  1. It's really unlikely that the bullet is going so far into the chamber that it will cause light primer strikes. What's more likely is that the primers weren't seated fully. If they're not bottomed out in the primer pocket the firing pin strike just seats them the rest of the way and doesn't always cause them to go off. Usually, you can get them to go off the second time when this happens....that's a pretty good sign that they just weren't fully seated. Is your Glock stock or have you changed any springs? What sort of press are you loading on? Take a look at any unfired rounds and see if the primers are all seated fully....they should usually be a bit below the level of the case head. R, Yep, this is what I would bet is happening. If you look at the case from the side just along the bottom f the cartridge you can usually still see the primer was higher than the bottom of the brass even after the primer strike. It will be subtle, but there. Have you changed the striker spring in this gun? Are their any other mods to the guns trigger system? The only mod I have done is a 3.5lb connector, but I am pretty sure that it is the ammo because after I had those issues I switched to some factory ammo that I had and it worked flawlessly the rest of the day. On the next batch I will try and pay more attention to the primer seating. FYI, I am using a lee 4 hole turret press.
  2. I loaded up my first batch of handloads for a match I had last weekend and had some issues. I had shot a few of them to chrono, and then two mags worth to make sure they fed correctly but ended up having issues at the match. In one stage I had three round not fire and showed a very small mark on the primer from the pin. A few guys at the match said that I might be crimping too much which lets the bullet fall too deep. Is this correct? FYI, I am shooting a Glock 21 and used the Lee Deluxe 4 die set.
  3. Is there a chart anywhere showing what FPS translates into PF, and what the PF's are for each class?
  4. I have a friend who had an older millenuim which he liked a lot for conceled carry. I shot it a few times and had kind of a funky trigger. Other than that is was a nice little peice, but again this was an older one so they may be completely different now.
  5. What about the flip side to that? I keep all of mine in the garage and in Maine it will be below freezing for most of the winter. I have a portable heater I will use to keep things comfortable loading in the winter but I was wondering if keeping everything out there all winter would be a bad thing?????
  6. I really need to find a practice partner with the same desire and goals. I find that all of my practice is done alone and I think it is easier to slack when you do not have someone else to push you. Congrats and keep cranking
  7. Loading 230 grain bullets in .45 ACP with tightgroup powder. Anyone have any idea of powder measure that will just make PF without a chrono?
  8. I just got the Mark III 22/45 and I can drop the hammer with no mag inserted??????
  9. You sound like you are speaking from experience?
  10. Thanks for the reply. Going to give it a go tonight. I just hope everything goes back together as easy as it comes apart
  11. Someone on here gave me a great tutorial about how to polish some internal trigger parts for my Glock. Was just wondering if there was a special polish I should use and what some people are using for techniques to polish? Anything special?
  12. +1 Actually, human shaped targets ARE banned at my range. The only time something even remotely humanoid appears downrange is on match day with the standard IPSC target. <Rant> My observation has been that new shooters tend to observe a match or two first, then come out and give it a go. I like to believe that their powers of observation are sharp enough to understand the fact that showing up in a full BDU set and webgear would be unacceptable. We do NOT need legislation at any level dictating clothing or we'll soon end up in tasteless matching clothes like schoolchildren. Next thought... US PRACTICAL Shooting Association. You are practicing shooting WHAT? Showing you can defend yourself and your family when the cardboard targets rise up to eliminate mankind and take over the planet? Thwarting the invasion of the pepper poppers? Get a grip and be honest with yourselves. We all know what we're doing, and have a damn good time at it. Friendship, competition, and developing skills that we all hope we never have to use except at the range. I couldn't care less if everyone decided to show up in pink tu-tus and knee high leather boots. Per the current climate, that is apparently more politically acceptable. Forget the PC drivel and let's get the plate rack reset so I can practice defending my country from the chinette set that may attempt an amphibious landing on our shores one day in the near future. </Rant> Remember this: It's all about the shooting, not the clothing. Hey be careful with the sarcasm. When a horde of Texas stars fly in from foreign lands, you will not be welcome in my bunker!
  13. Do you guys use one when reloading rifle ammo? I will be doing .223 and 30-06?
  14. It's a pin, and they fall out regularly. If you shoot it long enough, the actual lever will break where it inserts into the bar too. It will work without the right side safety, but I know the military gunsmiths buy these pins and safety levers by the dozen when they are stocking parts. And idea where I might pick one up?
  15. The right side of the de-cock lever on my Berreta is loose. I can see a hole where there used to be a pin or screw but I am not sure what goes in it for me to replace. Anyone have an idea?
  16. Congrats on the new addiction, I know it has totally controlled my life As far as the cold weather, get yourself some under armour cold weather gear. It is the first layer on your body and keeps you VERY warm without restricting any motion.
  17. Do they make a magwell for a G21? I have not been able to find one.
  18. I ended up stopping by a store yesturday to check on prices for a buckmark and they had a SICK deal on a new Mark III 22/45. I could not help myself and had to get it on the spot.
  19. I am in the same boat as you. Got the press and dies all set up a few weeks ago and have been slowly trying to buy all the other odds and ends. I have been old once you get up and running it wont be too bad but the credit card has been pretty hot lately
  20. I know what I said earlier but I guess that situation would be a little much.
  21. Not sure why so many people care about the dress of others here. Who cares what someone is wearing for clothes when they shoot? To be honest this sounds like some of the women who work in my office! I for one wear a suit to work everyday, and a large amount of my outdoor attire is camo (I do a great deal of bow and turkey hunting) so what would be the problem with me wearing something olive drab or camo to a match (as long as it did not pose a safety risk)? I am definitely not in a militia, and the last time I checked I was a fairly sane individual. Also being fairly new to the sport I am grateful that the people at my first matches could have cared less what I was wearing as long as I was safe and having fun.
  22. Going to be purchasing a .22 for general amusement and practice. Looking at a Buckmark, but would I be better off getting the .22 conversion for my Glock?
