  1. sorry, I should have been more specific... Ramshot used to publish data for the 40 with their "Enforcer" propellant, it was within SAMMI specs, One of their earliest Load Manuals. The last few (gosh, maybe 4-5) editions no longer show it as a choice.
  2. BTW, try Federals 510 load and "Dicks Sporting Goods" carries the 714 load... GOOD stuff for not much money, its supposed to be the Gold Medal rejects. Shoots damn good in my 10/22!
  3. Hmm.. I load a lot of 223.. and I won't use the brass colored WSR anymore. The primers are much softer then the older silver ones. If you were using the 'silver' ones, ya might try out a hundred before you find/buy a whole bunch of the WSR.
  4. Try a Lee Collet Die after you've loaded them, see if you can still push them in as in your thumb test. And/ or Lee's factory crimp die works wonders (just don't over do it, you can really mash the hell out of your reload if you wanted too) And maybe one of those VLD brass chamfer gizmos. Let us know how things turn out!
  5. Kinda split'n hairs on this question,no offense, but I doubt you'd see any appreciable gain in speed. I think the same line of thought could be used controling the recoil. If you have a adjustable gas block try closing it all the way, fire a mag's (at least 30 rounds) worth over a chrono. Then try the same thing with the block set at its "normal" setting. Chrono/Record that data as well. Let us know what you find out. You might also try asking this question at ar15.com.
  6. Oops... and try www.m14tfl.com join the site and all your questions will be answered!!! IMHO...The best site around for the M14
  7. Do not use 760 in your M1A, its to slow of a powder for the gas system. read this article....www.zediker.com/downloads/m14.html Read the first two articles.
  8. Does anyone have/remember the load data for Enforcer in the 40. I can't seem to find the manual that had it, I do remember it chrono. pretty stout. I was getting 1350fps w/ the Horn. 155. This was with the minimum load. Never bothered to go any higher with the charge weight.
  9. You guys might be interested in the article in this months "Handloader" magazine. Not about pistol brass, but.... Its about 308 loads, shows Accuracy with virgin brass, once loaded and "Brass Endurance Testing" (fired to the point of failure) Good reading, answered a lot of questions. (hmmm... maybe created more questions)
  10. Don't suppose you've tried 3N38 ? As per Viht., 1200 fps from a 4" barrel. I'd like to know if your carbine likes that load.
