Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Les, Looking at the winchester site they do a 24' ribbed barrel, and I have been thinking of getting one for limited class. I currently use a 11/87 and am used to the rib, however the I have bought an SX2 and the SX2 rib is quite pronounced and is more like a trap rib - I think it is going to take some getting used to for the higher sight picture in quick mounting shots. good luck
  2. Looks like I am not the only person in the World with a shiny 11/87 - long live sexy nickel plating
  3. Sorry mate didn't realise you knew Colin was ...Colin ...so to speak If you are still up for the comp on sunday we can compare and .....test fire...maybe.... the guns. I think the silence from other forum members hints at the fact we are heading for disaster though !
  4. is it a made for video movie or on release, I am about 6 months behind the US over here... Your write up sounds pretty cool though, and the Japanese/ chinese / thai / far east, names sound impressive......any good lines I can use at work ???
  5. Rich, Colin is Quattro....I know it sounds like something out of Total Recall but they are one in the same. (I never liked Mars anyway - to many mutants) E mail him from the site or I will e mail you his address. And the colin 'chappie' is the current BR PSG champ - your No 1 rival !! cheers
  6. Rich, You are a great chap and I would hate for your new shooter to end up in a hundred pieces......buuuutttt Your 1100 is to smooth anyway, and you (I) will never know otherwise... ....go for it and I'll supply the ammo everybody else take cover ! PS.. before you destroy it, is it a nice 87, and is it the 26' one
  7. Peter, thanks for the enquiry, I think I am going to hang onto it and treat her as a spare. She's a little cuty and I'll wait to brake her in cheers
  8. I would say get the old girl working again, the platform works and it could be fun trying. Mind you I know nothing about 1100's as you can tell from my current post but mines a prom queen and demands love good luck
  9. AAAHHHH Hotshot, softly softly catchy Geoffy, I knew you would eventually post something instead of just sitting on the sidelines browsing. Welcome matey. It is in new condition, fired 50 rounds total in its life and has sat in a safe for 10 years - all for £125 or $200 US. It would only take a bit of Quattro magic (colin A) to get the crimp out and its 3 gun ready. I bought it today, couldnt say no really as its shiny and new, but cant sell it on now as everyone knows how much I paid ! Anyway I do really want to know if parts will swap or I will just treat it as a spare gun. Actually thinking about it, the way your gun shot at the weekend you could do with a new one.....I have a nice one going for £400 !!
  10. I have just been offered an almost new 1100 at a silly low price and although I dont need it am considering using it for spares for my competition rigged 11/87. I know the trigger groups are interchangable but dont know if anything else is e.g barrels, piston, rails etc any input would be great ! cheers
  11. Rich, I know nothing about drops or how to measure them. As the SX2 and Gold are almost identical I figured they maybe the same. I messed about with mine tonight and think I will just get used to the different sight picture along the rib which is much more raised than a remmy. Its more like a trap rib, with a definite angle near the receiver. Looking at Winchesters web site it seems normal on their barrels. How do I measure this drop ?
  12. Rick, do you want to raise the cheekpiece because of the high rib on the gun, I must admit I have an SX2 without optics and do find I am shouldering it and having to adjust it to look down the rib. It seems slower than shouldering my remmy, or maybe I just need to get used to it. Blkbrd can I ask what the difference between shouldering it like a shotgun and not like a rifle means. I dont know much about shouldering rifles and would shoulder a rifle in the same manner. Maybe I am doing it wrong! cheers
  13. Tombstone: Ringo and the Doc facing off and speaking latin and the 'Tell them hells coming, tell them I'm coming.....' scene. Leon: Hotel room shootout "bring everyone, I mean everyone!" - way cool. (I counted five makes of assault rifle...sad I know.)
  14. I can see I am going to have to add a laptop computer to my list of things to pack when I go away on a weekend shoot......48 hours is a long time on this forum !! One question - who is Middlemass
  15. cheers guys, We are going through a 'total re- think' about the way forward and considering ditching the remmys, so any advice is well received.
