  1. My bike is my main mode of transportation. I ride 700-1,000 miles a week. I use a Praetor OWB holster for my 1911. In the winter it is covered by a jacket, but during the summer I ride with it exposed. You would be amazed how much better people in cages drive when they see it. I leave for work in the dark and drive some very desolate interstate for about 40 miles. Four years ago I had three instances where people took advantage of the fact that there was no one else on the road during the wee hours of the morning. Two separate occasions a tractor trailer tried to push me off the road and one time it was a pickup that made two attempts to put me in the median. This was done for nothing more than their amusement. I have carried ever since, and will not ride without it. Haven't had anyone attempt anything since I started carrying. Hell, over the last couple years I've got to the point that I don't take my gun off till I go to bed.
  2. Thanks guys. Should have my bullets tomorrow
  3. I recently picked one up, and love it. It is very accurate out of the box and reliable. The only thing I didn't like was the mags, but they worked. The trigger pull was 4.75. I ran 500 rds through it when i got it home and could not get it to malfunction. My wife limp wristed the hell out of it and it didnt stop shooting. With ammo it likes, it will cut a ragged hole in the paper at 15 yards off hand. It needs a fiber front sight, but only Ruger makes one the right height. Dawson Precision makes two front sights for it but they are taller than factory. My gun shoots exactly where I aim so I can't use the Dawson. I did a trigger job to bring it down to 3lbs with short flat trigger. Replaced the titanium pin with a stainless one. Polished the feed ramp Wilson one piece guide rod 14lb recoil spring 18lb hammer spring I am very happy with mine.
  4. I'm going to start loading 45 for a 1911, and the only powder I have is a lot of Titegroup. Dont have anything else and dont see picking up something different in the near future due to the non availability of powder in stores. I don't care about smoke. These bullets aren't for matches, just proficiency. Does anyone have a pet load for this combo they would like to share? Thanks
  5. Z-MAN, I have shot both, and prefer my Witness Limited. I shoot with another guy that uses the CZ and have shot his. I can't tell that much difference in the grip. I think that both are fine guns. That being said, he goes through a lot of buffer pads whereas I don't need them in the Witness. I think his CZ had a better out of the box trigger than mine, however after switching out my hammer and sear with the one Henning sales, my pull is down to 2lbs. I have zero reliability issues, whereas he can seldom finish a match without some sort of function problem. Of course it could be just his mags. The last time we shot together he said that he was going to switch back to his STI. You know what they say about opinions, but I can tell you that everywhere I go other shooters love the way my Witness shoots. Just like you, I really liked the witness limited, but the only way I could put my hands on one, was to order one. I'm glad I did and have not regretted it. I have put close to 7,000 rds through mine with no problems. It seems to shoot well with whatever bullet or load I put through it. If you were anywhere close geographically I would gladly let you put a couple hundred rounds through mine, and you would become a convert. I guess the only drawback to the Limited is the fact that it has polygonal rifling, which does not like lead bullets. It shoots them very accurately, but leads the barrel horribly. However, I have only loaded them over Titegroup which is probably a nono. If I switched to something like SOLO 1000, I probably wouldn't have a leading problem with plain lead bullets. I just can't find a small jug of SOLO to find out. As you know, it is cheaper to shoot lead than jacketed. I hope this has been helpful.
  6. How do you like the DPMS AP4? Jim I love mine. It shoots great and functions with everything I've put through it.
  7. Anybody here have one? What is your opinion of it? How much work can you do to it, and still use for Production? Is extended safety a nono? Thanks
  8. I have the DPMS AP4. My best load so far has been 41.7 grn Varget under a 168 AMAX. I use LC brass for the most part. This load will consistently group MOA or less.
  9. With just about any load mine will shoot 2.5" @ 25yds from a rest. With the correct hand load, both my Match and Limited gun will put 5 rds into 1"@ 25yds, IF I do my part. I've had several custom built Bullseye guns that would have a hard time matching that.
  10. Thanks for the input, guys. The Match model I have is actually my wifes gun. It is one of the earlier match models with the Bomar type sights already on it. I have already tricked it out internally. The problem I'm having is this. My wife is very tall and slim her legs appear to be about 6' long, by my estimation. Even with a DOH Bladetech holster, because of her long legs and short torso, she literally has to lean over to get the gun out of the holster. She loves my Ghost holster, which I use for my Limited Model, but she despises the Limited gun because of the way it feels to her. If there is another option for the WITNESS MATCH other than the Ghost holster, but similar to it's design (speed rig), I'm all ears. Thanks again.
