  1. I will do that but I also want one for live fire practice at home
  2. wheres a good cheap( if such a thing) timer to time my practice runs at home?
  3. Yeah the kids use mostly the .22s on paper ficusing on trigger control and accuracy. My daugher who is 15 now will be shooting the 9 with me tho. She is an awesome shot..Her rifle skills are awesome. I took her p dog shooting in South Dakota and she used my Savage 12VLP in .204 caliber to take prairie dogs out to 440 yards her first trip out. She learns quick and can really shoot well. The boys do OK but still cant out shoot her yet..lol Thanks for the advise to help keep us safe
  4. thanks for the quick reply...50 yds is a fair piece..furth than I shoot unless its my .22 pistol at prairie dogs..lol What is the size of the target at that distance? Surely not a 6 inch plate..lol
  5. what distances are you practicing at? Minimum steel distance for USPSA i found out is 23 ft..what is the maximum distance usually shot during competition for production class for paper/steel targets?
  6. Thanks for the help..I was shooting at a new indoor range and the owner invited me to shoot USPSA. BUT the metal plates they had there were 25 ft and he mentioned they had problems w lead splatter all the time ..I am just trying to stay safe. I live in the country so can set up a drill area and this will help. The kids shoot a lot so that also makes me want to be sure the bullets I use are safe. We always use glasses and ear protection. I make my kids use "ears" all the time every time. I wish my mom and dad had done that for me. My hearing sucks and i know it was from all the shooting for years, my own fault too. I cant wait to get the new gun, get it tweaked to my liking and then wait for Spring! 6 inches of new snow, 20 mph winds and below zero temps...no shootin today! lol
  7. My CC gun is XD40 SC..i use Winch FMJ for practice. I got an offer to shoot USPSA this Spring. Getting a new XD tactical in 9mm to use in production class. I was taught by dad years ago to not shoot at metal with ANY gun...I see lots of folks shooting steel plates. WHat ammo to keep ricochets from happening? Can FMJ be used? ONE guy said frangible bullets only? It seems I am gettiing several answers. I want to make my own steel targets for practice at home and want to use safe ammo..help???
