  1. I finally found a CZ TS2 Orange in 9MM about two weeks ago. The retailer listed them for $1998. As soon as I saw this I immediately bought one. The website still showed at least one in stock, but they raised the price on it $200 the day after I bought mine. That one lingered on for a few days and then someone snapped it up too. I haven't seen another since then. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but one thing I'm not sure of is the trigger feel. The trigger is light and crisp and breaks consistently at 1 lb 11 oz, but it if you slowly pull the trigger it almost feels like a 2 stage trigger. It has a slight take up, and then you reach a point where you can feel the trigger effort change. It almost feels like you've reached the wall, but you haven't. If you press just a bit more you reach a wall, but it's not a sharply definable wall, it's easy to go right past it and fire the gun. From that point the trigger is so sensitive that you don't want to breathe too hard or it will fire. I'm hoping that this will break in a bit after it's fired, but it's sort of weird. The trigger on my 75 TS Orange doesn't have that 2 stage trigger feel, it goes from take up directly to the wall. Other than that possible trigger hang up, the gun is a work of art. The quality is first class and the ergonomics fantastic. But I'm still concerned with the trigger feel and that's something I've never had to worry about with my other CZs. Maybe I've just been shooting guns which weren't CZs and I need to get acclimated to a CZ trigger again. We'll see.

    CZ TS2 Orange on GB

I used to prefer the .40 over the 9mm but when ammo started going up so much a few years ago I started shooting 9mm because of the price. Now I guess I'm just spoiled and enjoy the 9mm more. I still have a few .40s but just prefer the 9mm. I should have jumped faster when I first saw the TS2 Orange, but when they first came out the price was over MSRP and I thought I could afford to wait until the price came down. After all it just came out and I thought they'd be more available after a while. I never thought they would disappear like they have. I have recently found a new, unfired .40 for sale that I was thinking of grabbing, but I'd rather have the 9mm. I guess I can keep waiting. I don't have much of a choice anyway. Don't you like your .40 or do you just prefer 9mm? Other than caliber what do you think of your TS2?

    CZ TS2 Orange on GB

Just to check, I visited the Eric Grauffel online shop website in France. They list 4 in stock in their store. Maybe it's just a shortage of a new, very in demand product, but it sure looks like more should be coming to the US after one year. CZ doesn't seem to have any problem getting Shadow2s to the US, or the new Shadow 2 Compact. But then neither of them require the extra hand fitting that the TS2 Orange gets.

    CZ TS2 Orange on GB

Maybe you're right. I've never seen an introduction of a new pistol like this one with CZ. It was introduced about a year ago and was only available for a couple of months. Now it has disappeared completely. I've contacted CZ USA and asked about it. They say it is one of their most asked about pistols. Their answer is to go to an authorized CZ dealer and ask them to order it for me. I've tried that and have been told repeatedly that they get their CZ from major distributors and they have none in stock. They say they can't order directly from CZ. It seems like their is a lot of built up demand for this pistol, as evidence by the high price on GB, but no one knows when or if they will be available. Frustrating.

    CZ TS2 Orange on GB

That's unreal! Just goes to show that CZ is missing out on a lot of money by not making these available. Anyone ever hear what the holdup is? This model was released about a year ago and other than a few being offered for sale back in about March or so, they've been unobtainable. I know I've been looking to buy one, but not at that price.
  6. To answer your first questions, Sig just recently introduced a rear sight for the P226 X-FIVE that is designed to fit into the rear of the slide. It's available as a rear sight only, or a rear sight with front sight combination. Both are suppressor height. https://www.sigsauer.com/p226-xfive-xray3-backup-night-sight-set-suppressor-height.html https://www.sigsauer.com/p226-xfive-xray3-suppressor-height-rear-backup-night-sight.html As far as your second question I don't know. That is something I was also considering, but since Sig has finally come out with the rear sight designed for the X-5 I will be adding a Sig red dot and buying the rear iron sight.
  7. I spoke to a retailer about this a short time ago. He said that they have the TS2O on order but they trickle in in extremely small batches and he has no idea when they might arrive. He's as frustrated as potential customer are who have been waiting the better part of the year for them to arrive. I also spoke with CZ-USA. Their solution is to have a CZ authorized dealer order one, but practically every one that I have contacted says they already have a order in and are waiting just like everyone else. The others say they get their stock from a distributor and all of their suppliers are OOS. It would be interesting to see what CZ has to say about the reason for this. The new CZ Shadow 2 compact has been hard to find also, so maybe CZ's ability to produce their products in the quantities needed is being pushed beyond their limits.

