For me, I will never go back, it's not worth it, I would rather travel to KS / Iowa / or lake Charles, the cost is way more, in travel and time, but the shooting is way more fun, or almost any other match rather than the Bianchi. The Bianchi MIGHT be the end all of the AP world, but it is just to expensive for nothing other than 192 shots fired. I will say it again, the only other reason to go to the Bianchi for me, is to get a chance to see humans I would never get to visit with otherwise.

George and the crew at the SW Louisiana Rifle and Pistol Club run a great even though I didn't go to Bianchi this year, and likely won't next year I still go to Lake Charles. I actually enjoy going there, the food is good, the atmosphere is very laid back even during the match, and George keeps on improving things based on input from the previous year.

  2. I am building a custom loading supply cart, but one feature that I want to build into it is a set of tool head stands. But I need to know what is the average depth of tool heads for both rifles and pistols.

So if you please can you measure the depth from the bottom edge of your tool head to the longest point below the tool head. And post that along with caliber.

For those wondering what this is for, basically this:Dillon650ToolheadStand.jpg

  3. IMO there should be two penalties, as the rule book currently allows. The standard penalty of 3 seconds per a run. And the RM allowed waiver penalty for legitimately handicapped shooters that should be based on classification.

1.5 seconds to a D class shooter is being generous, but 1.5 seconds to a GM class is very harsh.

I might be in the minority here but I do not consider watching the top 16 + + + shooting the whole match again to be entertainment for a Saturday. I am a shooter NOT a spectator. I could sit in my lounge at home, with a beer, and watch it on You Tube.

After my first year, I've never gone to the Saturday Speed Shoot. I typically spend Saturday at the Practice Range doing a SpendEx with any ammo that I can't take on the airplane with me.

  5. The idea of the new shoot off format was that it would make it more broadcast friendly, but IMO that fails to understand that in truth NRA AP is pretty boring unless you know the people involved.

I think that if you want to make a more media friendly event you instead take the Colt Speed Shoot and put some serious cash behind it. And instead of taking the top 4 followed by the pointless "Lets put a pro-level GM vs someone that barely even knows how to shoot a gun." You take the top 16 or whatever from each division or category adjusted to participation vs time available. And do a shoot off with some serious awards behind it, like 3GN does.

For the media they now have three things to work off of when creating their story for the Cup, first the drama of who will win the main events. Second you have the drama of who is going to make the cut off. And finally you have the drama of the make or break nature of the shoot off.

The Bianchi Cup and related awards/prizes still go to the winner of the traditional events. This would be a separate award and prize. Yes it is a speed event vs the accuracy concentration of the rest of the events. But isn't that why the Speed Event is there to contrast the main events?

Well with 3 freakin TONS of brass to do, ya gotta be resourceful!  Wish I had a problem like 3 TONS of brass.  lol

Good luck and don't knock it off the table!

Well I don't have 3 tons, but I do mine in 5 gallon bucket quantities. So I've had to figure out ways to get things done beyond the usual quantities that reloaders typically talk about.

But I don't have the cold outside problem, I only have about 3-4 months of weather cool enough for me to work outside.

Concrete mixer and kerosene space heater on a table.  Just don't get the heater too close, anything warmer than too hot to handle bare handed is too much.

Ohhh this may be what I am looking for. I wet tumble my brass in a cement mixer, might as well dry in it too.

When you fly with guns have your act together; have your stuff locked, don't bring a loaded gun, don't bring more ammo than you are allowed, etc.

Many of the airline and TSA people are just fine; there are some that don't know the rules.

If you talk nice and use charm you'll almost always be fine; act like an arrogant tool and start waving their rules in their face and, rest assured, you'll be That Guy. Your goal is to get on the plane with your stuff; not "educate" the poor ignorant peasant who doesn't know every nuance of travelling with guns.

I agree with this, but I should emphasize sometimes you have to stand fast and no compromise on important things. During the last trip I took the counter lady tried to do get me to do things that violated not only common sense, but federal law.

But I remained polite but stood fast and insisted that I wasn't going to do that. Eventually she brought me to the TSA and they agreed with me.

30 minutes of tumbling with just Dawn and Lemishine is still cleaner than factory. YMMV.

I just used Lemishine for the first time today. Boy am I surprised how clean it got the brass over just dish soap.

I'm going to try the Armorall next, because I often don't load my brass until weeks often months as I clean a 5 gallon bucket at a time.

Which makes it odd that Shooter Ready says they use flat rate boxes, but can only fit 1500 200-230gr bullets in a box. What else are they putting in the box?

Their post office might be one of those that limit flat rate boxes to 60lbs instead of the USPS 70lbs.

Could be, I ordered a bit differently as I wanted to try several of their bullets, ie 1k  of 45, 1k of 40, and 1k of 9mm etc... - all came in two boxes but different counts. 9mm was 875/125, 45 was 625/375 I think, 40 something close to that as well.  Just seems counter intuitive to me, than to just sell in strait up boxes of 500 like every other bullet manf does :).

I'd assume if one ordered 3500 45's you wouldn't get 4 boxes of 875, but 5 boxes of 625 (as that is all that fits, apparently) or whatever, and then a partial box of the remainder to equal 3500, for instance.

Almost everyone determines their case sizes by what fits in an USPS medium flat rate box. In BBI's case he splits it into four separate sub-boxes of whatever fits.

Yes it makes counting a little harder, particularly if you load multiple caliber and bullet weights, but it is more efficient for your shipping dollar.

  12. I just had one a couple of weeks ago.

I was using crappy range pick up brass, lots of it with the DRT head stamp. Which when I prepped the brass constantly had sticking primers. Well now it was being difficult to prime.

I was also at an overseas match using someone else's 650, and Federal primers where as at home I use CCI. Toward the end of my thousand round loading session, I was getting tried and frustrated and I just slammed the handle forward. The pop was quite loud in the trailer.
