  1. Well I am making the jump to 3-gun and have a JP-15, 18" med. weight barrel w/BC comp on order. I have pretty much decided to go with the meopta 1-4 k dot from all the reading I have done on the topic. As far as mounts go it seems the larue would be a good choice but I have been looking for some other options and since this is my first AR I am not sure what height I am going to want to have the scope mounted. If I don't go with the Larue mount I was considering using this GS-1 flat extended rail http://www.arizonagunrunners.com/images/ggg1028.jpg with the ARMS #22L throw lever rings http://www.riflescopes.com/images/arms22l.jpg I am sure there are other things I need to consider. So any input would be appreciated. Brians forum is great and have learned much about our sport here and want to thank all that contribute.
  2. Nano's are nice, wife and I each have one, her's is all music, I have mostly podcasts which are free, so are video podcasts (which a nano can't play). Capacity and video is what you will be giving up with the nano but you will get durability and convenience with the smaller size. I would wait til tuesday to see what new things apple comes out with when Steve Jobs does his Keynote address at Macworld. The iPods are probably not going to change but you may be able to have other options possibly an iPod + phone type device or maybe price drop, but you should be covered for a price adjustment if that were to happen on tuesday.
  3. It had been a long time since my last loading session so I believe that the cleaning media that had accumulated in the hopper had clumped and then it got rolled into the feed tube. I have now taken the brass out of the hopper, cleaned and inspected it. it shouldn't be problem now. Thanks for the help.
  4. Thanks for the replies, I'll check out the article. What I think happened is media built up in the bottom of the hopper and rotated around with the cases enough to drop into the feed tube filling the case. I think I will make the holes larger in the hopper and fit a catch can. Thanks again,
  5. First loading session in a long time and was about 120 rounds into it. Using an xl 650 w/case feeder and being very anal about everything, just cleaned and lubed the 650, weighing 10 throws to see accuracy of charge, making sure powder is not compacted, watching for anything not normal. Then a load looked to full so took the shell out and dumped it to weigh and found a good amount of cleaning media. I am not sure how this would have happened. Hopefully picture is veiwable. One of the loads next to it showed one granule of media. There was some cleaning media in the casefeed hopper, I have cleared that out The load is .40 Cal, 180 Star enclosed base FP, 4.7 Grains of Titegroup, being loaded to ~1.203. So has anyone had this happen? How dangerous would that load have been if it had been fired? Should I pull all the loads? How do I prevent it from happening? Thanks for any advice, this kind of thing takes the fun out of loading for me.
  6. The iMac is a great computer, it comes with Wi-Fi or Airport as Apple calls it, plus bluetooth wireless built-in. Also has the intel Core 2 Duo processor, which you can run Windows natively if you wish. All Apple computers come with a great suite of software called iLife which lets you make podcasts, movies, burn DVD's and CD's, make websites, manage all your digital photo's and do great things with them. Go to apple.com and look it over, the refurbished products are also a good way to get a great value. You can find that link on the lower left of the main store page at Apples website. I would wait and see what Apple has coming out this next week, they have there big show releasing updated products on tues. PM if you have any questions.
  7. What is the easiest way to zero the micrometer at your desired bullet length on the Redding competition seating die? I have the seating depth set nicely, now I would like to zero the scale out. Is it a just a trial and error adjustment until you get the scale zeroed on your wanted bullet length? I first tried just holding the current depth with the provided allen wrench and turning the micrometer to zero. It got me closer but was off by about .010. Must not have a 1 to 1 thread ratio between the die threads and the zero adjustment allen threads. Not a big deal but was just curious if someone had a proceedure to nail it. Well I did a search sorry about not doing it earlier, I found EricW's proceedure. QUOTE Thanks
  8. I can see the original posts point. It might be convenient to have a 550 that could accept a 650 tool head. Upgrading from machine to machine would be an easy process. On the other matter, I find that I can dampen the snap of the shell plate with a light drag of my finger on the shell plate, I believe I use my third finger of my left hand which is resting on the bullet tray as I'm holding the next bullet to be placed (which I'm holding between my index finger and my thumb.) Having the shell plate bolt adjusted properly is also helpful.
  9. I'm running just about the same as gunruner, ~4.8 of TG with Star 180, same OAL 1.200 with a P-16, and similar fps.
  10. Limited, 53 points, 14.42 sec., hf 3.6755. I have been shooting for a little more than a year now and this should be my highest percentage so far.
