advice occasionally. My son and I had a great time shooting, but a better time making new friends. Thanks all. RMD
  11. Rain is rapidly moving eastward and out of the area. MGM is now dry. Columbus should be rain-free by mid afternoon. But oh, the mud we will find awaiting us! Red and sticky. See you guys there. RMD
  12. WX update for those following on mobile devices: Friday: 55 partly cloudy Saturday: 52 cloudy, 20% chance of rain Sunday: 55 mostly sunny. I'm leaving around noon Thursday (only 80 miles for me), last minute "OH $h!t, I forgot" let me know, maybe I can help. rduckworth@elmore.rr.com or cell - 402-968-4433. RMD
  13. So far, Wx looks to be pretty good. Highs mid to upper 50's no rain except for Friday night. Partly cloudy. No guarantee, just a forecast. RMD
  14. Yep, BTDT. It IS NOT fun. Glad you made it in and hope you get the rest you need. RMD
  15. Jim: Just funning you. Look forward to meeting you as well and hope for some tips from the more experienced. RMD
  16. Hand warmers??!! You Northern Brethren must be thin-blooded! Friday the high is forecast for 48 degrees. Some Southerners will be in shorts! No different from the Fourth of July and Christmas Wx for us. RMD
  17. Thought about it and was sorely tempted, but the ammo is all cloistered for this match and I had family in town visiting. Would have been a nice prelude. RMD
  18. Apparently mine caught it as well . . wait! I don;t have any spam filters set up and didn't get the email either. RMD
  19. That's the reason we are coming (son and I). Neither of us are experienced enough to do well, but this will be the very best training op available! AMU and national class shooters. RMD
  20. Thanks guys. I knew that someone had already BTDT. I did try to search, but apparently my search-fu is weak. Bob Dukworth
  21. The primer feed bar on my 550 is sticking when it moves to the rear to pick up a primer thus failing to grab the primer. I've cleaned it, run it dry, tried lightly lubing it with graphite, and finally adjusted the flat metal spring that buffers the primer retention pin. No joy. I put a little more bend in the driving rod on the primer system to push the bar back a bit harder/farther, but finally had to resort to tapping the rear upright on the primer bar with my finger on the down stroke of the press handle. Actually worked out well in my rhythmic loading routine, but I would still like to figure this out. No significant witness marks on the bar, so I'm somewhat at a loss for what's going down here. Any suggestions as to what else I can try? TIA Bob Duckworth
  22. Way back somewhere in this thread (page 14) is the round count from last year. I doubled that and stashed it in a box. Well, not quite 2x birdshot and about 4x slugs. The rules say "Thou shalt not use buckshot upon penalty of DQ" or something like that, so no buckshot. Lee Thanks. I'll go back and get the numbers. Time to crank up the Dillon. RMD
