  1. CDNN had some a little while back, might want to give them a call and see if they have any left.
  2. The barrel was ordered direct from Storm Lake extended and threaded... The barrel fit and finish is great. I do wish it was a little more over-sized in the hood area width-wise, but I did order the "drop in" barrel. The only problem was that it arrived with NO CHAMBER! But, Storm Lake paid for shipping and finished the chamber and had it back in a week, so great support after the fact. They said that they had a batch of the barrels split up between .38 super and 9mm and that one must have just missed the reaming step for 9mm.
  3. Thanks... The bottom of the dust cover has STI's name and TX address on it.
  4. Here is my new project build I've been building up over the last few months... I still need to get some better trigger parts in. I used one of my .45's for the trigger parts until I can get some more competition-oriented parts in there. I'm also using a junk thumb safety and a wilson drop in grip safety until I can fit the final parts, which I can't do until I get the real trigger in there (probably the Brazos trigger kit) The Storm Lake 9mm barrel has been fantastic. I also have some final fitting to smooth some things out (Like the reverse plug) But so far, the gun has been 100%, and very nice. It's pretty much my favorite handgun right now. 20 rounds with the stock base pad. It shot WWB 115gr and my 147gr hand loads, everything functioned perfectly with and without the silencer (AAC Evolution 9) I got to shoot it at a bowling pin match and man, is this thing fast. I pretty much halved my time (for my best time with the STI I had a time of 4.77 seconds for 8 pins at 28 feet, which for me is VERY good.) Previously I was shooting my Glock and Sig. Oh, you can see me shoot the Sig with the Evo9 here In HiDef, even. Yeah, I know, I missed twice Anyway, I LOVE the STI, I now know what I was missing
  5. I just dropped in a pre-tuned ejector on my new 9mm 2011 and it worked perfect for me. My only problem is that there is a small gap between the slide and the ejector on the horizontal shelf, but that's just an aesthetic thing, not a functional problem or anything. I got the standard extractor from them, not the pre-tuned.
  6. I have invested in a few external hard drives. Works great for fast copies of whatever I want to back up. Plus, it can be very seamless if you have 10.5 and TimeMachine. External hard drives have gotten cheap and you can use them over and over. Sure, DVD-R's are cheap and in bulk, but you will spend time and effort and possible software costs and the hard drives can be used over and over as needed.
  7. Same here. I've moved from the square 33lbs ones to the rectangular 40lbs one as they fit the depth of my wire racks that I stack them on better. The newer ones are nice because they are translucent too, so you can see brass levels without opening them. I can't wait to get some of those, but I'm all stocked up on kitty litter right now.
  8. That will work great. If you subscribe to the feed, iTunes will download any new episode automagically. Of course, that may or may not be what you want.
  9. Open iTunes, go to Advanced: Subscribe to Podcast paste: feed://www.mattburkett.com/podcast/podcast.xml into the field. Chris
  10. You should check each round in your chamber. I load 9mm on my 650 and it hourglasses with my dillon dies. In factory glock chambers, they ran fine, but in my Lone Wolf and Bar-sto 9mm barrels they would lock up hard (I'm talking pry-bar needed for removal ). I check all my rounds with a Dillon 9mm case gauge and all the rounds would pass, though the really "bad" ones were a little tight. Those tight rounds would lock up hard in my lone wolf barrel. I went with a Lee factory crimp die. It will resize the bottom of the case, but only if it's too big. It solved all my chambering issues.
  11. Hey All, I have a new .38 super slide (STI 1911) for future use with a 9mm barrel and a 9mm/38 extractor (Wilson Bulletproof) trying to get an idea about a good target when getting a 9mm to extract properly with the oversized breach face. From everything I've read: When tuning a .45 extractor, the belly of the extractor supplies the pressure to the rim of the case, the hook doesn't touch the case. When tuning a .38 super extractor the edge of the hook supplies the pressure to the extractor groove, the rim doesn't touch the extractor. But what about 9mm? I would assume that the top face of the hook (angled area closest to the barrel) should not touch the case at all, much like .45 and .38 super? If I relieve enough face area to not touch the case, when the round is chambered it will sit closer to the extractor and the extractor groove is now in a different place. But how critical is that given the possible lateral movement of the case upon ejection. The case will exit the barrel and slide over to the breach wall. What about extractor tension? Say you were using the Weigand tension gauges, use 9mm side even though it's a larger breach face and aim for what weight? Thanks, Chris
