  1. I'm coming in from Asheboro and wanted to know what time the classifier match starts? I'll be happy to lend a hand.
  2. Does anyone offer magazine extensions for the Springfield XD pistol? Specifically I'm looking to increase the capacity of the .45 GAP magazine to more then nine rounds. Thanks.
  3. Cor-Bon offers match grade 9mm loaded with 147gr. bullets. It's the softest recoiling 9mm I've ever fired but out of a 5" barrel is reliably makes a 128 P.F.
  4. I'm going to start shooting USPSA Production with a .40 caliber G35 and wanted to ask if anyone could suggest some super light loads with 180 gr. lead or jacketed bullets with the following powders: Bullseye, Unique, TiteGroup. Many thanks.
  5. JoeD - thanks for the heads up. I called Blade-Tech and they make a model with a high sight track specificially for tall front sights.
  6. I just checked with John Abidon at USPSA and was told that it is permissible for Production shooters to replace the Glock's factory spring and guide rod with aftermarket parts. I don't know about IDPA - but then who does?
  7. I had to go to a 12 lbs. spring to get my G35 to lock the slide back on an empty mag. I ran my "Lite .40" loads through my G22 today with the factory recoil spring and everything worked as it was supposed to. I'm going to experiment with some other powders (Bullseye, TiteGroup, Unique ???) and see what happens.
  8. I've installed Dawson adj. sights on my G35. The high front sight prevents me from using the Uncle Mike's Kydex holster I prefer. Can anyone suggest a holster (which would be legal in Production and L10) which provides clearance for such a high sight?
  9. It's been my experience that S&W pistols have a difficult DA trigger and there isn't much a 'smith can do to them. On occassion I shoot a Beretta 92 Elite in USPSA Production Division and my 'smith was able to get the DA trigger very smooth and light, while the SA let off is beautiful.
  10. Was out today shooting the light .40 loads and discovered a problem: the slide won't lock open on an empty mag. I am using a factory spring/guide rod unit (17 lbs.). I talked to my local Glocksmith and he feels the slide does not have enough velocity suggested I replace it with a Wolff 14 or 15 lbs. spring. Opinions????
  11. I worked up two loads yesterday that show promise. Both are very accurate with soft recoil and function my G35 reliably: - 180 gr. lead, 3.5 gr. of WW231: 737 fps - 132.6 PF - 180 gr. JHP, 3.7 gr. WW231: 707 fps - 127 PF I may drop the powder charge on the lead load another tenth and see what that does. Otherwise I'm ready to run.
  12. Thanks guys. I think I'm going to start playing with the old Dillon. I like WW231 and think I'll start with 3.8 gr. and a 180 gr. bullet.
  13. I have been shooting Production with various 9mm pistols for almost three years now. I noticed the other day that I have a large quantity of .40 reloading components gathering dust in my reloading room. I am considering unlimbering my G35 and using it in Production matches with downloaded .40 ammo. To make major with a .40 you only have to push a 180 gr. bullet to 695 fps. I should be pretty soft shooting? The primary reason I switched to Production is that I have severe carpal tunnel in both wrists and shooting Major .40 and .45 loads just got too painful. Any suggestions Pro or Con would be appreciated.
  14. I recently acquired a Performance Center 952 pistol and intend to play with it in USPSA L-10 Division. The only fly in the ointment is the magazine only holds 9 rounds, meaning can only I start with a total of 10 in the gun. If I have two 10 round strings of fire in a row I will be at a severe disadvantage because when I reload I will only have 9 rounds in the pistol. Does anyone make an extended magazine for the 952???
  15. Does anyone know who makes 9mm match ammo? W-W, Remington and Federal used to but it's not listed in their current catalogs or on their websites.
  16. Here in North Carolina we have seven different shooting events, including at IPSC type match, in our yearly State Games. Does your state have simialr types of programs? If so, please let me know as I need the information for a report I'm doing. Many thanks.
  17. I just received a SW1911 to evaluate for a number of overseas mags I write for. I am VERY impressed with the overall fit, finish and ergonomics. The external extractor and firing pin safety are two items that should have been done decades ago. They have also relieved metal under the trigger guard for a higher grip - a very nice touch. IMHO, this is a pistol on a par with equivalent guns from Springfield and Kimber - if not better. It's almost as nice a gun as my custom Glock 21 (sorry, I just couldn't resist saying that) (Edited by Krag at 11:41 am on Jan. 31, 2003)

    9mm Major

According to Robin Taylor at USPSA, 9mm Major is now legal but you must still use a .40 caliber or larger to make Major in Limited. This means that 9mm Major will only be practical in Open - so what difference does it make?

    Only ONE GLOCK

I'd go with the G34. Suitable for USPSA Production (and other divisions if you're a "...punk who feels lucky today"), IDPA, GSSF, home defense and, yes, police service. A bit big for CCW but not impossible with the right holster. I own 11 Glocks and my G34 is my favorite.
  20. I agree poor course design on the part of the planners. But also poor sportsmanship on the part of the super squad. I believe that the "win at all costs syndrome" leaves a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of competitors, especially newbies.
  21. "How should we calibrate poppers?" Simple, all the "fun" shooters have to do is "ring" them. We do that all the time at our CCW matches for those shooters using .22, .25 and .32 pistols.
  22. Swede - I'm afraid you must be mistaken. I have been assured by a number of 1911 shooters that it impossible for anyone shooting a Glock to make it into the higher classes.
  23. Eric - I agree 110%. I've broached the subject a number of times over the years and it's always been a toss up over who wants to lynch me first, the Open Shooters who believe they can only win with techno-junkie handguns or the .45 crowd who believe anyone who disagrees with Cooper is a heretic who needs burning at the stake. I've always been of the opinion that this sport should be FUN before anyting else. Those of us who take ourselves too seriously are our biggest enemies. (Edited by Krag at 6:46 pm on Nov. 16, 2002)
  24. The 2008 World Shoot in Peoples Republic of China! I can just see the 1911 crowd's reaction when the 2008 World Open Champ is shooting a tricked out ChiCom Type 51 in 7.62x25 and the Production winner uses a Type 59 in 9mm Makarov? Wow, that would have Jeff Cooper turning a strange shade of purple. LOL Excuse me, I'm just in a naughty mood today. Been stuck in the house with a killer cold all week and am getting cabin fever.
  25. Flex - yes on my G22, no on the G23. In fact I had the slide stop on my G23 shortened and rounded off hoping that would help. It didn't.
