  1. Are you sure it's the firing pin? Have you polished any internals? I'd bee more suspect of the disconector. I would check for wear or polishing that would be causing it to go full auto. Just my thoughts.
  2. I remember waaaay waaaay back when I first started shooting. I was using a Colt Delta Elite 10mm and my rounds were to long and kept catching in the mag. It's amazing what you can do with a hammer and a pool table. Instant re-sizing. :-) It worked for the match and got me through. Oh the days!
  3. Thanks for the reply guys! Gm Iprod, Dillon would not send me just the parts. They said there has been so many upgrades it would have to be fitted.. :-(
  4. Good Day All, Wasn't quite sure to drop this question but figured here was good enough. I bought my XL650 back in 1995 or so. Worked like a charm, still does for the most part. Recently started having station 1 (brass feeding) problems. I discovered the "ramp" was bent down at an angle that prevented the brass from being pushed completely into station 1. I just took it completely apart and discovered it is cracked. I have temp fixed it by bending it back and called Dillion service. Guy on the line gave me the good news and the bad news. Good news as with Dillon they will replace the part for free, bad news is I have to ship my entire press back to them as this part has been upgraded 7 or 8 times since 1995 and requires fitting. :-( It's a bit of a pain as I'm in Canada but nothing new that I can't handle. My question, yes I do have one! is what does Dillon do to the press? do they completely overhaul it? Do they completely replace it "New"? Anyone had problems having this done? Just curious and wanted to hear what others have to say.. (Edited by Lumpy at 12:25 pm on May 25, 2002)
  5. Friction fit has worked good for me.... Over 4000 loaded without a problem so far.... Even got my stage 1 to work better with the tips from this section. I doubled up the spring and adjusted Stage 1 with a case in Stage 2 and it now works great.
  6. Calgary, Alberta Canada Shooting IPSC since 1993...
  7. All I can say is I've been primer spillage free for a few weeks now, no more stepping and kicking primers around the apratment. I figure when the Corona bottle gets half full I have to drink another bottle to replace it. :-) Lumpy P.S. Good thinking on the .223 case... I might upgrade to that.
  8. I've read B-zone. Some good reading based on a fictional IPSC shooter and bad guys. Al the Author is one of our local shooters in Edmonton, AB. I've heard the second book Mandatory Reload is just as good or even better.
  9. I deceided to finally take on the challenge of fixing the primers going everywhere problem with the 650. I went and bought 6' of vinyl tubing. 7/16 OD and 5/16 ID which I'll explain next. My dilemma was the best way to attach to the XL650 press and allow a good flow without clogging up the tube. My solution was to take an old LARGE primer pick-up tube plastic tip. I carved out the little nipple on the inside and cut about 1/2" off the end to provide clearance. Stuck the tube onto the end of the plastic primer pick-up piece and pressed the tip into the primer hole on the underside of the 650. I used an obviously empty Corona beer bottle for the other end. Just loaded 500 rds and no problems whatsoever. Much better than before! :-)
  10. Note from moderator: This topic began with Flexmoney's post below. These earlier posts were inserted before it when they were moved from the XL650 tips topic. Here is a mod I did for my XL650. I got fedup with those damn blue bins. When I load I go for about 3 hours or so and the little bins always end up overflowing. So I modded (Dremelled) a plastic bin to hold a mesh bag. These bags come in various sizes and can be found at any Hiking/Camping store. I get mine at Mountain Equipment Co-Op. The one in the picture is a "Small" size and will hold upwards of 600-800 rounds (in the pic that's 300rds of .40). I made a neck ring out of some spare grounding wire from my Sat dish. This keeps the mouth of the bag open and provides support. I cut out the blue ammo bin to accept the bag, but found you need to put a pin or something at the cut end to keep it from flexing. So anyways, don't know if anyone cares about this or not. It comes in handy for me. I can just keep loading away. (Edited by Lumpy at 2:40 pm on Mar. 8, 2002)
  11. Pat, let me tell ya, I jumped about 2' back and probably let out a squeal... Talk about big baby, that's me! No name for him other than "Gone". My co-worker gave it away to a loving family. The original owners. whomever they are, won't be seeing it again... The only good to come of this is I negotiated a lower rent for the year because of the heartfelt trauma I was subjected too. :-) Salesman at his best... :-)
  12. Here is the terrible killer beast. Had me (6'4", 300+lbs) scared shitless. :-) <img src="http://www.ipscalberta.com/snake/DCP01736.jpg"> <img src="http://www.ipscalberta.com/snake/DCP01738.jpg"> <img src="http://www.ipscalberta.com/snake/DCP01739.jpg"> (Edited by Lumpy at 12:26 am on Mar. 8, 2002)
  13. That was the first thing my Mom said when I called her about removing the stain... :-) Apparently these vacuum things even have a bag that needs to be changed more than once every 5 years.... :-) Not married, all the older shooters keep their daughters away from me too... 14. Topic should read "Snake" , as you can tell I'm too freaked to type...
