  1. Switching the threaded barrel for an OEM one would have been a fairly easy fix to make it comply with the currently proposed Production Optic rules but the undercut trigger guard could not be just as easily fixed to make it comply with the rules.
  2. I fail to understand why this hasn't happened yet but, at this point, I have lost all faith. I guess is another way in which USPSA chooses to be different from the rest of the IPSC world.
  3. Good idea... I'm shooting Production Optics (in Open Minor division)... XD(M) with DeltaPoint. ...and kicking some serious butt too.
  4. My current Major load recently made 179PF at a Level 2 match so, sure, 175PF is fine by me. :-)
  5. I vote we go back to the time when there were only two divisions to choose from: Limited & Open; that's it.
  6. Nope. It's the bullet's coating. I had the same experience using other powders too and, 'yes', removing that coating from the rifling can be quite the challenge. FWIW, I gave up on shooting BBI bullets in favor of FMJ's and the extra cost of jacketed bullets is (IMO) money well worth the extra expense.
  7. Personally, I believe the chamber of the KKM is a little bit more "forgiving." In my experience, the LWD barrel chambers tend to be a tad too tight for some reloads (nothing that couldn't easily be remedied by reaming it).
  8. They are only going to continue going up in price. It's best if you bite the bullet and spend your hard earned money now rather than wait.
  9. Burkett Timing Drills followed by Bill Drills. Shoot these until you find yourself surrounded by a pile of empty brass on the ground.
  10. So did Sevigny but there's never been any shortage of Glocks in the market.
  11. That was before Grauffel and Stoeger were winning National titles using Tanfoglios. Now they are going at CRAZY prices.
  12. I see. When the time comes for me to shoot Open (and if price isn't an issue), I think I would be more inclined to build a 2011. What I find appealing about a Glock Open is how cheap it is to put one together (vs an STI). Who knows... I might start buying SJC parts little by little just to try one out. In the end, I can always throw a .22LR top end on it and shoot Steel Challenge.
  13. I, for one, believe that this would be a great way of adding new members to our organization but, be advised, you will find a lot of resistance amongst the members of this forum. Many of them suffer from the delusion that, allowing Airsoft competitions in the US, will result in the immediate ban of all firearms.
  14. Finding one in 9mm may be no easy task.
  15. I am sure that SJC Open Glock pistols are an excellent choice but, I am inclined to believe that, if you bought all the parts and put it together yourself, it's going to cost you a lot less than $1925.
  16. File a case in small claims court.
  17. Yes. It meters well and shoots very accurately.
  18. 3.8 gr will make PF. I found that 4.0 gr was MUCH more accurate. Additional info: 1.135" OAL / 0.356" Crimp / CCI SPP / Mixed brass
  19. I find that dry fire has helped me with my gun-handling skills. As Ben Stoeger and Steve Anderson (amongst others) have mentioned in their respective books, dry fire is where you solidify a technique and live fire is where you practice it to make sure that you are obtaining the desired results on target.
  20. That is a nice gesture on your part but not really necessary. Every participant is responsible for knowing the rules and, if they don't follow them, chances are that they will be DQ'ed. It is true that some new (newer) shooters may feel ashamed due to being disqualified and, because of this, choose to not return; that is their prerogative. Sadly, because some clubs are hurting for participants, they will overlook safety issues just so they don't run the risk of losing a shooter. IMO, this is a very bad practice which can lead to other related problems. In the case of the OP, there is nothing that you did wrong. The shooter disregarded a rule and he paid for the consequences of his own actions. If he chooses to return next month, I assure you that he will be more careful next time.
  21. I used to feel like I was waiting for the slide to return to battery when I switched from shooting 124gr bullets in 9mm to shooting .40 S&W Minor with 180gr bullets. I have never felt it when shooting Major.
  22. No trolling; I go to Doodie for that. :-) I must have missed that thread. I'll do a search for it.
  23. Random question of the day: I notice that a lot of people in this and other shooting forums are always asking questions about shooting-specific pants. Do you wear your favorite brand/model of pants with just comfort in mind of do you also do it because they keep the gun always in the same spot (therefore facilitating the draw process)? I ask this because I don't always wear the same brand of pants and I have noticed that sometimes my draw is "a little bit off." I cannot figure out if it is because different pants sit differently on the waist or maybe I am over-thinking my draw.
