I say you should run with the G17 as well. If you are serious about shooting open with it I would bite the bullet and send the gun off to S & J Customs to have them build it up right. If you do that I gaurantee it will run as they very much know what they are doing. Of course you can do it yourself but that is how most people get into touble and end up wasting a season trying to get their gun to shoot a full match without a hickup. I have two seasons and 20K+ rounds through my SJC G17 and it has treated me VERY well. Some may also say that it is not the best choice for Open but it can still outshoot me and has beaten many very expensive custom steel guns.

I am not sure what happened and was not there but you might have misinterpreted him. Hurley is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Plus he has a fantastic mustache !

Dave, Where did you find this info? I just shot this today in Open at 8.0097 HF. It is showing as 100% on the calculater in this thread. Do you think this will change before it actually gets posted this month? Jay- I heard this directly from HQ- calls and emails. I'm not sure if the HHF was screwed up for all Divisions but I was told that for Production it certainly was. My understanding is the ones that went thru on 7/15 will stay as is (except mine) and the new HHF will be used going forward. I hope your run stands!! I do not think it will stand. I had to speak with HQ today regarding another matter and they said it was likely to change but could not give me a lot more info. I wish I knew what the new HHF was!

Looking to get something that will help pick up brass at the club after matches. What is the best thing on the market now?

Currently a high A in Open and working really hard this year to get to that next step. I am finding that my biggest weakness in matches is wasting time on steel with make up shots. Not so much steel poppers but more small plates and the texas star. I know in order to win you need to take steel 1 for 1 just about all the time. Accuracy is not really an issue as my hits are typically good no matter what the distance. I just for some reason throw misses at steel (not sure If I am going to fast or what). I know I need to just get out and shoot more steel but does anyone have any specific drills that have worked for them?

How would I check that? Would there be wear on the plunger?

OK, I recently sent my open gun back to SJC for a tuneup and to replace the trigger with something new they had put together. Since I have gotten it back I tried to fire some ammo made with S & B small rifle primers (had never tried them just got a deal) and it would not set them off with just a small dimple on the primer. John and Steave told me it may be the primers so I switched back to CCI and Federal small rifle primers which is what I shot roughly 10K through last year with no problems. Now the last two matches I am getting around 5 or 6 out of 100 that will FTF. There also appears to not be a hit on the primer at all. As this has happened in a match I am 95% sure I felt the striker drop but because I cleared it so fast and was thinking about the stage I can not be 100% sure. After checking these rounds the primers appear to be a TINY bit high but well within what would have shot fine last year (they also all case gauge). John and Steave are going to get back to me about what the problem might be but I thought I would see if anyone else had some ideas as well. I am thinking a change out of a little stiffer striker spring and recoil spring would be a good place to start.

Since I have been running small rifle already there should not be much difference in charge. Even though they are listed as out of stock you got them in?

OK, been using CCI or federal Small Rifle primers for my SJC 9 moajor open gun for a while now. I have enough for a while but I am looking to stock back up again. I have been told by the guys at SJC that I do not need to use rifle primers. My problem is I can not seem to find anything other than Wolf small pistol primers in stock (and I hear they have issues lately). I need 100% reliability and not "that" concerned with price if I can get them without a 2 month wait. First am I correct about Wolf primers not being very good? (I have a light tigger). Second, does anyone know of any Winchester, Federal or CCI small pistol primers in stock anywhere? If not I may just stick with small rifle even though I do not need to.

Does anyone have a line on the lead time for 125gr JHP's? I have a few thousand but if there is a few month wait on these I may be in some trouble and need to shoot something else for a bit.

I have one and LOVE it after about 10K rounds last year. It is actually at SJC eight now getting tuned up for the coming year. You will be happy with your purchase!!!

I will preface this with the fact that I am a huge Glock guy. You can learn to shoot ANYTHING well with enough practice and a Glock is a great place to start

Not sure. Buddy purchased it used and has been having the issue since then. I have not had a chance to loot at it yet but I will check that out.

Anyone know what might cause a G17 to double? This is happening to someone I know and they think it might be due to a trigger being too light and almost bump firing. Personally I think it has to be the gun. Maybe need new springs? What used parts might cause a double?

Looking to pick one up new or used for a new production project but everyone seems to be on backorder right now and it is driving me crazy. Am I missing something or does Glock just not make many of them?

I have not seen anyone throw out J.J. R's name for open. He looked pretty sharp winning Area 8 while beating Todd J I might add.

Pretty sure a Remy 1100 in 20 ga. would do what you need.

I love to spend my time shooting not reloading so I typically do it for each match about a week ahead of time to make sure a broken part does not cause me a problem.