  15. Man on man! What a day! First the live primers exploding in my vacuum incident. Now this! I was in the living room on the cordless with my brother. My Rainbory Lory parrot in the other room was shrieking like crazy. Maybe a little louder than normal. So I'm yacking at my brother and helping him with his computer woes. As I yell at the bird to shut up and go to cover her up I look down and here is a little red/orange snake striking at me!!!! Let's just say the asspucker factor was at 15 out of 10! I know enough about snakes to see that it was a baby cornsnake (1' 3-4"), but folks you just don't expect these kinda things... So I mumble to my brother "Snake in room, gotta go!" and hangup on him... All is ok now, snake is in container, co-worker in Calgary here is a snake breeder and has offered to come pick it up after his gym workout tonight (not soon enough for me!). I live in an apartment building, and reptiles are not allowed. How should I go about this situation? Report? Freak out? The funny part is I was cleaning (vacuum incident) today because there is a IPSC match in town this weekend and 3 buddies are crashing here. Shit, I'm terrified to sleep in my own bed tonight. I'd probably wake up with another snake curled up in my crotch. Let's just say this is a freaking nightmare for me. Lumpy p.s. Co-worker is returning my dig camera tonight. Shall I post a pic of the killer snake?
  16. I was always told the best way to learn is to do it yourself. Today I learned that LIVE primers DO NOT mix well with Vacuums. I recently had a pin fall out of a primer tube I was filling.. I thought I had most of the little buggers picked up. Guess not, they make a neat popping noise as they explode. Now, how to get the gun powder stains out of carpet?!?! Tomorrow’s lesson – Toasters and Bathtubs P.S. Anyone know the correct spelling for vacuum, is it vacuum or vaccum? seen both used.. not sure, oh well another mystery to add to my list of lifes inquiries. :-)
  17. Just a quick note, the form and valuable information can be located at the USPSA website - http://www.uspsa.org
  18. I would contact the Match Director, and say here's the poop! Can you send me a confirmation leter so I can get the paperwork rolling... I think most would be willing to help out. Also I beleive they say you can fax the form 6 in to help speed up the process... Heck ya I'm going to the Nats this year. Haven't missed one since Guelph. I've got my airfare already booked.
  19. I'm aiming to be at the Area 1's again this year. It's one more form (Form 6) that I plan on filling out. You need to attach a copy of your FAC/POL, Confirmation of Match acceptance, and the USPSA letter I received today. Won't stop me from going. Not the biggest hoop we've had to jump through before.
  20. Just got my "Notice of Eligibility" letter from USPSA. I gather this is to help us along in the new permit structure us "out of towner" need to get our gear in the the Good Ol' USA. Also got my March/April issue of Front Sight along with it in the mail today... Woo Hoo
  21. Things you need... (1) Cordless Drill with 1/8th drill bit (1) Automotive Dent Puller 10 minutes alone with said a_-hole/backstabbing ex-friend. With these few items and 10 minutes alone with the creep you can teach him a new respect for kneecaps. Sorry, needed to vent. I had a friend backstab me like that once as well..
  22. No rush on the vid cd's, just curious if they were lost in mail or not. I'll see ya at the Nats....
