It shows that someone someplace, is thinking. Testing, Pushing, the Norm,, and trying to make something better.
Not long ago,,, The sport of 3 Gun was an Extreme Joke to most of the shooting world.

Today for example,,,, what we would call the 3 Gun Rifle. Configuration, Is the Go TO gun,,
For most of that high-speed, low drag, people, they make movies about.
How did that happen,,, people showed up on match day,,, with new stuff, on their gun,, most of it made in garage workshops? Long han guards,, for example,,,,, the first ones I saw were all homemade,, People laughed,,
That took many years and lots of trial and error. (Is thinking. Testing, Pushing, and trying to make something better.)
The trigger is one of those things. Laugh all you want at someone who is trying.
Ask yourself what have you Done? Created? Tested? To improve anything about the sport?

There is this thing called a "2-stage" trigger...much safer, much cheaper, much better performance. Besides, going and reading 4 rules sets, this trigger would probably not be allowed in any division except open...
Paintball uses 1 pound dual "pad" electronic triggers which are different than this trigger. The technique is basically feathering, or bump firing with both fingers. IF you measure the splits of the top paintball guys, their splits are not faster than the top 3Gun guys.

Three shooters,, me and My two Son's shot just under 1000 pistol. I don't have counts on the other ammo,,,

Well casanovaracing,,, your probably right,,, but adding lead,,to the buffer. was cheap, too, and a buffer is,, under $10,,,, I cast bullets,,, so I have lead and a way to work it,,, a gas block was $100,,, I when with the cheaper text,, ,,,,, the weight helped,, the gas block, will probably do the rest,
I'll know in a week,, after I get the part and have a chance to text it at the range,,

can't say I know anyone with a DPMS 308,, too swap,, parts,, I have found out that AR's in 308 are NOT,, like 223 AR's all of the parts are not interchangeable,,
, hmmm as for Surgery,,, too late,,, for that,,
the gun ran 90% so I'm on the right track, but one in every 10 rnds,, is not 3 gun ready,,,

it is a 20 inch,,, reg gas tube,, length,, the ammo was new or small base sized,, they all fall in and out of a JP gage,, its way over gassed,,, I'm happy I have a weighted buffer now,,, I would recomend that to folks for sure,, it was easy too,,, If you have a way to melt lead,,,

It is close,,,, the adj,, gas block is on order,, I think it's doable,,,
I have to say in the 308,, the extra weight in the buffer,, is nice!!! much softer, more of a slower push,
It has been a long road on this gun,,,,, I so want it to be worth the trouble,, and more gray hair,, I got from it,

Ok back from the range,, test fire with weighted 8 OZ buffer,,,,
still not up to 3 gun standard,, BUT,,, it ran better so I'm on the right track.
I got through the first mag,,, no problems,,, second mag,,, well,, it didn't get them shot,,
same problem FTE---- the bolt would still lock back,,
a Much lighter kick,, was nice,,,
so what do I have left,, an Adj gas block,
and or more weight on the buffer,, I can make something like the tub system, if the Adj, gas block does not do it,,
in the end if the gun works,, it will not be a DPMS when I get done,,
live and learn,,, ouch!!

Ok so far,, I weighed all the buffer parts,, the factory one was about 4 OZ,, on AR 15,, someone had a thread,, that said, an 8 to 9 OZ buffer weight, was working for them,,,
SOooo after taking a wild ass guess,, I got my bullet casting pot all warmed up,, and filled it half way,, let it cool,, weighed it,, it was about,, 4 OZ,, so then I filled it up to the point that I could, put the buffer, pad back on it,, I put it back together, and when I'm at the range tomorrow doing some other range work,, I'll try test firing it again,, and hope for the best..

Thanks for the new input,,, when to the range and tested what I got,,,, same same,,, FTE,,,, I'm going to play with making the buffer heavier,,, here I go!!!

oh ya,, I got the Donut thing,, put it in,, but the new,,, extractor spring,,, was not that strong,, I had a beefed up one that was thicker longer and stronger,, so I have a stronger extractor spring,, with the rubber insert, in it too.
I'll polish out the,, chamber tonight and test fire it this weekend,,,

as you can see the old one on the right new on the left,,, both DPMS,,, but not the same,,,

well,,, I got the new buffer spring and new buffer. they are 308,,,,,,,,,,, so says the tag,,, now the buffer was the same as the one in the gun,, same weight too,,, the spring was different,, it was not a tightly wound, it had less coils per,, inch,,
more to come as parts come in,,

CO-exprs thanks for your input,,, I'm taking it all in,,, and ready to try,,, lots of things,,
at this moment,, this is hwat I'm going to do,, parts are on order,,
No Mil Surp,,, New factory or handloads,, nothing hot,, med, all small base sized,, they fall in and out of the JP chamber gage,,
I have not polished up the chamber on the new barrel,, but I'll give it a try,
My Plan at this point, is to polish, change to a new extractor, use the super duper extractor spring with the rubber donut,, change out to a new 308 buffer and new 308 buffer spring,, and see what happens,,,
the only other things I could think to do,,, is play with the weight in the buffer, make it heavy,,, or lighter,,,, and get an adjustable,, gas block.

I was going to shoot this gun for the exas Multi gun match,,, but its just not working,, I hope it is running by RM3G time,,, it has to be 99% or I'm just not going to put myself through IT again,, 3 gun is hard enough with guns that work,,