    Shadow 2 Compact

Your description pretty well matches my perception of the S2C. Even though I own both the S2C and the DWX compact, the S2C not only feels better, but I also shoot it better than the DWX, and I hate to admit that considering that the S2C is about $600 cheaper than the DWX. But that's the way it is, at least for me. The DWX does seem to have ever so slightly better quality and smoothness, but I think that may be because of it's initial additional hand fitting. I think that after the S2C is properly broken in by actual use, the difference will be almost imperceptible. Good luck on finding a proper fitting holster for your S2C.

    Shadow 2 Compact

It's my understanding that the S2C is a regular production gun. I found mine at $1199 so there are some dealers who don't take advantage of buyers because the gun is in demand right now. Eventually the prices will come down to a reasonable number.
  10. I'm curious to hear the upcoming reviews on the new X-FIVE Legion and their 2 port integrated expansion chamber setup. The Staccato XC has a similar setup that they've been using for quite a while and it's been getting good reviews.
  11. On a side note, Sig just announced yesterday that they are accepting preorders for the latest P226 X-FIVE, the X-FIVE Legion.
  12. I see that APEX has finally come out with a trigger set for the M&P 2.0 Metal. It should be interesting to see how it compares with the stock trigger. I have the 2.0 Competitor and it has a surprisingly good trigger from the factory. https://www.apextactical.com/flat-faced-forward-set-trigger-kit-for-metal-frame-m-p-m2-0

    Shadow 2 Compact

I finally had a chance to take the Shadow2 Compact to the range. I brought it and three other pistols for a comparison of the S2 compact, the DWX compact, a Shadow Line compact, and a Kimber KDS9C. All are very similar in size and I thought I would do a non scientific, nothing fancy, just my impressions of the four pistols. The DWX and Kimber have been to the range a couple of times, but it's been quite a while since I've shot the Shadow Line, and this was the first for the S2C. All four really feel like high quality firearms. The DWX is probably the smoothest to handle with a silky smooth slide and fantastic trigger. The other three while all are great handling, they probably fall short just a bit of the overall smoothness. In a ranking of triggers, again the DWX IMO has the best feeling trigger. It's hard to beat a 1911 style trigger for it's short take up, crisp break, and short reset. Both CZs have a great trigger and feel similar in feel, with a slight bit of creep, but still a crisp break and relatively short reset, but they just can't quite equal the DWX and you don't notice the creep when shooting. The older Shadow Line has a longer take up which I'm glad to see that the newer S2C has improved on. Kimber, which seems to get a lot of criticism really doesn't give up anything to the two CZs and feels very similar in trigger feel. All four pistols feel great in the hand. Of the four I would have to say the S2C probably feel the best overall. It balances a great ergonomic fit with just enough grit in the texture to give it a good feel without being too aggressive. If I would change one thing on the S2C I would put an extended safety on the left side. The full size S2 offers an extended safety, but I'm not sure if it would fit the compact, but even if it doesn't eventually CZ probably have one. The Shadow Line is very similar but the newer Shadow series wins by a hair. The DWX also feel wonderful in the hands, but in my impression it's a bit slippery, perhaps because its grip is slightly narrower. I've had a problem with the DWX shifting in my hands so that I apply the safety without realizing it only to have it prevent it from being fired. I've tried adjusting my grip with mixed success. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that its slimmer grip and slightly smoother grips just make it harder to control at recoil. The shape of the grip seems to lock the pistol in place, but evidently the recoil causes the pistol to shift a bit. I still need to work on my grip technique. The Kimber again doesn't give anything up. It is very comfortable to hold and the controls are exactly where they need to be, but the grip itself is a bit thicker than the others but still very comfortable. Overall operation and shooting was flawless on all of the pistols. Honestly, you could probably pick any of the four and be happy with them. They are all 100% reliable and a joy to shoot, with acceptable recoil and muzzle rise. All four are very accurate although for this test I shot all rounds at 7 yards. Normally I would go out further, but trying to compare four pistols on one trip took more time than I expected, plus this was a get acquainted first trip for the S2C so I spent more time with it. Again, you could choose any of the four and probably be happy with your choice. It would all boil down to which one felt the best in your hand and just your personal preference. If I had to choose just one, I would undoubtedly choose the S2C. It's just about perfect IMO. It just felt the best in my hand, had the best grip, handled the best, and for me was the most accurate. All of them were accurate, but the DW has always shot a bit to the left. I adjusted the rear sight, but it is still ever so slightly patterning to the left. The Shadow Line has it's factory setting for the sights as does the S2C. The Kimber had to have the elevation adjusted slightly but is fine now. Again, IMO the Shadow 2 Compact would be my choice of the four. I got mine for $1199 which is to me a screaming good deal, especially since the DWX cost $1800 and isn't cut for an optic. The Kimber was I think $1299 which is in line while the Shadow Line was cheaper than all of them, but we're talking about 2017 dollars, and we know everything has risen in price since then. You just have to make a decision, and no matter which one you won't go wrong, but IMO CZ has a huge success on their hands with the Shadow 2 Compact.

