  1. There is an exception to the California AWB law for non-residents competing in sanctioned competitions. That exception doesn't apply to residents obviously. And doesn't exempt you from magazine capacity requirements.

So out of staters semi-auto rifles in a banned configuration (included detachable magazines, pistol grips, and non-fixed stocks) are ok. But you must use 10 round magazines. Which for the Glock based ARs most manufactures suggest using the Glock 26 magazines not the 10 round Glock 17 magazines.

  2. Just watched their video.

I just hope it's still magnetic. Just get a magnet and give the "brass" pile a once over and get rid of it that way! Hopefully.......

Yes it is magnetic. It was confusing at first because the magnet was picking up cases that looked like brass. But after some internet research I found out that FM was brass plating their steel cased line.

  3. I know the majority of USPSA could give a shit about Limited 10, but for us stuck in 10 round states/jurisdictions it IS a big deal. In fact we also do Open-10 here.

Yes, I know the retort will be "well sucks to be you" haha

Actually, those of you stuck in 10 round states have even less use use for Lim10 than those of us in free states.

The MD can limit all divisions to legal capacity in those states. Open becomes Open 10, Limited becomes Limited 10, Limited 10 becomes redundant.

Except the classifications will not be valid, because when the same classifier is shot in a state without limits they can sometimes do it without a reload. The same reason they had to rewrite a bunch of classifiers due to the 8 round minor guns for revolver.

  4. The place where I reload is air conditioned. But going outside to chrono the load I made is hard to do when it is so hot outside. I am thinking when I build my work shop I am going to have a window where I can mount the chrono and just shoot outside while inside the air conditioning.

  5. I did 5.2gr of Autocomp with a BBI 115gr over it @ 1.10" OAL at the Florida State Steel Challenge match. The RO who was running our squad, and won PCC comments that the muzzle barely moves at all. The dot does move, but not all that much compare to other guns.

  6. If you were to add new stages it should be for ranges that are limited to straight back placement I see that as the most common issue that ranges have. But TBH I dislike shooting matches that are mostly not the standard 8 stages. It is sort of like NRA Action Pistol, it has over a dozen courses of fire, but only four are relevant because that is what is shot at major matches.

  7. Yes I do!

Titegroup is in very short supply here right now and I have smuggled 16lb aside specifically for WAPC competitors.

We also have CFE Pistol and a small amount of HP38. Vihtavouri is about he same price as gold right now. Cost of freight from the Eu to NZ is appalling and supplies are limted. Hopefully we will have the new ADI powder, that are essentially Hodgdon Clays and Universal CLays back in stock this month, subject to shipping.

Zero bullets we are busted on and I am working on that. We may have a good stock of Polymer Coated lead projectiles in time for the shoot.

Cases are in transit I hope. We are at the mercy of the State Department and ATf at present, that has not gone to plan A. But we have 3 1/2 months yet.

Cases are ITAR controlled? I guess that means I have to account for every case.

We were lucky Air New Zealand has prepaid bags like $1-2 for the first three.

  8. Now there was one squad that finished up really late not sure what was up with them.

We were supposed to have 6 squads on Sunday but ended up with only having 5. We also had issues with RO's getting fragged by splatter and that caused delays. We did send additional RO's out to try and get the squad through their last two stages as quickly as we could. We'll do better next year.

That type of steel hanger has that issue. When the Steel Nationals switched away from it the amount of frag that I saw went down tremendously.

  9. I was told that the old rule was written that way because some shooters would take 2 minutes on every run of a stage. I haven't seen this much in the last 5 years.

I don't think this is a problem these days. At FL State the Super Squad caught the squad ahead of it at least once.

That was my squad I remember them catching up and having to wait more than the last shooter twice. Once on the first stage due to the RO having to get instructions on the best way to add a walk on. And the second time was due to a back up at Smoking Dope, we had to wait probably a good 10 minutes before we got to shoot, thus they had to wait for us to finish. Beyond that we stayed ahead particularly since we pushed through to finish the back stages before taking lunch (the squad voted and only wanted to do the walk back and forth once).

Now there was one squad that finished up really late not sure what was up with them.

  10. What are the "peak stage times" in the table? The 100% mark for each classifier? The reason I ask is because they have been such a closely guarded secret in USPSA, that it's hard to imagine that they are just listed out in the open...

I've been a USPSA life member for several years... I checked my USPSA number on the Steel Challenge site and it's me... and my USPSA login works... am I good to go? I never paid to become a member of SCSA...

We have run outlaw steel matches for many years at our range and never bothered with any Steel Challenge official affiliation... We are trying to "clean up" a few things due to some of the recent SCSA changes... Hence, we don't have much official Steel Challenge knowledge...

I would imagine the difference between Steel Challenge peak times being out in the open, and the USPSA HHF being a secret has to do with the fact that you can't easily sandbag or grandbag in Steel Challenge. Your score is your classification.

  11. You're loading on a wheeled cart?

After screwing my (already massive) reloading bench to the wall and seeing the night and day difference that made... I'm a bit skeptical of anything on casters that weighs less than about 2,000 pounds.

The cart is about 8-12' x 4', and is pretty solid.

Right now my only issues are about a 1 in 100 upside down bullet rate from my MBF, the rare case not wanting to feed into the shell plate, and the even rarer military crimped primers I missed when I cull my brass.

  12. I got a Dillon 650 about a month ago. I purchased the primer upgrades immediately, they actually arrived before the Dillon did to I've never used the press without them.

It didn't require much of a learning curve at all to get it working. Other than getting a jam in the primer tube after trying to load too many primers my only recurring issue is the Mr. Bulletfeeder dropping upside down bullets every 100 or so rounds.
