  1. Wow! Nice gun... Super nice price!!!
  2. I have a set of VZ operator 2s. They are definately sweet... But heavy. Burner series grips from Jerry Barnhart are my number 1 choice. They are injection molded with the sand of skateboard tape molded right into them. Super light, escpecially if weight is an issue. They stick to your hands without tearing them up!
  3. Is there a specific rule in the rule book that calls this a range failure... Re-shoot?
  4. Para wound up sending me a new PXT. I replaced the weak one with the new stronger one and the number of FTEs was "Reduced". Pistol sold! Thank you... But no thank you Para!!
  5. Thanks for all of the good info guys. Will start with the heavier PXT spring. If that works, I'll buy 50 of them and stay IDPA legal. If no go on extraction then... iDPA is out and I'll just have to buy another single stack in 9mm. Bummer!
  6. OBTW... Great write up and info on what ammo put up the best groups!!! Thank you!!!
  7. I run my tacsol upper on a Wilson Combat CQB frame. I have successfully run the Kimber mags also... $18 bucks each... Run great but don't lock the slide back or drop free from the pistol. I also have a GSG 1911-22. Their mags ran sweet with the tacsol upper conversion. + drop free and lock the slide back when emptied. $30 bucks when you can find them. Very happy with this unit. If you run a mainspring any heavier than a 17 pounder, my experience would recommend drop to the 17!
  8. Thank you! Looks like I could go to Millennium Custom direct.
  9. It's a PXT. Does anyone know who makes the sleeves?
  10. Recently bought a new P-18. Its intended purposes are IDPA ESP division and Steel Challenge Limited division. Since I shoot Single Stack and CDP primarily these days, I felt this was a good buy for a gun that will get only 10% of my competition time.... Provided it can run flawlessly!!! Stock, this thing was sprung heavier than any of my 1911s in .45. Firing anything other than high powered ammo my first time out with it, the empties would just drool or roll out the chamber. So I replaced the stock mainspring with a 17 lb wolf and the recoil spring with a 10 lb. At the range today (2nd trip) with factory Wally World WWB ejection was firm, when it ejected. Unfortunately now, 25% of the time the slide would come back and the extractor will have left the empty in the chamber. This is now the only problem this gun has. Accuracy is more than acceptable holding 2 inches easily at 20 yards. If y'all could help with the extraction problem I would appreciate it very much. In addition, I need a magwell that will fit the IDPA box and keep me under 43 ounces. Finally, the stock thumb safety needs to go. What type ambis will fit this frame? Does anyone know if the Caspian ambi without the right side tang will work on this gun? OBTW, this is a very recent make but NOT built in the USA. It is stamped Canada on the frame. Thanks All.
  11. How long can you load your ammo? C.O.L. With the KKM? If you've done much testing, What lengths with what kind of bullet profile?
  12. +1 on checking the clearance between the magazine/top round in the magazine and the bottom of the ejector. I'll bet the Tripp mags are built to orientate the rounds to the chamber as high as possible. I've had this same problem in the past and was easily solved with a jewelers file to the bottom of the ejector to ensure no interference.
  13. I got a chance yesterday to feel the difference between the Gilmore shroud and the Caspian. Both are nice, but I did prefer the slimmer Gilmore. I still feel like someone should make a slimmer one yet! Just my 2 cents. I cannot wait to go open! I love high tech! I really appreciate everyones help on this subject! Thanks to all of ya very much!
  14. Anyone have a name and number? Estimated price? Thanks again
  15. Alan, Youve been a huge help man... Thanks! I think I know which direction to go from here for the start of my build. I really appreciate the help!
  16. For optics, the Pride/Fowler AP red dot is the way to go. There's a link on here in the Bianchi Cup section somewhere for that scope. The Gilmore shrouds are rare to find anymore. If you have serious problems finding one, get back to me and maybe I can help. I have a couple of them stashed for future gun builds and could maybe be persuaded to part with one of them. As far as the powder is concerned, you won't be pushing enough velocity to need a slow powder. Most use something like WST, AA#2, W231, or Titegroup. The faster stuff in other words. Stay either under 1100 FPS or over 1150. If you get in the area in between those numbers, you're playing with the speed of sound and the accuracy gets hinky for the 50 yd stuff. Keep your loads either super-sonic out to 50 yds or sub-sonic from the get-go. The magwell/prone pad goes for around $50.00. Shoot Warren a PM or an email and he can fill you in on pricing. Alan~^~

  18. First of all I should clarify... I'm am not personally building this pistol. I'm having it built! Thanks to you both for the advise. Definitely some clarification on some items! Still looking for some advice on powders... Fast or slow burning? I'm guessing slow for the comp to be at it's best. Regarding the Gilmore shroud! Where do you get one? Gilmore's site is down? Cost? Who else makes a good scope? Lots of bad press on the Gilmore sight, but we all know the saying about opinions? Mine will be a single stack Caspian with probably a Schueman barrel as well. Cost on magwell from Warren? I know his stitch shift price... 300! Thanks again! OBTW... I'll be shooting a match in Billings this weekend. Only 10 minutes from home.
  19. Fact... I'm going to build an open gun for NRA AP Fact... It will be a single stack 1911 on a Caspian Frame and STI slide Help... Is 9 mm going to get it done? 115 or 124? Slow or fast burning powders? Fact... caspian barrel shroud and stick shift with PF 4 reticule dot site? Help... Magwell for this set up? Help... Barrel? Bull or bushings? You are the ones who know and I would really appreciate your guidance. I am currently shooting metallic with a long slide 45 with an ultimatch bull barrel, acc-u-railed, major slide lightening and use 10 round mags to elevate my sights while prone? Did I mention I AM going to build an open pistol? I don't want to make the wrong decisions based on shooting open USPSA for years! Thank you all for whatever you can do to help me make the fewest mistakes!
  20. Thanks Marty I appreciate that very much. If you don't mind I'd like to add you to my friend list so I can contact you after I make the move.
  21. thanks for the info. how many shooters do you pull each month? any open guns? looks like i'll be living on the north side of town right off of I-44. how long would you figure the drive to be?
  22. Looking for some REAL competition Tom. lol i'll c ya Sunday with my newly modified Master Snuffer. Pick up in Tulsa... check. no worries.
  23. I'm moving from the great state of Michigan to the gorgeous state of Missouri within the next 60 days or so. I have visited every gun shop in the entire state while visiting, and NOBODY seems to shoot here. Any and all help finding USPSA and IDPA clubs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys and gals.