    Shadow 2 Compact

I just picked up my Shadow2 compact yesterday, and making a decision between the two is a tough decision. It's something that only you can decide, but I'm attaching a few pictures and giving my first impressions for your consideration. As far as the comparison, in the hand both are very similar. The DW is slightly slimmer and feels fantastic. The CZ fills the hand slightly better but also has that fantastic CZ feel. I keep going back and forth and while both are excellent, to me the CZ is slightly better IMO. Ask me again and I might just say the DW is better, it's just that close. The CZ just fills the hand better and the grip is grippier, both the grips themselves as well as the front and rear backstrap especially. By comparison the DW feels slightly slippery, although I've not had any problems in that area. In racking the slide, the CZ takes a bit more force to rack it while the DW can be racked with less force and feels much smoother. That may because the DW has about 250 rounds through it, while the CZ hasn't been fired yet. As with the frame, the serrations on the slide make the CZ easier to grip. For me the mag release on the CZ is better and can be pushed without breaking my grip, while on the DW the release is more recessed and I have to break grip to activate it. The safety on the DW wins because it is definitely easier to activate on or off, while the safety on the CZ is so flat that it's harder to activate. The DW safety feels like a traditional 1911 safety with good, audible clicks when activating while the safety on the CZ is OK but a little less precise. I have had a problem a time or two with accidently activating the safety on the DW, but that is probably just me and I may have to adjust my grip, or ride the top of the safety to fix that problem. The trigger is where the DW really shines. That's not to say that the CZ trigger isn't a great trigger, it is, but there's just no beating a good 1911 style trigger. The DW trigger, while a bit heavier than I like, is just better, with a cleaner break, shorter reset and better overall feel. The CZ trigger is slightly heavier, has a relatively short take up, but a too long reset. It breaks fairly crisp, but can't beat the DW trigger. Finish wise, the finish on both is excellent. The DW has a DLC finish on the slide and an anodized finish on the frame with a slight mismatch in color because of the different metals. The CZ finish matches perfectly because it is more of a Cerekote type finish. Other than that there are minor differences in sights but that's a matter of personal preference. Naturally the CZ wins hands down with an optic ready slide, while the DW is not. As I've said, I haven't shot the CZ yet, so these are only my first impressions. My general feeling is that the DW is slightly better in overall quality, although it's extremely close, but given the $600 difference in MSRP the CZ is undoubtedly the better value. It's a tough decision that only you can decide. Hopefully my first impressions will help until you are able to compare them in person. BOTH are excellent handguns and if possible I recommend getting both.

    Shadow 2 Compact

Your request is granted. I found this on another forum. It's a great little tool for comparing most popular pistols side to side facing up, back to back, or facing in. You can pick from several popular pistols and instantly see how they compare dimension wise. https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/dan-wesson-dwx-compact-vs-cz-shadow-2-compact
  17. It looks like DW is finally beginning to catch up with demand. Good, maybe now they can start making the effort to get the optic ready version out. The reason Gunbroker has so many offered, IMO, is because of their prices. That's why whenever possible I try to avoid them. Places like the retailer that I linked to that offer good prices, no CC fees, free shipping and no sales tax either will always be my first place to buy a new firearm.
  18. I'm a long time lurker, but just joined recently and thought I'd make by first post by passing on a little bit of information if you're still on the hunt for a Dan Wesson DWX full size. I know by now most people who want a DWX have either gotten one, or if you haven't you might be waiting for the price to come down. I already have a full size and a compact DWX so I'm no longer in the market and can't use it, but I just got a 'back in stock' email about the DWX full size at a great price so I'm passing it along just in case someone is still looking. It's the best price I've seen for the DWX and it's from a company that I've purchased from before and they are good to go. Hope this helps someone: https://www.kygunco.com/product/dan-wesson-92001-dwx-9mm-light-rail-red-grips-red-trigger-19rd?utm_source=Ecommerce&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=NotifyMe