  11. Hello guys and gals, Just wanted to throw this question out there again to see if anyone knows. Thanks
  12. Updte I finally fixed the problem. I found someone with a gun that liked MG's and he happened to have a bunch of MasterBlaster's sitting around. The MasterBlaster's easily make PF in my gun. Thanks alot guys for all your input, it has been a real learning experience for me. Eddie
  13. Just out of curiosity, I ran the same loads through my wife's Elite Match model. They are almost identical in velocity. The Match model averages 850 fps. The Limited model 853 fps. So, I got to thinking.....maybe it's the bullet? I went in the house and found some Masterblaster 180's that I've had for a while, dropped a 4.6 grn charge in them with OAL of 1.185, ran back outside and fired them across both chrono's. The results were a lot different. My average velocity was 952 fps which gives me a 171 pf!!!!!!! Can somebody explain this? Less powder, same weight bullet 100fps difference?
  14. So the gun you are shooting is a Elite Limited?.. Leo Yes, I am shooting an Elite Limited.
  15. And I thought that I was the only one. I have a second chrono now, and they both read the same. Looks as if I would have to blow the gun up to reach major PF. Maybe I should put some Slide Glide on the rifling. just kidding.
  16. Hello fellow Tanfoglio shooters. I need some help/advice. I chronoed some loads yesterday in my EAA Limited gun and am a little confused. My load was 180 grn Montana Gold bullet over 4.7 grns Titegroup OAL 1.180 crimped to .421. According to what others have loaded this should be making Major, but it averages only 845 FPS! I am using an ALPHA Master chronograph, which is brand new. This load feels pretty stiff, but according to the chrono it's not. I placed the chrono about 6 feet in front of the table. Is the problem the chrono or the polygonal rifling or what? Thanks in advance for your help. BTW I posted this in the EAA forum because I wanted to go to folks using the same gun.
  17. I shot with Tim usually twice a month and was dumbfounded to find out that he had passed away last week. He was a great guy and will definitely be missed in our little circle of shooters. He always set up what we called the "hilltop stage", and everyone always joked about making sure they had enough rounds left over to shoot Tim's stage. Even though he always shot revolver, he was notorious for setting up stages on the hill that would take several mags to shoot. It was great and he will be sorely missed.
  18. Interesting idea. I like it. You could have different inserts as well with different amounts of offset, just like SV triggers...... I suppose I should mention though that it is possible to shorten the trigger reach by quite a bit with these triggers. It's done internally; I've done it on both of my guns and they are now the correct reach for my hands. I have small mitts too, so they probably wouldn't have to go much shorter for most people. Are you saying that I can do something internally to my Limited Witness to shorten the trigger reach??????????????? If so, please do tell.
  19. I would like to see a flat trigger like this one. http://www.sphinxarms.com/downloads/Docume...%20Standard.pdf
  20. Has anyone actually tried a 22 conversion on a Match or Limited gun yet? I was told by one EAA dealer that the 22 conversion would not work on either model. It's hard to believe that no one here has tried it, especially with the cost of ammo nowadays. I'm with hhsmiley, it would be alot cheaper than 40 and you wouldn't have to pickup brass LOL
  21. I married one like this. Only one problem. HUGE CONSUMPTION OF AMMO
  22. Does anyone know if a particular model of Ghost Holster will work with the Witness Match model, which has the curved trigger guard?
  23. I haven't tried it yet, but have compared my Match model to my Limited gun and it appears that it would require a small amount of fitting. You will also need to drill a hole in the frame, which I would probably have done by a machine shop or gunsmith. Henning says the frame is really hard steel, probably something you wouldn't want to attempt at home. I intend to put one of the magwells on my Match in the near future.
  24. You know we all hear about customer problems, but seldom about what great service someone provides to the customer. I have made several purchases from Henning over the past couple of months, and could not be happier with the product or the speed in shipping. Not only has he been on top of things business wise, but would also answer all of my emails about Tanfoglio products within hours. He really seems to know the Witness line pretty well. On a side note, the bullets that he carries are definitely worth looking into. They shoot as well as XTP's in my gun.
